  1. Hi again guys thanks for all the input Lucho, Diana, Scott, and everyone else for that matter. I have got another one for you and I haven't really read anything much about anyone with the same problem. I understand you have to send the I-797C in with the AOS packet...yeah I never really got one of those. I tracked the K1 visa over the USCIS website or phone and recieved niether NOA1 or NOA2. Does anybody have any ideas or can the packet be submitted without this? Thanks again.

  2. Get outta here, there aren't many Spanish speaking people in Tallahassee? I thought the whole state of Florida was packed with latinos and alligators?

    Diana

Yeah no such luck here. This is really more like...lower Georgia than Florida. I think this is one of the only cities in the states (of any decent size) that doesn't have some moderate hispanic population....no shortage of alligators though.

  3. Hey guys! I posted up in the original Colombia Club section before I realized this was here. Good luck to those of you searching for Colombian foods, that is not a huge problem down here since Orlando is only about four hours away and they have a large Colombian population. The spanish programs that some of you were discussing might help learn some words and phrases but they will be limited somewhat. I find that it is hard for Lina to understand me at times because I am originally from GA and have a bit of a southern accent. I don't know if anyone lives (or knows anyone) that lives in or near Tallahassee, FL but if so feel free to send me a PM. There aren't many spanish speaking people here and I am sure Lina would like to talk to someone other than me from time to time.

  4. Hey, congrats to all the Colombia club members who have recently been through and passed interviews. Everybody else hang in there it is worth all the waiting and hassle in the end. I have been gone for a while so if someone could help me out with a quick question it would be greatly appreciated. Is there a Colombia Club AOS info board or anything of that nature? We are getting ready to dive into that here pretty soon and the info here was invaluable for the first part of the process. Also if anyone lives in or near Tallahassee, FL send me a PM. There aren't too many spanish speaking people here and as interesting as I am, I am sure that Lina would like to talk to someone else occasionally.

  5. Good luck Brian and Yenys, I am sure everything will go great for you guys. Update on the DOMESA pickup. Lina told me she spoke to the reps and can pick the visa up today. This makes day number eight since the interview. That is the date that DOMESA projects too, so at least they are keeping their word on that. Anyway I hope this helps some of you guys out. By the way, is there a forum for the AOS or life in America or anything like that? Take care guys.

  6. Congrats to Edwin on your recent approval!!! I will apologize first for not posting up a little sooner since I know that this DOMESA issue has several people worried. I will apologize second for the bad news...our interview was on the Monday the 19th and Lina still hasn't been able to pick up her visa. We have called everyday and been getting the same answer...call back tomorrow and hopefully it will be in then. I will keep you guys updated on exactly when our visa is available. We were originally told the same 8- 10 days, but that it was a very good possibility that it would be ready in just a couple. Maybe things are moving slowly due to the newness of the process, but that does throw off travel plans. Good luck!!!

  7. I asked her to be sure that we couldn't pick up and she was told that recieving your visa in two or three days might be possible but eight days is the sure bet.

Was the answer to Lina "no" to picking up the visa in person?

    Scott,

What I was understanding was that you pick your visa up from a DOMESA office in whatever city you designate. You can not pick your visa up at the embassy anymore. Seems like the middle man could be bypassed at least in Bogota but no, more than a little ridiculous if you ask me. I am planning on calling tomorrow or the next day and will let you guys know the outcome.

  8. Bad news you guys, maybe you've seen this already and I'm not sure if it has been verified with the embassy or not. But it looks like as of November 19th, the embassy in Bogotá will deliver the visas to the beneficiaries instead of picking them up 48 hours later.

I found it on here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=96213

Scott, since you're the next one up, can please confirm this information for everyone else. It's a real bummer if it's true.

Hello everyone. I am not sure if anyone has responded to this yet, I am a bit behind of the forum happenings. Lina and I actually went to her interview today. I will post up more details when I get home in about a week. The quick and dirty version is that we showed up about 6am and went straight for line number three as per instructions here on the board. Waited for a while inside the embassy...take a jacket it is cold. The interview itself was done by a male CO and lasted maybe five minutes (no that is not an exaggeration). He only spoke to Lina and didn't ask to see any of our pictures or emails. In response to what you wrote Diana, yes picking up is no longer an option. The service cost 50 000 COP and takes about eight days (or so they said) to get to whatever city you want to have it sent to. I don't think things would have gone so well had it not been for the help I got here and I hope this can help somebody else. Good luck to everyone waiting, and thanks to everyone that helped out.

Congratulations! How do I sign up for one of the 5 minute interviews? ;) Do you have any sense of what was in your package that precluded them asking many questions about the validity of the relationship?

Also, could you fill out your VJ timeline? It will help make the VJ stats as accurate as possible.

I guess waiting for 8 days to receive the visa is no big deal when compared to the length of this entire process but it really bugs me. It will mean that flights can't be booked and plans finalized because no one will know when exactly they will have their visas. Plus someone will need to be at home at all times for fear that they will miss the courier.

Scott, it sounds like you can specify where to deliver the visa. Since you will be in Bogota maybe the courier will deliver your's quickly.

Seems like that info stirred up a bit of a hornets nest. I talked to Lina this morning after reading over the board and she told me that eight days would be the most you would have to wait. I asked her to be sure that we couldn't pick up and she was told that recieving your visa in two or three days might be possible but eight days is the sure bet. The company that is providing the service is called DOMESA and they have offices in several cities throughout the country. The numbers for the Bogota offices are 4248724 and 4248740 in case anyone wants to give them a call. I think it is still possible to be able to fly in a couple of days, but I understand the level of comfort involved in knowing for sure.

Bill to answer your question no I am not sure where to sign up for the same guy. His was definately the express lane though, we watched a couple of other people go in front of us and they were all very fast and all seemed to get approved. The guy was a hispanic (Lina says he was a Colombian) male, looked like he was in this thirties, and didn't have any type of beard, goatee, or anything. He was working at window 3 inside in embassy, but I have sure they don't work the same window every day. I don't know what it was about our packet that he liked. We didn't have many items in the I 129 packet, maybe ten photos, copies of our passports and tickets from when we went on a couple of trips, and around ten emails. I took my last three years tax returns and last three paystubs, and of course all of her documents. That was pretty much it since they didn't ask to see anything else. I subscribe to the "better to have it an not need it" method and it seems that we lucked out. Hope this helps.

  10. Hello again everyone, I hope everyone is making progress in your process. Sounds like a few are getting very close, congrats. The whole process seems to speed up the closer you get to being done. Our interview date is actually on the 19th of this month and we seem to be rushing trying to make sure everything is in order. Anyway, to the point, does anyone have any info on the Adjustment of Status paperwork and supporting documents? What exactly does EAD stand for? Did I read that the fees add up to around $1100? Any info would help, I am trying to stay ahead of the game as much as possible. Thanks again and good luck to everyone.

  11. Dear Colombia Club,

Unfortunately I have no update other than I have been calling NVC daily and they have not recieved our approved petition yet... It's been almost 4 weeks so far and we are waiting anxiously...

The good news is that I will see my LOVE in 2 days..YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Hope everything is fine with everyone and hopefully we will have more to post soon.

    Scott,

I wouldn't worry too much, it took NVC about four or five weeks to recieve my approved petition too. I would just keep calling back until they tell you it has been recieved. Good news is that it will only take them a couple of days to send it out to Bogota. The Embassy was pretty good about getting packet 3 out to Lina also. Still waiting on our packet four and interview date though. Good luck man.

    Jon

  12. Greetings to everyone, I hope all your cases are going well. I just found out that mine was finally sent to the embassy. We are one step closer which is great, hopefully we will be back in the states after Christmas. Anyway coming to the point I was wondering if anyone had the fax number to the embassy. I want to fax my packet 3 in, but haven't had much luck finding an actual number. Thanks again for everybodies help.

  13. Good luck Diana, I am sure things will go well for you....the power of positive thinking and all that. Welcome Juan Carlos tons of good info here and always someone willing to point you in the right direction. I am interested in the time constrants on the vaccines too, how far out can you get them? Do any of the documents for a K-1 for packet 3 or 4 have to be certified copies and how would one go about getting documents certified? Does anyone know why I might not be getting any paper notifications from USCIS? I have never gotten one, I either recieve an email or call to find out about the status of my case. I even went back to check the address I put in my I 129F and it was the correct one. Is this normal or do I need to make a trip to my local office?

  14. Thanks for all the info guys. One more question..well at least for now. Looking back at your link Lucho (which is exactly what I was wanting to know) I see that I will be needing an OF-169? I didn't see this form on the Embassy or Dept. of State sites. Do you know where I can go to find this one. Thanks for the info and the warm welcome from everyone.

  15. Hey guys another newbie here. I would like to start off by saying thanks to everyone who has posted info on this forum. It has all been very helpful and helped me construct an error free I- 129F packet. I recieved notification that my packet had been approved by USCIS and would be forwarded to the NVC. I have a few questions that hopefully someone can help me out with:

    1) What need to be my next steps as far as what documentation I will need.

    2) I read through the shortcut process that James put up, will this work for me?

    3) Are the fees going to be the same now as when he published his guide?

    4) Finally, what might be a realistic timeline from now until interview time?

I know that is quite a request but I like to be proactive with things and as slow as this stuff gets processed I want to get it right the first time. I appreciate any help you guys can offer.
