ooops I did not read that part. I stand corrected

It's ok, I am thankful for your help. You helped become aware of my dual status and without the help of you and other members of this forum my journey would have been very difficult.

thanks to all for reading and commenting!!!

Yeah to be honest  I don't know why they changed the rules. In the past you did not need to but starting 2016 you need a Canadian Passport to visit and transit through Canada. I have posted a link below from the government of Canada site.

    https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/dual-canadian-citizens-visit-canada.html

Btw if you are entering the US, you need a US passport to enter the US (If you are a dual Citizen), just like Canada requires now. My advise is to carry both your passports when traveling.

I followed your link and after a few clicks further down it looks like dual citizens do need to carry a Canadian passport and the passport from the other country they are a citizen of. But, there is an exception for American - Canadian citizen

    Did I misread this?

Yes! good point. Giving up your Canadian citizenship is done by contacting the Canadian Government.

Also another piece of information. Canada recently changed its law, in regards to Dual citizens entering Canada. You need a Canadian passport to enter. So you plan on visiting Canada. Make sure your passport is not expired.

I visit family in Canada every summer and since i became a US citizen I only use my US passport. I still have a valid Canadian passport. Do You know the reason why they require dual citizen to carry both passport when they cross the border?

  4. Two years ago  I became a US citizen. My question is am I a dual citizen of US and Canada?

The reason I'm asking is, The other day when I logged into my Bank of America online account I was presented with a pop-up that wanted me to verify some personal information. One of the things that they wanted to know was if I was a dual citizen. I did not answer the question because I'm not sure. Any help will be appreciated, thank you in advance!

  6. Thanks for all the replies, everyone.

I think what happened is my co-worker mistakenly said she need a "visa" to return to the Phillipines, when she really meant to say she needed a "passport". So, if she does need to get a new passport, does anyone know how long that would take?

Jasman..... to answer your question, she met her US citizen husband in the Phillipines, he was in the military there, they married and she came to the US afterwards. She currently has her 10-yr GC, but not US citizenship.

Tell her to call the philippine embassy and explain to them what is her situation rightnow. I think they can expidite passport just need to pay extra.

The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines 1600 Massachusetts Ave NW Washington D. C. 20036.

    Tel:(202) 467-9300; Fax:(202) 467-9417; Web: http://www.embassyonline.com/Main.htm

How long does it take to process a new passport?

If all documents required are submitted, the new passport may be released within five (5) working days from the receipt of application (do not count Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays). Due to the heave volume of applications received daily, immediate release of passports is the exception rather than the rule. Only in extreme emergency cases, such as death of a relative in the Philippines, and subject to the discretion of the consular officer, are immediate release of passports allowed.

  8. I have a co-worker (she was born in the Phillipines) who has lived in the U.S. for 16 years and has a GC. Her Father passed away today and she needs to return to the Phillipines as soon as possible.

Does she need a Visa to return to the Phillipines? If so, how long would that take in this emergency situation?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  10. My wife has been here and looking for a job since April. Still no lick with job search. Se has the usual loneliness associated with leaving her life behindas well as the added anguish of having left her adopted so behind in the PI. We are trying to make the adoption move butthe attorney there is dragging her knuckles and we are strugglig to get by on my salary. I dont make a great deal only 40k or so and live in San Diego county, one of the highest cost of livings in USA.

Now my wife is fighting with me always, complaining i dont ever do anything for her, she states everything I do is for my Daughter, movies once a month maybe. Yet I take her to free concerts, and out when I can but the budget just isnt there for entertainment until she finds work. She had finally started to try to bond with my daughter and it wa bearing fruit, but with her attitude it may just stp short soon. I mean this weekend i asked her if she wanted her hair done, she aid yes then and now she ays it wasnt what she wanted, thats $70 later and now she is yelling agin i dont do anything for her.

I gave up my life when she was in PI to support her, for two years I did VERY little with my kid, ad nearly gave up on my second daughter(didnt fight for custody thru attorney exspense). I wrked major overtime, didn take my kid to but maybe two movies in those two years. Now my wif is here and I been wanting to do something special formy daughter before school starts again. So I made camping reservations at Doheny statebeach for ONE night next week and wife is threatening nt to go because everything i do is for my kids. I mean Mywife was living with her mom and coulnt stand it so i built her a house fo 7k. Im at a loss but iknow she needs freinds and work.

I hope she can adjust because even I KNOW I'm a good man I cant take the pressure of this kinda life, work , cook for her, pay school for kid, live perpetually broke, never do nothing for me, let alone be able to just have a lazy day and then get bit** at for doing all i have done.

Any advice is welcome as well as any offrs of online friends for my wfe Rein

    Peace ALL

    I wish America had it

    Tom

    Hi Tom,

I think your wife is having problem with culture shock, and jelousy. I know the filipino culture very well coz i was born there she doesnt sounds like the typical filipina, how old is your wife? (if you dont mine) I think shes jelous with you child, with the culture shock it will take time for here to adjust, let her meet some filipino around your area then she can have friend to talk too. Goodluck and May God bless you!

  11. I have the same situation as you! what i did is, I check the WES website and send my school backhome a letter requesting my transcrip of record, then your school will send that record straight to WES, as soon they recieved it (WES) they will send you an email, thats the time you have to pay them i think i pay $150.00. Lucky me i got 165 credit which is Bachelor degree here in USA, then after that i send a letter to the Superintendent, their pretty good here! they send me an aplication to take the NJ teacher's exam which i haven't take it yet  i dont know just little scared about it :( Anyhow goodluck and i hope this help.

  12. I just recieved NOA and biometric appointment, :thumbs: but with my NOA thier asking me to provide supporting documents such as;

    1) Lease of joint tenancy (we dont have one the house is been paid off before we got married)

    2) Joint mortgage areement and/or property deed ( we dont have mortgage and the property deed is on my husband name, we did not bother to put my name on it because were selling the house rightnow, we sign a listing areement is that sufficient to send?)

    3)Joint ownership of assets????

4)Tax returns (we submit it already, should i send snother one?)

    5) Birth cert of child born from the marriage ( submited already)

6)Joint policies of life, medical, or car insurance. ( submited)

What should i do? should I re send it again all the documents that i already submit, how about the document that i dont have, PLEASE HELP! Thank you in advance!

  13. Can we discuss two topics I am trying to understand?

    Firstly, "Tampo"?

What is the best way to deal with this?

    Secondly, "Superstitions"?

What superstitions should I be aware of, as not to be disparaging to these beliefs?

PS. My nyoba will be here Friday, her despedida is Today (PI time)!

    Thanks

TAMPO if its your fault admit it say sorry but if you think its a none sense just ignore it let it go, or maybe she's spoiled???? and she knows how to play with your emotion. (just guessing OK)

Superstitions what part of the phil she came from?

  14. I was born in the phil. and when i was 20 yrs old we move in canada and its been 20 yrs now that i been living here in north america which you will think i will not have chalenge ( I call it chalenge insted of problem) with my american husband. That's what i thought too  i still have some of my filipino culture that i cannot just put aside, like helping family back in the phil once in while, raising my daughter the way i think is right but for him its not (this is a big one)

All i can say/advice with all american guys who is married with filipina, dont spoiled your girl, and dont say its up to you because if you say that! they will think its ok, make sure you read between the lines, and speak a little bit slowly if your explaning something remember english is not our first language. Remember guys it will take time for them to adjust with american culture, take it easy and communication is the answer for everything.

  15. Thanks everyone. We already have a visa. I've shared the story about the wife who has the ten year ban with her already. I'll just have to insist on this one. If she insists on the ceremony, we'll just turn around and do a K3 visa. There is no way I would ever commit visa fraud after all the trouble doing this has been.

Thanks for everyone's comments. Best case scenario we will have an engagement party.

let her read all the comments/advice that everyone's send you! goodluck.
