I applied for my Passport 10 days ago in Miami.. I did not pay to Expedite it bcz i have no travel plans before Xmass.

I got the Passport last Friday !!!!! (I paid the over night return delivery). I did not get back my Naturalization Cert or Passport card Yet. My advice guys is to apply at the Post Office because they send the application on the same day.. If you applied at city hall..etc it might take couple of days to get it shipped..

So I called today the 1-800 number.. the agent did not transfer me to an immigration officer and he just took me info and placed a service request for my case. he said if i did not hear from them within 30 days i should call back.

so what do you think guys? do i need to call again and try my luck with another agent? or give 10 more days then try to make an info service appointment with my local USCIS office?

Last night at 2:32am, I received text msg and e-mail regarding FP notice was mailed out on July 6th. Phew! I feel kind of relieved!

I have a quick question, My status online still says that "Initial review: On June 4, 2010, we received this N400 APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case..... "

it is now more than 30 days and i did not receive my biometric letter.. do you think i should call and inquiry about this or wait more? when they say 30 days does this mean business days or calender days?

I want to ask about the names on the approval letter, They used initial for my first name on the letter i.e if you are John Smith the letter will say J. Smith?? Do i have to call to correct this or it is normal???

Finally the wait is over I got my approval letter yesterday..

The funny thing is how it happened.. I left the US in November 16th to Finland in a 10 days businesses trip.. when I came back on the 26th they gave my some hard time in the airport (Not because of 1-751 but the regular process to take you to a second room and ask you why did you leave?, how long ? ...etc and taking finger prints and photo again.. this the third time they did that to me) this took 45 minutes. and when they told me to go I was so tired and grumpy bcz of this and i was too close tom miss my connection.. I called my wife to tell her that I am in the US now and I finished customs and Passport control and she told me I just checked the mail and you got your approval letter :):) the date on the letter is 10/21/2009

I want to ask two things about the approval letter:

- I am a VSCer and my letter came from the Miami office ???? it is weird why it came from there?? is VSC so overwhelmed that it started to transfer application to local offices???

I called my wife to tell her that I am in the US now and I finished customs and Passport control and she told me I just checked the mail and you got your approval letter :):) the date is 10/21/2009

I want to ask two things about the approval letter:

- I am a VSCer and my letter came from the Miami office ???? it is weird why it came from there?? is VSC so overwhelmed that it started to transfer application to local offices???

- They used initial for my first name on the letter i.e if you are John Smith the letter will say J. Smith?? Do i have to call to correct this or it is normal???

I want to thank everyone and I hope we will close this thread soon and get all the approvals..

FYI.. my status online is still pending blah blah....

It doesnt become black when scanned, as long as you use a regular yellow highlighter, so it's safe to use if you want to point some things out, like your joint address, and both names on bills, for example.

To Just_Bob: While not required, the original poster CAN use the highlighter, like many of us have, if he/she wants to, there's no reason not to use it unless you can point us to the directions where it specifically says that highlighters are not allowed. And I didn't see where the OP asked for your input on question asking technique.

yes, you are absolutely correct: everybody can use a highlighter, run a red traffic light, or rape a child. No argument here. I just said one should not do it, not even in your home country, but you are welcome to do as you please.

All the guys responded on highlight on the supported documents not the actual form itself So do not stress out.... No one is running red lights nor highlighting the USCIS forms..

Ash83, PLEASE do not be afraid! Your 1-year extension letter (NOA1) will be honored even if you get the approval and green card while out of the country.

If they send you a notice for an interview (VERY VERY rare for Removing Conditions), yes, it is usually - if not always - at least two weeks after the notice comes. And you can reschedule it if you need to.

If you have a RFE OF COURSE you will be able to use the I=797C if you are out of the country! The reason they give the extension is so your stay in USA is covered legally during the process.

A lawyer at this stage is just a waste of money and won't do anything for you, so you don't need to consider it!
