  1. My fiance and I are in a similar situation. Our NOA2 expired a few days ago, and our attorney had suggested we go ahead and submit the DS-160 in order to show our intent to move forward so that we could get the extension. For the "anticipated travel date" I just picked a date a few months from now. If I recall correctly, the question immediately preceding the travel date question is whether or not you've made definitive travel arrangements (which of course I said "No"), so I would hope the officers will understand if that date turns out to be inaccurate, but I can only speculate.

Whatever you do, good luck to you. It is a difficult time and I wish you and  your fiance the best!

  2. Hi LibbyG99! I tried to accompany my now-fiance for a tourist visa interview (he was denied that) about a year ago and the security outside actually laughed at me when I asked if I could go inside. It might be different for a K1 interview, but I don't recall the security asking us what type of interview he had before they sent me away to wander around nearby. Would be great to hear from anyone else, though, especially if they have experience with a K1 interview.

We filed in September, received our NOA1 on October 1, and our approval (via the USCIS website) on January 30, received the NOA2 in the mail on February 3. Good luck to you!!
