I assume you understand the shortcomings of the k1 visa

I know that he would not be able to visit while the petition is processing. Are there any other shortcomings that I should be aware of?

Also, I believe that I should send my petition to the Texas lockbox location but I’m not completely sure that I am correct about this.

  2. Hey guys! So here's the situation. I met my boyfriend online about two years ago. We fell madly in love. He came to visit me in the US in June of 2018, and we had a wonderful time together. I decided to leave the US to live with him in Chile in September of 2018. I have been living with him here in Santiago, Chile for a year now. We would like to get engaged, and then, obviously, married. But we don't want to part.

Here's the trouble. I need to return to the US, as I have a job and family waiting for me there. I intend to return to Florida this upcoming January. If I file form I-129F upon my return (we plan to get engaged on New Years Eve!), we will have to part for several months while the form is processing.

We are willing to do whatever it takes (legally, of course) to remain together throughout this process, but there does not seem to be any way for him to stay with me in the US during this process. Do you guys have any advice to make this easier for us, or perhaps a way for him to stay with me for 90 day periods while we wait? I know that once I file for a K-1 visa, it would be difficult for him to be allowed into the US, as USCIS agents will want to ensure that we do not get married while he is visiting, and that he returns to Chile within the 90 days. But we're a great team, and separating for half a year or more would be very hard for both of us, as we are each others' main forms of emotional, mental, and spiritual support.

Thanks for your help, lovely people.
