  1. I'm trying to get more details on the financial requirements that apply to the K1 visa. In the searching I've done, it seems the income requirement is 125% of the official poverty line, and my father can co-sponsor for me to meet this requirement.

I, however, spent 2006-2007 abroad (where I met my fiancee), and I had no official reported income. I was teaching English and being paid in cash, and my income would have been far below U.S. poverty level (although I was quite comfortable with that income in the country I was living in). None of it was ever deposited in a bank account, and I didn't file any income tax those years.

I read that, even if you have a co-sponsor, the same income documents are still required. Is this true? What if I didn't have a bank account or any income tax returns (unless I go back to 2005)? Anyone know?

    Thanks,

    - Daniel

    Hello there Daniel,

I just read your post. I would like to share something I am not sure if this applies to your country. I am from Philippines. I just had my interview last July 30, 2008. I asked about co-sponsor but here in Philippine Consulate they don't accept co-sponsors on K1 Visa. I am not sure if same there in your country.

My fiance's income tax didn't reach the poverty level too cos he just had his job August 2007. So we're asked for proof that he's earning over $14,000 cos that's the amount needed for 2 person, my fiance and I. So we provided his salary history from August of 2007 up to the last salary he had this year which is July 2008. And they accepted it. Do you have any current jobs this year?

I asked about co-sponsor but here in Philippine Consulate they don't accept co-sponsors on K1 Visa.

Wrong! 99.9% of the time USEM does allow co sponsors for K1s.

co-sponsor for K1 visa or I-129F petition is not allowed in US Embassy Manila. you are only allowed to have a con-sponsor when you are already in US and filing for I-864 (AOS).

  4. As most of you know, I got here in the US on December 2008 on a K1 visa. Me and my fiance got married on January 25, 2009. Unfortunately or fortunately I got pregnant and now I on my way to 3rd month. In some ways I say unfortunately because I am having a hard time getting sick and my husband doesn't understand that. I learned some things I don't like about him that I never knew before we got married. Now, I wanna back out because it seems like I am not happy with him anymore because of his attitude and I have to swallow my pride most of the time. Is there anyway for me to stay in the US if our marriage doesn't work out? If there's none I guess I would still love to go back to the Philippines. At least there I have my family who could take care of me while I am carrying this baby. To those who have a child I know that you can sympathize with me. It's not easy to deal with pregnancy sickness and I need my husband to be supporting me and understanding me and help me on this but this doesn't seem to be the situation right now. Now, I don't know what to do. Please help.... thanks.... :(

hi there! i got here last Jan 2009 and got married Jan 25 too... you have to think a million times before you decide on things, pray for enlightenment.. i suggest that you talk to your husband, a heart to heart talk wherein he will understand what you are going through being pregnant... marriage is a commitment, its for a lifetime... unless if your husband physically and verbally abused you, then that's the time you get a lawyer to help you out... always remember that we are individuals, we have different ways of thinking and best way for a relationship to work out is to have constant communication and be open on how you feel... don't be afraid to tell your husband on how you felt, he will realized that he should act as a husband and soon to be father... it's true you will learn things that you'll not gonna like about him and he learns things too that he don't like about you, it's because you already live in one roof and it doesn't mean you don't love each other anymore... keep on praying, God will lead you the way... take care...

  5. i'm on the process of preparing all the necessary documents for my AOS. For those who are from Philippines and just recently submitted there documents on AOS, do we need a civil surgeon for the signature of I-693? i had my TD vaccine here in department of health, which the last thing i need to comply with medical and vaccine requirements. there is an instructions in I-693 that if we are K-1 Visa holder and already had a medical exam in our country (St. Lukes) we are not required to have another medical exam as long as AOS is filed within one year of our medical examination (St. Lukes). but what confused me is " A designated civil surgeon must complete the vaccination section". how will a civil surgeon complete the vaccination section when i already had all the vaccines i need???...:blush:

You take a copy of your DS 3025 and a record of the shots you received elsewhere [Health Dep]. The civil surgeon will transfer everything to I-693. LOTS of civil surgeons will try and hit you up for the full medical. Don't let them do so.

thank you so much for the information, it is very helpfull. do the department of health where i got the shots need to fill-up I-693 form number 6?. do the surgeon need to seal I-693 before he gave it to me?.thanks again...

  9. Hi everybody,

I got my EAD and my SSN while I was pending in my AOS, after my AOS was aproved I received a residential card that expire 2 years from the date I received it.

My question is Do I need to renew my SSC? or will it renew automatically?

If I was with my EAD card it would expire in april 2009, then if I need to renew my ssc I need to do this month.

    Thank you for your time.

The SSC does not have an expiration--it is good for life.

hi there! after you got your EAD did you go back to Social Security to update your status and for the changes of single name to married name? please help me, i'm confused too. we've been to social Security but they not give me SS number. thanks and Gob bless... :crying:

  10. :help: i'm on a K1 visa and my husband lost his job few days ago. we are confused right now what to do. can i still get my SSN even though he don't have a job? can we still file for AOS? :crying: what are the procedures on the case like us?we got married just a week ago but still our minds needs some clear information on what's the next thing to do. i hope you could help us give a guide. thank you so much and God bless... :innocent:
  11. How soon or at what point does this get paid, immediatly after entering USA or before ,or is it with in the the first 2 years, for a k1 visa ?

    Thanks

hi there! how much did you pay for AOS and EAD? thanks...

The cost of filling for AOS and EAD and AP is $1010.00

I'm just confused, why is it that some says that there is another check for something like $300+++? so, you just send one check to USCIS? just want to clarify the fees for us K1 visas, its just really confusing for me right now. one thing too, can i possibly can my EAD first to get a job?hope you can help me and thanks so much for the information. God Bless...

The cost of filling for AOS and EAD and AP is $1010.00 and yes you just send one check with your application. If you apply for EAD before you file for AOS the EAD would only be valid for 90 days from the date you enter the US, at the moment it takes USCIS about 90 -100 days to approve the EAD so if you were to apply and pay the fee for a EAD based on your K1 it would expire before you even got it and you would have lost the $$$ you paid.

thanks so much for the information...it helped a lot...God bless...

  12. please help, for K1 change of status how much fee do i have to send to USCIS? thanks..

    $1,010

this means that we will just send one check to USCIS for $1,010?i'm just confused with hearsay that its about $1,300++ for change of status. hope i will have a clear mind on this K1 change of status fees, its making me confused and i don't want to make mistakes in sending the check. thanks so much for the informatio. God Bless.

Yes, for 9months we've went thru a lot of things but its all worth waiting for... i love my fiance and with that waiting process we get to see each others strengths and weaknesses, it made the relationship more stronger... God is good, He made us see how important we are to each other... it was hard and tough but when you believe what your eyes can't see but can only be felt in your heart, its faith... we almost broke up then but i didn't stop praying yet i prayed harder, God was always there for us and He was our strength... everything happens we have to be thankful, it has all reasons... if i'll tell you what was the reason for our AR, nothing is impossible with God... God bless us... let's keep on praying and i'm keeping my fingers crossed to receive my visa soon... :innocent:
