Okay, thank you! I will be calling NVC first thing tomorrow morning and my congressman as well. I will update accordingly.

This thread was started by me and "lives on" as others are giving great information on how to get NVC personnel to work for you regarding CSPA.  There has been nothing but success for those that have a CSPA protected at the "TIME" of their F2A (F22) petition being approved and visa priority date becoming "current".  You have one year after that "TIME" to file your DS-260 with NVC and ask NVC for CSPA protection.  Have patience and follow the steps others have done.  NVC is doing their job as the best they can so far given the stories here in this thread.  Your congressman is really not needed yet for any intervention or speeding up the process.  There is that one year window of CSPA protection before your filing of your DS-260 by law.  There is time for the system to work for you if you act as you are doing.

We finally have the interview scheduled for my wife's Green Card application. I read that sometimes it's possible to get the I-551 stamp in the passport right then and there if the application is approved. Is that standard practice (we'll be at the New York city office)? Do we need to bring evidence of a need to travel or any other documentation? Her Advance Parole has expired, renewal request is still outstanding after 120 days and we are planning to travel 2 weeks after the interview.

Like previous reply, it can be hit or miss at the Green Card interview to get the I-551 stamp.

I had a situation where the Green Card interviewing officer, after the interview and everything was ok'd, he sent to our home address a request for a copy of our marriage certificate.  I saw our marriage certificate in our file sitting in front of him at the interview.  One day after our mailing (copy of marriage certificate) to them was delivered with signature required as proof of delivery, the Green Card was approved.  One week later got Green Card in the mail.  Obviously, he was testing us.

Just best to let things play out, roll with the punches, and make travel plans after receiving your Green Card in the mail.

We are preparing for my wife's Green Card interview next month and I have two questions:

    1. Is it necessary to bring affidavits from friends who know us as a married couple? I saw somewhere that's it's only required in lieu of primary evidence (which we have plenty of, including our 1 year old son)

    2. Do we need to print out photos or can we show them on the smartphone? I hardly know anyone who prints out photos in real life anymore and we have a couple of them at most

    Thanks in advance!

    1. Since you have a 1 year son with your wife, just bring 3 months joint bank statements (front page with your current address), bring proof of renting or ownership of your domicile together (address that matches bank statements).  You will be showing your state IDs (with your current address).  That will be plenty.

    2. It does not hurt to have a couple of pictures printed out of your married life in America, maybe with any other extended family members.  My past experience just once was that the Green Card interviewing officer did ask to keep some pictures that I had printed out.  What he did with them, just don't know.

Your 1 year old child has a lot to do with the credibility of your marriage based Green Card.  Just need the other basics previously described.  Bring your child if you want to.
