Thanks, I tried that but to no avail. Tried on two laptops, few different browsers, with compressing the file, removing the special characters from the file name, etc...

...but finally did it! I connected to the Internet with faster upload speed. So I'm posting this comment in case it will be helpful in the future for someone who's looking for solution.

I am having this same issue!  I'll try connecting at a faster speed.  Thank you!

    Hi All..

I know I’m going to have to talk with a Tax Professional about this.. and also think it’s somthing I should do sooner like before leaving Australia rather than later.. but

Can anyone explain in basic English to me the USA tax rules about my Australian superannuation?

Im hearing that USA doesn’t fully understand our super system given it’s enforced by government but run privately either by finance companies to invest or by SMSF (SMSF is what I’m thinking to do, but worried it will again further complicate things). therefore earnings on investments, interest etc end up becoming something like foreign income... even though the government here will tax it ? True?

Im in the process of migration and really want to protect my super from being eaten up by the IRS given it is a retirement fund similar to but still not similar to your social security... I think it’s closer to 401k but don’t know for sure.

Also, what happens when I retire? I know I don’t get my social security but will share my husbands... but how is our retirement affected by my superannuation?

Hi there, did you ever find an answer to this? Thanks!

That's the injunction affecting the I-944 form.  There's a different one against the DS-5540 and it is still in effect --

    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/update-on-public-charge.html

Applicants are not required to complete nor should they present the DS-5540, Public Charge Questionnaire.

    Ah, gotcha.  Thank you.

Hello guys!! I was just wondering if they will lift the Department of State’s public charge rule injunction anytime soon? Our case is on administrative processing at the embassy, will they ask for DS5540 if the block is overturned?

I believe the injunction was lifted.

@Jess & Mike I completed the DS-5540 for my interview two weeks ago and used a 'letter of opinion' from a real estate agent RE: the value of my property here in Aus.

This was free from the real estate agency who manages the rental of this property.

    Hope this helps!

@AliceH155 Thank you!  That does help!  Did the consular officer look at it?

Not required if you have sufficient income.  From the I-864 form instructions --

Part 7. Use of Assets to Supplement Income (Optional)

Only complete Part 7. if you need to use the value of assets to meet the income requirements. If your Current Annual Household Income [...] is equal to or more than needed to meet the income requirement as shown by the current Federal Poverty Guidelines (Form I-864P) for your household size [...], you do not need to complete Part 7.

Hi Chancy, my understanding is that the house valuation is not for the I-864; it's for the DS-5540, which is the form you present to the interview consular officer to show, among other things, his liabilities and assets. From what we can tell tho the officer may not even ask for it. He has full discretion.

  7. Hello,

Wondering if anyone has had to get a house appraised for NVC asset documentation? My husband (in Australia) owns his home and we were told he needed a house appraisal by a certified house appriser. Problem is, house apprasials in Australia are different than in the states, I think they're called house valuations. They're also several hundred dollars. We're trying to figure out if we actually need to get one of these or if we can just get market comps. Kinda a random question but thought I would float it out there and see if anyone has had one of these done.

    Thanks!

Hello everyone I hope somebody can help me...

I’m a little bit concerned... why on my uscis account on my docs they just uploaded 1 single sheet of paper of my whole form... I tried to upload the rest but it won’t let me cause it’s supposed that they already did it...  what to do? Thanks!!

Hello, I was wondering if anything ever came of the partial document you saw uploaded.  I went on my USCIS account today and noticed the uploaded document only includes like half of the pages from our petition.  I'm now nervous that they don't have all of our application.  Sounds like maybe the same thing happened to you?

    Thanks!
