  1. Hi all

I'm a little confused on how the SSN and Green card works. My spouse (beneficiary) entered the US last week. I remember reading that you apply for the green card and SSN on your first point of entry. However, they did not have us fill out any form or anything, just took our information (I'm the petitioner). I did ask the POE officer when we would receive her green card and he said 3-6 months, so possibly he applied? Anyone have more info on this? On the DS260 we did opt to apply for the SSN and we did provide the address to mail the green card.  Thank you

  2. Hi all

My spouse CR1 was approved. On her immigration visa it says "IV DOCS IN CCD"

On our piece of paper it says that this means we submitted our docs electronically and they will have access to it. It was my understanding that you receive a sealed envelope. Has anyone else experienced this?

There is a collection of reviews for each airport where people describe their experience.

See the menu bar at the top of the page. Click Office Reviews and Info> Port of Entry.
Then on the POE page that brings up, find the drop down to pick Dallas. Click the “Find entries” button.

    Great, thank you!

No issues.  I wouldn't expect any questions.  They have no reason to question your marriage.  That was the job of DOS before the visa was issued.  I have entered with my wife at Dallas for several trips.....I have never been asked anything

    Thanks!

Just passport and seal envelope......Dallas is pretty easy......but it took 90 minutes for my wife to process when she entered her (in Dallas).  Good Luck!!!

    Great, thank you!

Do you know if there'll be any issues for me to arrive with her? Would they cross question us or ask questions regarding our marriage? Thank you

  5. Hi all

I had a question regarding first time entering the US after my spouse CR1 was approved. We (my spouse from the UK who got the Visa approved and myself - US citizen) are planning to enter the US at the Dallas point of entry. Just wanted to know what documents we should be bringing besides the passport and sealed envelope they give us and what we should be expecting? Thank you

Before you ask...they don’t usually reply to that request or send some kind of entry pass, but your name will be added to the list outside. Bring your US passport for ID.

    Got it, thank you!

When attending, would I (the petitioner) be required to answer any questions on behalf of my spouse? Would it affect her negatively if I do or do not answer questions for her?

  7. Hi all

Has anyone attended or has experience of their spouse attend the consulate interview with their spouse for the London Consulate interview? I'm flying in to be there with her, however I'm confused on whether it will possibly negatively affect her interview. Would I be required to answer any questions (or would I stay quiet unless they ask me)? Thank you

    • YES  to the appointment date sent by NVC just to confirm you have an appointment.
    • YES to the courier confirmation you printed.

Thanks for all the information above, I really appreciate it.

Sorry, I meant I am the petitioner, but the above checklist I listed is for my spouse (beneficiary). So I believe she would need her birth certificate and my US passport copy?

Also, just to clarify what you mean by the above I quoted. What is the difference between the courier confirmation and appointment date sent by NVC? Thanks

Completing your timeline helps us know how to answer you.
Did you file the petition in the US and process through NVC?

Or does the petitioner live in the UK and filed the petition at the USCIS office in London (DCF filing)

    Hello

I am the petitioner and I filed from the US for my UK Spouse. So yes, we filed the petition in the US and it processed through NVC. Thanks

  10. Hi all,

So in the I-864ez, I had put my income as $55,000 as my annual income. However, my actual income (I had estimated) is (about $5 off) 54,995.20. Would this be a reason of concern during the interview if I were to show a letter from my employer that indicates my income as 54,995.20 (instead of 55K that I had indicated on my I-864ez that I already submitted and signed)? Would it be better to just show my 2018 tax return? Thank you

  11. Hi all,

I've seen a couple of threads regarding the interview checklist for the K1 interview, but nothing much recently on IR1. The K1 checklist makes me a little confused (As it seems like there's more documents such as proof of financial income needed) for that. So here's what I have for ours (interview is next week). Please let me know if anything else is needed. Thank you!

    • Passport
    • Passport (US Style) Photos (x2)

    --------------

    • Police Report

    ----------------

    • Copy of Spouse's Passport
    • Birth Cert (My Original)
    • Original Marriage Certificate

    -----------------

    • DS-260 (Confirmation page)
    • Completed/Signed I-864EZ (already submitted, bringing a copy of what was submitted)

    • Evidence of Income: 2018 Tax Return, copy of 2018 W2 (also have 2019 W2, 2018 Tax Transcript, and letter from employer confirming income just in case)

    •

    --------------

    • Proof of Medical (?) - do I need this? Medical said they forwarded directly to consulate, this was done about two weeks ago

    Anything else?

  12. Hi all

I know that for the interview NVC says you must bring the original copy of everything you submit. With my affavdavit of support I had submitted my tax return and W2 as financial evidence. However, I don't have the actual original copy of my 2018 W2 anymore, just a copy. Would they accept that? Thanks

No but you do need the confirmation page.

    Thanks

So on the email I received it says:

"How to print your Confirmation Page:

    1. DOUBLE CLICK on the attached file.
    2. From within Adobe Reader, go to FILE and select PRINT"

However when I click on the file it says:

"You have successfully submitted an Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application (Form DS-260). You must bring to your
visa interview proof that you submitted this form by printing a confirmation page using the below button. Do not print a copy of
this screen; use the below PRINT CONFIRMATION button to print a page with a unique barcode related to your visa application.
You can print a confirmation from this website at any time."

There is not "print confirmation button" but this page is the file the email stated and has a barcode and even says on the bottom:

"This confirms the submission of the Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration application for:"

So is this the confirmation page then?

  14. Hi all

For the interview does my spouse need to bring a copy of the i130 that was submitted, the i130 receipt, DQ receipt, etc? Do we need to be bringing anything related to the i130 (including affidavit of supports that we submitted with i130) or at this stage do they just want copies of whatever was submitted to the NVC? Thanks

  15. Hi all

I was a bit confused as to what financial evidence my spouse needs to bring for her interview. For the affidavit of support we submitted the signed document and a copy of the tax return for the last three years. Do we need to include anything else for the interview or just those things should suffice? What about a tax return transcript, is that necessary? Also, with the new tax season in process, do I need to submit my W2s for 2019 (haven't filed taxes yet, too early), meaning are they looking for 2019 as well now (2018 was the latest when we submitted the documents back in November). Thanks

  16. Hi all,

My spouse's interview is on the Feb 12th and I was wondering if it's wise to either book a ticket from now, or after it's approved? I know that even after it's approved they say it takes up to 15 business days to receive your passport back. So knowing all of this would booking a ticket for March 1st be appropriate (or booking a ticket yet at all)? If not, then when would be a good time to book per experience
