  1. Hi everyone! I’m new to the forums, I just created an account because I honestly don’t know what to do. I’m k-1 visa from Brazil and we filled out in august. We just got a rfe regarding my birth certificate. They are saying that they only accept unabridged records of birth certificate from Brazil because since two years ago Brazil stopped distinguishing biological parents from adopting parents in birth certificates. The copy I sent out is from a BC that was registered in 1993, but the copy was issued in 2019. The visa reciprocity and civil documents website says that BC issued after 2017 should be unabridged. I was registered in 1993, after my birth. That’s the year of the document. 2019  the date that they printed the certified copy. If I sent a copy of the birth certificate that was issued before that, would it solve my issue?
It’s unusual to have the unabridged records of your BC issued, so I’ve never had that and there’s no way I can’t go to Brazil to get it (as I don’t have my travel authorization yet). My parent who has power of attorney to get this document doesn’t live anywhere close to my hometown and can’t travel there in time to respond to this RFE... I don’t know what to do! Please, I need help...
