Do you have a job? Usually the ability to get a credit card will be your job.
Yes, I do. And I received my green card already. I’ll research if my bank offers secured credit cards, it seems to be the way to go temporarily.

Hi,
I moved to the US earlier this month and opened a bank account. I also requested a credit card as it offers more protection against fraud, is useful for online transactions and would allow me to build credit score. It was denied though, as obviously I don’t have any credit history. It’s a chicken and egg problem really - how can I build a credit score without that?

Unfortunately we haven’t been able to change the mailing address to a US one for almost 2 months now. We tried several times calling, Ask Emma. It seems they use the same form/system as the online one and it doesn’t accept an old non-US address. We left our email and phone number hoping to be contacted by Tier 2, no luck so far 😤

You cant change an address abroad.
So is the solution to specify a US address (family) as mailing address? Thanks!

No, she will have to prove U.S. residency or the intent to re-establish residency when filing Form I-864, Affidavit of Support.

Hello,
My wife is a U.S. citizen and we have been living abroad for 1.5 years. We filed an I-130 in January and have recently moved. Filing our change of address has proven to be difficult if not downright impossible: the AR-11 form doesn't allow international addresses. We called the USCIS support but the agent was unable to modify our address. We sent a message through the USCIS Inbox but they answered that they couldn't call us (the USCIS profile doesn't allow international phone numbers). We tried Ask Emma, without success. I noticed in an older post here that people in the same situation have been registering a family member's address in the U.S. as the mailing address.
Any advice would be really appreciated!

My bank in the US is actually part of the same group my bank in Belgium belongs to but it didn’t seem to matter. As soon as I’m back in the US I’ll ask for a secured CC, that will work.
