  1. Congrats! You and your daughter are so lucky you got to become citizens together. It sounds like it went really well, very happy for you guysy :-)

    Hello fellow June filers,

I'm proud to be posting as a new USC!!!!!!!! It was very special to me, not only has it been a long journey (arrived in 98) but it was quite a moment to share with my 18 year old Daughter, Brynn. I am so glad that I waited and that we did it together, I know she really enjoyed the ceremony today and was very proud. She is a Nursing student at Temple University and 3 of her University friends came to watch the ceremony. It was so wonderful to see these young people so interested an impressed with the Ceremony. Afterwards we went to celebrate over a great meal.. we were all starving by the time it wrapped up.

There were 69 applicants and it all moved fairly quickly. Clearly they do this a lot, it was like a well oiled machine. The 69 represented 40 countries - simply amazing. They said they had a ceremony Monday too, so the total new USC from the Philly office is just over 200 this week!

We were called up by rows to verify there were no changes in status since the approval date and to surrender our GC's... we then were asked to verify the information on the Certificates is correct.

This process took about 45 minutes for 69 people! We all then stood for the National Anthem, then the Director was called to come to give us the Oath. He came and spoke for a few moment, we then watched a short video of others Naturalizing, a video of President Obama congratulating us all and reminding us of the responsibilities that come along with the priviledge of being a USC. The oath was the read and we were asked to repeat - we also pledged allegiance to the flag. We were then called up one by one to have a photo with the Director presenting each of us with our Certificates.

Once everyone received their Certificates there was a lot of applause, hugs, some crying... it was really really great.

The folks from voters registration were present.. so that is all taken care of.

M.Add - Congrats to you... can't wait to read about your day.

Thank you to all for the support.. It has been great to come her often and see how others are moving along in the process.

Oh, can someone change my status to USC and make me RED, Please....

Thank you!!!!!!!!! Taniya... I hope you get your letter soon.

  2. How strange. I wonder why they didn't ask you for them. Hopefully you have a quick turn around!

Im sending everything again tomorrow !!!!!

    Good night.

    Claudia

My husband had a purple form and other people had green forms at his ceremony. I think the green ones were for people who needed a translator. They separated people by the color of their forms but I have no idea what the colors mean. Maybe you are categorized by A number?

From what I heard is that you should not fill out the back of the oath letter until you are there. However, you will need to check that you have traveled and I don't remember if there was space on the document for writing down additional notes. I am curious though about the "blue form". I received a regular white sheet of paper with oath information written on it. Do you have something different?

  3. Ok, so here is the review of my husband's interview in Boston! He got there around 2:15 I think (appt at 2:30). They took him around 3pm and by 3:15 I had a text from him saying he had passed the test. He said it was very serious when he was in there, but pretty straight forward. They had a HUGE file on us from the past 5 years of sending information in! After the testing, writing, reading he had to wait about 40 minutes for the oath date, which was October 13th. Unfortunately, we will be in Florida and unable to do the oath that day, so he wrote in when he was available and we have to wait for the oath date in the mail. Hopefully it's not held up too long! I was shocked the date they gave us was only 2 weeks away too! If you have any questions or I missed anything, let me know! Also, only 6 questions because he got them all correct in a row.

    Questions:

Name a state that borders Canada.

    How many Senators are there?

What ocean is on the East Coast?

    What is freedom of religion?

    When was the Constitution written?

What age must someone enroll in the selective service?

  4. How come they ask for your country's passports? They don't cancel them right??

It seems like we received similar requests!

The way I look at it is I cannot show them what I don't have, since my old passport has been returned to my government. Therefore, I believe that they will understand that. My feeling is they only ask this to verify travel dates - we are legal residents and passports are not required to live and obtain citizenship here.

  5. Congrats!!

Had my interview last Wednesday. Everything went smooth and quick. Can't remember some of the test questions, but the hardest was "Why did the Colonies fight England".

Everything was complete within 60m including verifying everything in the paperwork submitted (to verify that I know what was submitted).

Some of the questions were "How many Senators, Who's the VP, What's one of the longest rivers, What is the last day to file taxes..."; don't remember any of the others.

Waiting for Oath Ceremony to be scheduled and find out the location of it as well.

  6. Were you at the Boston office? Do you know where the oath ceremony is? Glad you were approved, yay! Maybe we will see you at the ceremony!

Thank you :) Got approved today. Everything was extremely fast and easy. The officer just went through the Form, asked me to write "The People elect Congress", etc

Then I waited for 10 minutes to get the final approval and received the Oath invitation for October 26.

  7. Awesome news!

    Hi everyone,

Could our timeline be updated? We got the oath letter in the mail today.

Oath is Sept 27th in Oakland (we're in SF).

    Thank you!

    Congrats, glad it went well!

I had my interview today. I arrived 20 minutes early for my appointment. They called me 40 minutes later than the scheduled time. The IO was really nice. The interview went smoothly as I hoped for. Here are the questions as part of my civic test:

    1. When was the Constitution written?

    2. When must all men register for the Selective Service?

    3. What is freedom of religion?

    4. How many U.S. Senators are there?

    5. What are two rights of everyone living in the United States.

    6. Name one state that borders Canada.

    7. What ocean is on the East Coast of the United States?

I answered all of them correctly. I was wondering why they asked 7 questions when I answered all of them correctly. I've been reading about other's interview experiences and also was asked 7 questionswacko.gif

  8. Totally makes sense. We have a Disney vacation for mid-October and I was convinced the interview would be that week but luckily it's a week before!

Nope. I will be in Aruba. It will be way to expensive to rebook our tickets, the trip has been paid for months ago. And we have friends from other parts of the states who we are meeting there.

  9. That sucks, where will you be? Can you come back a couple days early?

Ahhhh.. my worst nightmare. We received our notices for our Interview ( Thank you USCIS... they kept me and my daughter's applications together the entire process... even our interview dates are same date/time).

Problem is... the date 10/05/11 - I'm out of the country until Oct 6th! So, I have to reschedule the appointment.

  10. Congrats! How exciting for you guys!!!

We are ready to be changed to red! Our visa journey is finally over!!

Thanks to all of you who have helped us along the way, and good luck to those of you still on your journeys!

We got a yellow letter but all it asked for was my husband's driver's license. What else do you recommend we bring? We have the last 3 years of tax info from IRS as well
