My son missed almost 4 weeks of school when we went for our interview. The school prepared a package of work and were very understanding of the whole situation. We did had to talk with the principal and explain why we were going overseas during school session. Unfortunately we can’t choose the date of the interview... I was hopeful that it was going to be during summer break but it wasn’t. Good luck with everything, keep us posted 🙏🏻

Wow, glad everything worked out well for you ! Our embassy is not that big so hopefully all will go well.

Sure, I will. I heard some people will be taking this form DS-5540 questionnaire for an interview just in case the consul will ask, now sure if it's required for everyone 🤔

    ds5540(1).PDF 94.54 kB · 4 downloads

I tried to find out the instructions for this form but so far nothing.  My question is what if the beneficiary doesn't work ? Will it be ok to fill out the assests/money that they share with the spouse who is working?

Hello everyone, finally I have something to share with you:

I had previously come on a K1 visa but never married the petitioner, even though have spent 4 years in the US with him. I just explained the situation, CO asked few more questions about him and that was it. I also said that I was too young to understand the consequences of my overstay at that time. I was 20 years old when I came here on K1

Thanks for the reply.  I came with a tourist visa and I was 19

Hi, nata38! Medical was super quick, I was scheduled for 8 am and was out of the clinic at about 10:30am. I attended my medical alone, but I’ve seen quite few ppl having a friend or a family member with them. The clinic I had my medical in was huge so there was plenty of waiting areas. I don’t see why you would have an issue bringing someone to the medical with you. The interview Itself  was about 5-10 mins long, it took about an hour and a half from the moment I got in to the embassy till the time I got out. I was asked when and where I met my husband; when we first moved in together, when we got married; she asked about our child, when the baby was born; asked where my husband is from and if he is currently with me in my home country ( we are both same nationality). As she was asking me those questions she was typing constantly on her computer, so I feel like that made the interview a bit longer . She questioned me about my overstay, what visa was my last entry to the US and why I didn’t come back home whenever I had a chance earlier...

Hi Jane88. Congratulations on your journey.  What type of visa did you have and how did you respond to the officer for your overstay?

I also got thought work and my husband is already a beneficiary of my petition but he still needs the waiver and that’s our next step. Can’t catch a breath!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for getting back to me. Hope to hear about your approval soon. When is your Received date?

My received date for the waiver was March 13,19 and the approval was November 8

Hi! Did your husband petitioned for you then? I just became a PR and will now apply for my husband’s waiver. I haven’t seen anyone yet that applied so soon right after getting the green card.

Yes he did. He got his through work and he petitioned for me five months after that. I didn't want to wait for five months but I had a newborn and I kept postponing . The petition took 18 months to be approved it was in California  center. I thought that was the longest wait ever. If you are doing it alone better start now because there's no law that says you have to wait.

I arrived on oct 20th, and doctors appointment was day after, it was annoying not having the information about vaccination costs, which over the phone when making the appointment, they told me it was going to be about 50$ but on the spot I was charged about 200$. My interview was on Nov 6, and I picked up results from doctor a week before the interview. All the paperwork needed to close the case with nvc (police reports, birth certificate, etc) was send to nvc, but I took a file of original docs that my lawyer prepared and organize.
I only presented the docs that they were asking me for and responded to questions with yes/no answers. Just 3 questions, what do I do for living, who is the petitioner and where Am I going to reside. That was it.
The most annoying part was not able to accessing to my email account, I had to fill an online form and with all my accurate info they let me access to my email account 30 days later 🙄.

This whole process puts everyone to a high stress level but it all goes away when you hear, “your visa has being approved”. So relieved now!!

    Congratulations! Who petitioned for you?

Thank you for the support guys but this is what it is.. today they denied my case didn't receive the paperwork yet but I will share once I have

Oh my! I'm sorry to hear this, just know that everything happens for a reason! I remember my husband's denial and how I felt but there was a change in the law and he qualified without even applying again. At least you have an option to wait for your wife to become a citizen and you can still apply again as you wait. The denial notice will shed more light so you can correct the problem.  I have also seen people on FB who were second time fillers and were approved

My wife will be eligible exactly on 06/01/2022 -- 1.5 years later for her citizenship.
After her application it will take an other 8-12 months to finalize.
Maybe 4-6 months more for my application..
So, total; 3 + years and I've already been waiting 4 years. and who knows how many times processing times will increase...
I know in the end I will get this sh.t but it's frustrating and sucking my life.. getting old to move on.. you know..
there is no answer from my RFe yet.. still waiting FYI..

Wow, I understand how it is to wait that long. It's almost the same as I since my husband still has two years to go. Your turn will soon come. This process requires a lot of patience 'cause every step has a waiting period.  Now I have to wait for the interview assignment. At the end we will all archive our goals as you mentioned.

We don't have kids either.. kids doesn't count if they don't have any health issues.. so, I've done rfe response by myself too.. attorneys doesn't like to work without getting paid.. I had a huge fight with him.. I hope I can get my approval I will not pay him after that.. I'll do the rest by myself 😒 I also have a legal entry to the US. Just overstayed.. and my wife is a PR.

if you don't have a financial hardships you must have health problems.. God bless you friend.🙏

Bariskurt, you can not do adjustment of status, when is your wife eligible for citizenship? My husband has two years to apply for citizenship and I could not wait any longer so I had to apply for the waiver and got approved.

Hi guys! Just curious to know if anyone have been hearing of approvals from people that applied through a PR? I read here a while ago  that applications through Citizens get preference and is faster?! I don’t believe that’s true...

Hello, I have been following this group but this is the first time to post in here. I got my I 601A approval in early November and my husband is LPR.  I'm just waiting for NVC to review and close my case.  My waiver was received in March 13th,2019.  I don't know if there is any preference to USC but mine was approved in a little over seven months and our main hardship was psychological and there was only one report. We didn't get any RFE. Our country is Kenya and I also came in with a tourist visa and overstayed.
