  1. Hi! I'm new to this site. I have a question. I'm currently filing AOS and EAD, the EAD requests an alien registration # or I-94 number. Which is which? I'm a little confused as to what numbers I should use. Can anyone help me out?

The I-94 number is about the 12 or so digits on the I-94 form given to you on board the plane before u entered the US. I am not too sure if you have your A # yet. The Alien number will be made available to you whiles you are in the process of adjusting. So work with the 1-94 number now and the A # will come later. It also depends on the category u are classified, be it K, H or whatever. Good luck.

  2. My wife and daughter arrived in August, 2006, exactly 9 months after our marriage. Since their visas don't expire until August 2008, I'm planning to file to adjust status in September 2007, fully 11 months before their multiple entry K3 visas expire. The idea is to have the AOS interview after our two year wedding anniversary, resulting in 10 year green cards and skipping the Removal of Conditions. We have our reasons for doing this beyond simply the convenience of an additional process.

In the interim my wife filed for and received EAD. We'll do the same for the daughter shortly.

Some people I've talked to think this is a crazy risky idea. I don't think so. We don't plan to travel anyplace that would require a green card for admittance and they are both free to visit their homeland as often as they wish in the interim.

    Any comments are welcome.

Dear One, I am not too sure if u think u will definitely have the 10 yr status. And I think that AOS is not dependant on when u married. It is more on when ur status was approved. Kindly check this again before u delay the filing process. Good luck.

  3. Ok, so I called up the closest Civil Surgeon in State College, faxed them my hubby and step son's vaccination records, as well as the actual form they need to fill out for us, and I get a call back saying my husband (who is 24) needs a Hep B shot (that will cost $120 for the first) though he was told at the London medical for his K-3 he did not need the Hep B series. The CS also stated they charge $80 per person to fill out the vaccination form. *gasp* I am admittedly new at this part of the process but that seems like an awful lot of money to copy information from one sheet of paper to another.

What have others experiences been? Anyone in Pennsylvania have a CS they can suggest that would cost less?

I had the same experience in California. I went to the AOS interview without the supplemental form for the vaccination which delayed ma approval until I had it done. In ma case, the hospital charged $50 for the some other shots than Hep B and transferred the vaccination info onto the supplemental form and that was all. I would suggest , in the event that u are not able to get a civil surgeon whose charges are less than what u have now, u better go for the former so as to have ur AOS go smoothly. Good luck.

  4. I'm in the same boat. When my wife asked the CPBI officer for a copy of the medical in order to file the AOS, the officer said all the paperwork will be mailed to the correct USCIS district. All we have is the vaccination records she initially took for her K3 medical. Can I just take this to a civil surgeon for the supplement?

Yes. take it to the civil surgeon for transfer of information onto the Supplemental form else they might not accept the vaccination card you brought from home nand that may delay ur approval. By the time of ur interview, ur medicals will be right infront of the interviewing officer. trust USCIS for that. God bless.

  5. Hey just a question regarding changing my wifes status from k3 visa to aos , the medical was done in london and everything went well and she is here in texas , i am going to file the AOS but what happens regarding the medical exam - does she need to go for another exam ? I have to look through the paperwork she brought over but she is positive that she did not get a copy of the medical papers etc ? if this is correct what do we have to do ?

There is no need for another medicals here unless USCIS has chnaged the rules. The sealed envelope containing her medicals which she might have given to the officer at the first border of entry in the US.Else then, u may have to sick professional advice. Good luck.

  6. How long does it take to receive the GC after you apply for AOS? I've seen some timelines where it took 3 months and others more than a year, so i'm confused, and a little worried.

    Thank you.

Do not be. I had ma interview on May 2,2007 and had my GC on June 3,2007. I think it took that length of time cos in between these dates, I have to submit some docs to the field office. So just relax and once u go for the interview and all is well, u will get the GC within days and u will be smiling like I am. God bless.

  7. I received my biometrics appointment letter today and it states that I have to go to the New Orleans ASC. The thing is, we live in the Florida Panhandle (Niceville) and figured our local office would be Jacksonville because that's where our neighbours went when they went through AOS (from K-1 like us). Is it normal for residents in the Florida Panhandle to have their biometrics done in New Orleans even if it's not their local office? :help::huh:

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

I think that u have no cause to worry. I did ma biometrics in Santa Rosa, CA and did ma AOS interview in San Francisco. They are all about 5 hrs drive from where I live in CA. So I guess u have to get cool heads and go for the biometrics and that will be ok.

  8. I've read the recent threads about vaccinations and the supplement form. The age related chart was most informative. However, my wife's vaccination supplement was done last weekend, so it's now a done deal for us.

But the question remains, was the hepatitis B vaccination that she was "coerced" to get correct? I know what the age chart shows, AND I know what's posted on the USCIS lists of vaccinations....

the question is: who has been required to have the hepatitis B vaccination?

I never did cos I took those shots before coming over to the States and that the medical officer who reviewed my vaccination card did the right thing by indicating that I did fall into the age category that needed the shots. So sometimes,I think it depends on the officer reviewing that. But hey,if it does not cause any harm to take the shots, why wait? Take it and the AOS card will be right at your door step the next day. Good luck!

  9. My AOS was marriage based. I arrived in the States my wife and I indeed did not know what to do.We sent docs to wrong institutions until later search then we were able to come to terms with what to do.To cut a long story short, I went thro the biometrics with a small hitch. This was as a result of the fact that the computer couldn't pick my fingerprint so the lady-officer(nice though) decided to do it manual and it worked.

Went to the interview on 1st May,2007 and by 17th May,welcoming letter had been emailed. On the 22nd May,2007 email notice changed to Card Production Ordered and on the 25th May,2007 it changed again to Approval notice sent.

Indeed, I have only received my welcome letter as of today, awaiting that of the CARD itself and approval notice in my mailbox.

    INTERVIEW

My interview itself which was scheduled on the May 2,2007 at the Sansome Office in San Francisco took a little than 5 minutes. Indeed, my wife and I were kind of surprised. We had the days before prepared feverishly, dreaming and thinking wild as to how this all-monster interview was going to be like. We got there and had just about 5 minutes to spend before the officer. The only question asked was the birthdate of my wife. And the rest were ma wife's employment letter and copies of her IDs.In fact,we had gone into this interview with two bags full of documents. My wife had one and I also had one besides two-photo albums. The officer was very nice.I have to add this.

    HITCH.

The reason why I could not have had my approval notice on the day of the interview was the fact that I had not had my vaccination records transferred onto the Vaccination Supplemental form I-693.So he recommended that I did that with an approved Surgeon by USCIS and asked us not to come back to the office but mail the form sealed to the Sansome address. We did that and that resulted in the approval as indicated above.

    TIMELINE

    1. Married June,2005 outside US.

    2. K-3 visa issued November,2006.

    3.Arrived in SF in November,2006.

    4. Files AOS in January,2007 at National Benefits Center,Missouri

    5. Biometrics in March,2007.

    6. AOS interview in May,2007.

    7. I-693 form sent in May,2007.

    8. AOS approved in May, 2007.

    9. Green Card got on Sunday 3rd June,2007.

    ADVICE.

Do not be bothered that much about the alleged negative experiences others face at the interview. Just go prepared. Say a prayer and ask for God's favor in the presence of the interviewer. The officers are as human as we are and I believe they treat each case with a human-face except when they have cause to suspect foul play. God bless you all who are yet to have your interview.
