Where was this? Cairo? I thought they didn't allow anyone else at the window?
Sure didn't let me at the window. Who knows, maybe Cairo is changing their ways.
Your interview was in Cairo though? Congrats on a successful interview.
Yes it was in Cairo. I think if one can make it to the sitting area inside the embassy, then it won't be a problem to walk to the window when your fiance/fiancee name is called. I think the look and the way one dressed and also the way one conduct him/herself are very important to reach the window. I was standing few steps away from the window behind my fiancee when the consular wondered who I was. Then she asked to speak to me and she was nice.

Just wanted to share with you the good news! I attended the interview with my fiancee and was able to speak to the consular who was nice. I think it makes a diffenrence to be there and I highly recommend it if your circumstances allow.

Wow that was fast! Was the medical done? police clearance, etc?
I wish the best of lucky for you both!!
Early this AM I rec'd an email from the embassy in Cairo:Dear Sir:
Thank you for your e-mail message.
Applicant has been scheduled for an interview on 11-JUN-2007 at 08:00 am in the immigrant unit in Cairo. Kindly ask applicant to be present half an hour earlier before the interview.

This is great news. But with short notice makes it hard to digest. My fiancee lives in Sudan not in Cairo. So she has to get a visa to Egypt, book a flight in 2 days ( very difficult given summer season) and be in Cairo by Sunday. On the other hand, I was planning to attend ( Embassy okeyed it ). This means I also need to book a flight for this Saturday to get there on Sunday! I don't know whether they will let me be physically with her during the actual interview. Does anyone has any idea? Any advise?!
Thanks.
Yes medical and police clearance were done. I think it happen so quickly because I sent them an email about how it was very inconvenient for my fiancee to make the visa payment only in Cairo. May be they thought she is in Cairo now and wanted to reward her for following their rules!

For the official site timeline you go to "immigration timelines" on the top middle of the webpage (right under the girl on the very left hand side of the pictures of people). Then click on add/edit my timeline and add/edit your timeline.
For putting it in your signature, go to "my controls" in the top of the webpage and go to signature and edit away.
Thanks!

Thank you for everyone who responded.
I tried to figure out the chances that the Embassy may update the list this month. Here what I came up with. The Embassy, according to their website ( http://cairo.usembassy.gov/consular/iv8.htm ), has scheduled about 40 interviews per day up until June 10. And roughly about 18 interviews thereafter i.e. from 6/11 to 6/30. This means they average about 40 interviews/day. Therefore, it's more than likely they will update the list with more June dates to bring the daily quata to 40.
I don't know whether this make sense to you or not. But I tried to bring some sense to this senseless process;: waiting for an interview!
By the way, I did email the embassy requesting to update their interview list days ago. Still waiting.
When did you send in your pkt 3? It's not in your timeline at all.
I sent in pkt 3 on 5/27.
I don't know how to update my timeline or to make it desplayed with my posting. Can someone help?

Just wondering how often Cairo update its interview list. It's been over 2 weeks now (last udated 5/21). I am also wondering whether they would add more June interview dates or not the next time they update the list. Thanks.

Hi all.. I've been a daily reader of most the threads in this forum. I've learned alot about this lengthy process. Thanks to you all. Some days I feel good reading others experiences. However most of the time, this forum increases my level of stress. I try not to spend so much time searching and reading, but I can't help it.
This is my first time posting. My fiancee lives in Sudan. She has to turn in Packet 3 to the Embassy in Cairo. (Sudanese consulate issues are handled by Cairo embassy). Everything is ready except the receipt for the visa fee. There's no CIB bank in Sudan. So I emailed the Embassy wondering what to do and whether it's ok to send in packet 3 and pay the fee later at time of interview. Embassy emailed back, qoute (Unfortunately, a payment receipt from the Commercial International Bank (CIB) in Egypt must be included with all of the required documents. She must wait until she travels to Egypt, pay the fees and then submit all documents in one packet.)
I don't know if they're suggesting she travels to Egypt, pay the fees, get a receipt, and then return in packet 3. This would be very inconvenient because this means she'll be traveling back and forth few times untill this is over. She's in school and can't travel now. Any help?!
