  1. I'm in the same boat. N400/I751 interview in August. No response within 120 days. Reached out to congressmans office to inquire after 120 days. They basically said "some cases require further inquiry. Another interview may be scheduled or correspondence with another agency." I'm not sure how much longer to wait.

Thanks afrocraft for your reply. I have heard similar opinions to your approach. I think I'd leave that to be my last option. I'm assuming my application is left behind in the drawers and I'm just trying to see if I can do anything to make them open my application and make a decision.

How long did your application end up taking post interview? Did you find out if it was some background check issue or some other reason for delay? I'm also 5 months post interview with no response. Did you have to file a legal case to get a response?

Sounds like its a background check issue. Your last resort is the Ombudsman. Instructions on how to contact them are on VJ use search. But again if its background checks they can not help you either. You can also try doing a walk in for infopass if you are close enough to not have it be a major issue if they dont let you do a walk in. Finally you can try asking for a call back from a tier 2 or insist on them getting you an infopass through one.

I myself seem to be in a background check issue post interview (its been 5 months now). Do you know how long it can take if its background check issues post interview? Like could they possibly drag this out another 6 months? I ask because I need to weigh paying $5k for a lawyer to file a mandamus case.

Hey everyone! Great newssss!!!! Yesterday we went to the very last day of online scheduled infopass appointments at the Washington DC office.  Now any appointments have to be requested by a Tier 2 officer over the phone.  We found out that the officer who interviewed us "is no longer an employee of USCIS" and had thousandsss of cases pending waiting to be reassigned in order of priority date not interview date.  The lovely lady at the Infopass desk said that it didn't really matter that our case had been pending after interview for 143 days because a supervisor or new agent needed to get the file.

Can you elaborate on how you were able to talk to someone during the infopass appointment. I myself am 150+ post interview and it seems to be in background processing, but they also said they might just schedule another interview. My I-551 stamps is nearing expiration in less than a month so I'd like to get that re-stamped (via infopass appointment) and while I'm there I'd like to request an update on the case.

  5. Am I missing something, but for California residents isn't the California service center supposed to process the application?

If it is why is it missing the processing time for "U.S. citizen filing for a spouse, parent, or child under 21" as stated in: https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/675560-does-california-processing-center-not-process-uscs-spousal-i-130-petition/?

As of this post it only has:

    • Permanent resident filing for a spouse or child under 21
    • U.S. citizen filing for an unmarried son or daughter over 21
    • Permanent resident filing for an unmarried son or daughter over 21
    • U.S. citizen filing for a married son or daughter over 21
    • U.S. citizen filing for a brother or sister

I found some other posts by Californians applying for parents (I130) all going to the Texas Service Center? Is there definitive proof of this redirect (from California service center to Texas service center)?
