Updating my status; i've passed and my application got recommended for approval.. God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm so happy .. now i'm scheduled to attend an OATH ceremony on Aug 26th at 12 PM in chicgao downtown.

The interview went smoothly... The IO asked me 6 questions and passed it, didn't ask to see any additional docs, had a little chat like we're friends, husband was there (outside the interview room). When IO asked me if my husband was with me, I said yes and she said "I thought I saw him there with you." Passed the writing and reading. Handed me a piece of paper saying I passed the tests and "Congratulations". Then she said I'll have to come back up to KC for the last time for the oath and that it takes at least 2 mos for their office to assign a date. I was in and out of the building in 10 mins. Then 8 days later, I received an email update telling me that they have placed me under oath scheduling, that was June 29, nothing since then.

My Civics test questions were:

1. What are the 2 major political parties?

2. What is our President's political party?

3. Name one state that borders Mexico.

4. Name 3 original colonies.

5. Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?

I don't remember the 6th one, but I know I answered it correctly.

A friend/neighbor of ours went through citizenship and it took her 2 mos to get sworn in. I shouldn't be stressing about the wait since it's the norm, but I can't help it. It's like a piece of meat hanging in front of me that I cannot touch at all. It's insane!

That's why I don't even bother calling, especially since the IO told me that it takes 2 mos for them to schedule oath ceremony. My online status since June 29 said "Oath Ceremony" which is basically telling me that they placed me in oath scheduling, and that I should receive a notice in 45 days... so basically, 16 days more of waiting for me. I can only hope

few questions to you if you may; How was your interview? was it smooth? questions asked? issues if any? how long it lasts for? has your husband attended? thx

I did those translations by myself. And I attached an affidavit with the following:

I (name) certify that I am fluent in both English and (your language) languages, and that the attached translation is a complete and accurate translation of the document enclosed entitled, Certificate of marriage. Then I bring them to a Notary Public who did certify for me, it cost $10. I sent the copies of them to USCIS with my N-400 file. I keep the originals for my interview.

Certified translation means that the person who translates it (you, for example) attaches an affidavit with the following:

I (name) certify that I am fluent in both English and (your language) languages, and that the attached translation is a complete and accurate translation of the document enclosed entitled, Certificate of marriage.

Put it together with a copy of the original Marriage certificate and the translation.

I've been dealing with USCIS for 6 years now and submitted exactly that at least a dozen times. Works like a charm:) Bring the original with you to the interview.

My question is if my original certificate is in a foriegn language ..what do i need to do to certify/register it in the US? when i've applied for my Immigrant visa i've provided a certified translation from a foreign translator where that embassy is located (Riyahd _KSA) .. i still have a copy of that translation .. do you think this may be acepted as a translation or should i certify it somewhere... or do i need a new translation from a US translator and registered here..

Please advise if you know the answer.. Hopefully i still have enough time to prepare such a doc.

I just dont want to see myself on rescheduling list due to insuffiecent translation docs.

I haven't accessed the site in such a long time.....

But here I am to see how you all are doing. I think I will start reading the citizenship forum to literate myself

i was able to travel overseas(vacation for 2 weeks) and i was so confident to use my permanent GC, i took the expired/temporary one just in case and there was no reason for it. when i arrived they asked me simple questions; where have you been and what was the reason for the travel and where you stayed and by whom. i have never traveled internationally thru the conditional GC but all in all i had a very nice and smooth experience with the customes officer; welcome Home was the dialogue's main subject.

i'll wait till next september 2010 so i can prepare myself for another journey with the CIS but this time for more fun; CITIZENSHIP

So annoying to see more than half of people who filed at the same time in CA getting approved, while Vermont center doesn't have a single approval from this batch (and probably won't have one for at least a month)

Good luck with your application.what i have sent is the following; Marriage Certificate photocopy, birth certificate for me and my daughter,ID, Green Card back and the front qnd the personal check. beleive it or not me too i thought they will ask for million papers more, but they have not asked for anything else. i've been reading what people usually send with their applications, and that bothered me alot. because i havent sent what people have sent.

about my SSA status, i beleive that i was under conditional resolution and now im not. thats why i was thinking about updating my data with SSA. so you think there is no need?

whoever asking what picture they use for the new card, the answer is the picture of your lovely face which they captured with your fingerprints; the BioMetrics picture is the one used for the new card.

im scared because i havent sent alot of documentations. maybe they will ask for more docs or assign an intreview's appointment.

New GC was waiting for me in my mailbox. In the mailbox there was also another envelope with the approval letter saying I would receive the card within 60 days.

For those of you waiting for the new GC, it comes in a fairly ordinary envelope. The paper is not the typical "green official USCIS government paper" that you can see through the envelope. I knew it was something from immigration because it was coming from Laguna Nigel, CA, where I mailed my application to.

Not that it really matters.... but I don't like my new GC picture. I prefer the old one

I have a question, is it the picture they took on your biometrics? I don't like my picture there if it is because I didn't put my hair down..lol

Yes, on my case it is the picture I took on the biometrics for the I-751. I saw the picture wasn't really good and I said "can't I keep the original photo from the first green card? " And the nice lady said "sorry my dear, we have to use the new one. That's why you are here for". My face looks weird on the new one...

And i gave them excellent answers on their survey as well.......

i did my fingerprints today, the officer was reallllllly good with me. it took 20 Minutes. its not realy early but on the scheduled day i'll be out of town, so i went to the ASC while crossing fingers. she tried to send me back but i explained to her that i cant make it on next saturday, and she was fine but she told me to reschedule it in the next time instead of just going there with NOA stating different time and date.

all good, i checked the staus of my case online, and the current status is "Initial Review" i dont exactly know what that supposed to mean. but i think i have to wait more longer. wish me luck guys. and Congrats for all who have done their Bio and have gotten approved and waiting for their card's production.

i did my fingerprints today, the officer was reallllllly good with me. it took 20 Minutes. its not realy early but on the scheduled day i'll be out of town, so i went to the ASC while crossing fingers. she tried to send me back but i explained to her that i cant make it on next saturday, and she was fine but she told me to reschedule it in the next time instead of just going there with NOA stating different time and date.

all good, i checked the staus of my case online, and the current status is "Initial Review" i dont exactly know what that supposed to mean. but i think i have to wait more longer. wish me luck guys. and Congrats for all who have done their Bio and have gotten approved and waiting for their card's production.

Hey guys, next week im having an appointment for my biometrics to be taken for my GC renewal (removing condition I-751)

i haven't sent any pictures with the application.

my question when they are going to ask for the photos in case they decide there is no need for interviewing me. do they use the old GC's photo or the photo which will be taken by the ASC when doing the biometrics. thanks for your help.
