  1. Hi All,

    Here is my completed timeline:

DOS sent FR to USCIS: April 20

Received a copy of the FR in the mail: In about a week

Never received the 'Case received' from the USCIS and called the USCIS customer service ## after 4 weeks. They're not too familiar with this so try to explain clearly.

The customer rep. managed to find my receipt number so I could check the status online on May 25.

    Case approved: May 26

    Approval Notice: June 2

Good luck to you all. Be patient..

    Hi

i don’t whether it helped me in my case or not. After 5 weeks i have asked my home embassy that can they send another copy of NOC to DoS or not. They said they can fax a copy and they did. On the next day I saw my status updated and Fav Recommendation issued.

I don’t know whether the fax had any connection or not.
Now I am waiting for USCIS approval more than 5 weeks. It is frustrating 😔

    thanks

Hi. I got my FR on 4/20 and received DOS letter in the mail but nothing from the USCIS. Not even the case accepted letter. Nothing. Is there a way to contact them?

    Thanks.

  3. Hey guys. Finally some good news. Got my FR on exactly 12th week today. Hopefully USCIS goes faster. Here is my timeline.

I had a J-1 visa back in 2014-2015 funded by my country government (Brazil) but on the DS-2019 it states an US sponsor (IIE) which i believe is the one responsible for managing the funds. Right now I am on J-1 visa funded by the company i am working for and the sponsor program is an US agency as well. The waiver I am applying for is for the current J-1 visa. Why would they ask for sponsor views if the US company is the one funding my current program? Do you know how long it takes for the sponsor to get the request? I noticed the status update on the site yesterday so I emailed the sponsor from 2014 and my current sponsor to see if they received anything. The sponsor of 2014 said that they didn't but I am not even sure if they are the one that will get the DOS request.

As far as I know, the waiver will waive all J1's you ever had. The one you mentioned on the DS3035 should be getting the sponsor request. If you mentioned the latest J1 visa info on the form, that's the one the views are going to be asked from. It doesn't matter if it's a US funding or your home country. Either way they'll ask for the views. I saw some people's timelines here with the sponsor views. Some took a month. It shouldn't be longer than that tbh. I'd check with your current sponsor from time to time. Good luck.

This is my latest update, does anyone have any info about sponsor views?

If your J1 was sponsored financially by an institution etc., DOS asks for the sponsor views. They send it themselves and the institution sponsored you sends it to them. You can check with them to expedite this step if you'd like.  Have you received Fullbright ?

Almost 8 weeks past and I am still waiting for my case to be recieved. My embassy sent NOL a month ago but still there is no information on my number.

8 weeks sounds way too long for the case to show up on the system. Are you sure you did everything right? Payment and the barcode file sent all together etc?

Hey, my J1 expired last May and right now I'm living in Germany (not my home country, also was where I got my J1), looking to apply for H1b later in the year. Is this considered adjustment of status? I think I'd just apply for the waiver without the advisory opinion.

    No it is not AOS.

    Hi

One of my friend was in the same situation, not subjected to 2 years in Passport/visa. But he had to take waiver since his home country was listed in skill list. My suggestion will be go for Advisory Opinion and they will tell you the fact. But I am 90% sure that if your country is in skill list then you have to take waiver

Then maybe he should directly apply for the waiver since he'll have to wait for the waiver processing after the opinion more than likely.

I'm in the same situation as you. I got my favorable rec on March 23 and have not yet received either DoS or USCIS letters. The SASE I sent DoS had tracking labels and those have not been scanned, so not sure if they were ever used... My case is not urgent, so I'll give it another week and reach out to their email if I don't get my DoS recommendation letter/USCIS receipt notice.

If that doesn't work after a few tries the best course of action imo is reaching out to your congressional representative office for help: https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative

I'll keep watching this thread and will report back next week if I get either document, but seems unlikely to happen at this point. lol

Hi. Can you share your timeline please?

    Hello All,

Does any one to give response on following question?

      1. My status expiring on May 31st, 2019 and didn't get response from DOS on J1 waiver.

I think, i can't renew either the J1 program or change the status to H1B.

welcome any suggestions on to stay in usa beyond expired status date.

    Thanks.

Hi. I don't think you should be renewing the J1 now that you've applied for the waiver but I think you can apply for the H1B during this process. Assuming you have a sponsor for the H1B, you can ask the DOS to expedite it accordingly. There are a good amount people here who applied for the waiver to get the H1B. They should know more than I do on this. Good luck.

    Hey guys,

You might have seen me posting and complaining here before. My case took a really really LOOOOONG time. Finally today it was approved. I wanted to share my timeline here, because I've received lots of informations and supports from many of you here, even though we've never met anyone in person. I wish you all good luck and stay calm and healthy during these covid-19 times.

    For the USCIS part:

    1/15/2020, USCIS issued the I-797 notice of my case;

    1/24/2020, "Name Was Updated" (I'm not sure what this mean. My case didn't move forward for a long time from here);

    3/27/2020, "Case Was Approved".

I'm still waiting for the physical mail notice.

It seems that most people's cases get approved within 2 weeks once it gets to the USCIS. Some other cases have taken slight longer. But for mine, it was more than 10 weeks. I really don't understand why it took so long. During this time, I've called the USCIS and they couldn't give me any useful info. If you've been waiting for your case for a long time, be patient, it'll come. Good luck to everyone.

Thank you for sharing and congrats!!
