  1. Hello everybody,

I am excited to share with you that my wife's interview has been scheduled on April 21. Now I am concerned about AP/AR. Is it true that every interviewee must go thru security check ? I saw some applicants got their visa in the same or next day and some applicants got AP/AR. what causes them to get AP/AR? Please share your knowledge/expereince. That would help me a lot. Thnaks

Usually, they don't put female applicants on AP/AR. My wife got the visa right away. But no one can guarantee whether your wife will be on AP/AR or not. You have to just wait and find out.

From my exprience (wife from Iran). If your wife does not work, she will very likely will not be put on AP. Your best bet is to search VJ for your country and see the time lines. I found out in case of Iran all males are put on AP, most females that has worked in Iran are put on AP.

  2. Administrative Process;

My wife (Iranian citizen) had her interview on 12/16/07. After 3 interviews with 2 different officers; we were told our case is complete - got the blue sheet without requiring any add’l documents- and the embassy needs add’l time for administrative process and to look up our case number for approval on the embassy website. My wife is employed by a university that is part of government.

My question; is this process only for security clearance for my wife, or there are other issues? It has been over 2 ½ months since our interview. Has anyone gone thru this process?

    It is standard procedure.

Security checks are based on the following:

    1) Applicant's country of origin (Iranians face extra scrutiny by virtue of their country of birth)

    2) Education or profession (any education or profession that can have a military/defense implications will warrent a TAL check and something called Visa Mantis. TAL stands for Techonology Alert List

    3) Name checks, facial recognition checks

Good News, wife got approved af 2 1/2 months. It seems like if the applicant is a female, the security check is shorter. Do not waste your time calling DOS, I caaled them twice last night and both time were told the process is not completed. Good luck to to all of you.

Add to the mix...bureaucracy of the government aqencies doing the checks.....

It can be anywhere from 1 month to 12 months waiting. Average time DOS said is 6 to 8 months waiting for all this AP to be done.

Good news from NVC; 12/16/2007 interview at 8 AM.

  6. The scheduling dates have nothing to do with NVC, they schedule our interviews around the waiting list at whichever Consulate it is you are interviewing for your visa at.

I wouldn't get too stressed out if you've only been waiting for an interview since last month. Our case was completed in June, and we just received our interview date for December 6th. Most of the Consulates are not nearly as backlogged as Montreal, so I'm sure the rest of you will be hearing good news soon.

Checked NVC ,VM today and our file has been send to US embassy Nov. 9th. I will take this as a good news and will contact the emabasy Monday.

I was told by NVC that they will schedule the interview, but I guess in this case, the embassy wiil the do the scheduling.

  7. All our paperwork (DS 230 and I 1864) is "received" as of Oct 30th, according to the NVC automated message. I am HOPING for a miraculous case completion and interview scheduling this month, for an interview in December. Do you think this miracle could happen?

In any case, good luck Medieval!

I have the same dream so let's dream together, may be it will help the miracle to happen

wish all of us A huge GOOD LUCK and Christmas gift to get

My wife's case was approved September 24th, missed the interview for November and have to wait another week to find out if there is going

to be an interview for Decemeber. The explanition was given to me by NVC was the the embassy was over loaded for Nomber.

This is what I have find on this site:

"The NVC makes appointments the second week of each month". It is a silly rule and practice.

  8. For CR-1 visa case, once my wife arrives in US:

Green Card: What do we have to do?

SS number and SS card: I have checked "yes"the box on DS-230. Do we have to go to SS office, or it is taken care of automatically?

Along with DS-230, there was a questioner sheet from NVC and one item was POE and I put Dallas, can she enters US thru other

    US airport?

    Thanks

  9. Case complete and Case forwarded to Embassy???? I have been waiting three weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is the hold up???????? I am pulling out my hair!!!!!!!

These are the info. I have find on this site:

"Because your case was completed by the NVC BEFORE the 15th-16th

of this month, you will probably get an interview appointment for next month."

"The NVC makes appointments the second week of the month so you

can call them either the 14th or 17th to find out if they were able to give you

    the October date."

So call NVC 2nd week of the month, or call:

Department of State at (202) 663-1225. Dial option 1(one),

then option 0(zero) to get through to an operator. It is easier to get to them, they only give you answers on you case if there is an update for

your case at NVC. Good Luck

  10. I think it depends on the embassy if they do have any available slots for the interview, whether it is for the next month or the upcoming months thereafter. Your best bet is to call DOS, that's where I found out with mine!

    Good luck and Congratulations!

I called again this mornning, and was told the embassy might have been booked for Nov. But they are not sure and there is no notes on my

file to indicate their points. But I don't understand if this is the case why they don't go ahead and book for December.

  11. My case was completed September 24th and according to the NVC operator, The NVC makes appointments the second week of the month

( mid- October ), becuase my case was completed after the 15th of September.

My question is; would I be getting a Novmber or December appointment for interview. I guess the packet 4 will arrive after interview date has been set.

  12. I got the same message last night and this is the second time we have had to do a revision of our I-864 packet. It's so devastating to get these setbacks! Last time they sent us the checklist that asked for the W2 (or P60 in my case as living in the UK for the past two years). They were also confused about extra info I had sent....I'm learning to do the basics and no more.

Apparently what we sent back wasn't what they wanted because now they have sent out another checklist. Each of these delays the process by at least a week if not more. I'm gonna be calling them later as well to speak to an operator about it and find out more details. At least we are all in this together!

Well, my case has a happy ending. No problem with the AOS pacakge. It seems like, once your AOS package is approved and NVC system doe not show the rec. of DS-230, it creates this STUIPD message.

  13. NVC voice mail says that my I-864 is incomplete. Once I rec. the letter from NVC, do they require a revised I-864, or just

    provide the missing info.

Contacted US Embassy about requirement for spouse visa; January 2007.

Advised by the Embassy that due to the changes, they no longer can accept I-130.

Advised by the Embassy to file with USCIS. I have all the emails send to me from the Embassy.

Forwarded all required document to family member in US to mail to either USCIS

    Or NVC.

Since our marriage, I have been living with my wife.

I have a permanent resident in US, all my financial document send to NVC

shows my resident address in US.

    My questions:

    Form DS-230, line 14:

Address of spouse (if different from your own). Should my wife put my US address

    OR local address?

    Interview concern:

Should I be concerned about living overseas and filling with USCIS?

Your wife does not live in the US, so you would not list her address as the US.

Your living overseas during the process is a problem only to the extent it impacts you ability to qualify as the sponsor. It is a positive factor in showing evidence of bona fide ongoing relationship.
