  1. Hello,

I will be interviewing at the consulate of the country I currently reside for a non-immigrant visa (petitioned for by US employer). I have been living in this country for a couple of years on the appropriate visa, however my intention is to return to my home country (where I am a citizen) upon completion of working in the US. I have strong family and financial ties to my home country and I plan to complete my masters degree there.

I would like some clarification about the process. On the Consulate website it states: "One thing to consider, for example, is in which consular district the applicant can demonstrate the strongest ties."  - how might this apply to my interview if I am expressing intent to return to my country of citizenship following my time in the US?

    additional information:

    • I have travelled to the US on vacation multiple times and abided by my ESTAs
    • I have previously worked in the US on the same visa I am applying for and abided by all rules including departure date
    • I have been living abroad for a few years, and have not returned to my home country since I originally left on my US work visa.
    • I am currently studying a course (that will prepare me for my masters in my home country), therefore I am unable to return to my home for an interview, as I cannot take time off at the moment.
    • All of my relatives live in my home country and I have no family in the US

Thank you for reading and for your help. I have yet to find clear information that applies directly to all aspects of my case
