How do I submit a 2 week plan? On arrival? Or it has to be done before hand?

I want to travel to Canada from the States for the holidays but I can not stay for 2 weeks . I just want to enter the new year with my hubby. Does anyone know if this will be a problem? What do I need to take with me to travel? I plan to buy one way ticket both ways and stay for 5 days . Please advise.
