  1. Hello to everyone,

My 1st daughter had her interview on March 11 2020 and she submitted her passport. After that because of covit they closed the embassy and we had to wait. In all this time passport her passport is with embassy. This year in April they contacted back to tell us they will need new police clearance and medical of her. Which she went and submitted. Now its been month and no response.

My other daughter and son had their interview on April 27th 2021 and they submitted updated police clearance and medical but even after a month we didn't hear anything about the visa status.

I sent the email as well but no reply.

Please kindly let me know how can I reach out to the embassy in cotonou.

  2. Automatic reply

The United States Embassy in Cotonou, Benin, is closed for all but emergency visa services. We have received your message and will respond only if your request qualifies for an emergency appointment.

This precautionary measure is temporary and due solely to the current pandemic. The Embassy remains committed to its partnership with the people and government of Benin.

The embassy is   closed on May 1.

This is the email I receive all the time, which is automatic. Not sure what step should I take to get my kids here as soon as possible. Please help.

  3. Hello everyone,

Earlier I had posted about visa process of my 3 children. There process is going under IR2 category. One of my daughter interviewed at Benin Embassy in February and they told her that they will give her passport back after security check, we have been waiting. My other two children were scheduled to be interviewed in March 14 th 2020 and because of Covid situation embassy closed day earlier. We called NVC and they told the case is already transfered to embassy so they can't tell anything about it. When we tried to contact embassy we didn't get any response. All the process is stuck. Can anyone tell me how long this is going to be like this. What should I do? I am very worried about my children. Please.

Here is All the info about ur question. from their Official Website.

If you received a letter from NVC saying that your case is documentarily qualified and that you are waiting for a visa interview appointment:

    • You don’t need to take any action at this time. NVC schedules appointments one month in advance.  The U.S. Embassy tells us what dates they are holding interviews, and NVC fills these appointments with cases in the order they become documentarily qualified.  Most appointments are set within three months of NVC’s receipt of all requested documentation. However, we cannot guarantee or predict when you will receive an appointment.

For your information. We didn't receive the letter but when you upload all the neccessary document online , from submitted the status changed to Accepted. In inbox we received the message documentary qualified.

Origin of country is Burkina faso and embassy we selected is Benin. Please let me know. Thanks to visajourney family.

Your math is off since you have no idea when the I-130 was approved.  You are just taking a wild guess on the approval date and saying OP's son should qualify based on that when you have no idea what's the true approval date is.

I would like to thank you for putting your effort to calculate. This was very useful. They opened the case; we paid fees and submitted the document last week. Thanks a lot again. Visajourney rocks.

The principle applicant is the person being petitioned directly. Since this is for children, there should be 2 petitions and therefore 2 separate I-864s. They are 2 separate cases and need to be treated as such.

Thanks. Understanding your explanation I will make 2 separate application.

While filling up for Child A, do I just have to fill up part 2 and nothing on part 3. Correct ?

  9. I am filling up the affidavit of support for 2 of my children. I need some help.

Whose name should I put in part 2  Principle applicants out of two children?

Can I list child A (oldest) as principle applicant in part 2  and in part 3 item 4a,b,c d again same name and 5a,b,c,d  child B ( Younger) ?

Can I use same affidavit of support for both the children and upload same on both the portal?

Please take example by Child A and Child B. Please help as soon as possible.

  10. I am permanent resident in the the country. On March 3rd 2017 ( priority date as well), USCIS received the application for my 3 children. When I sent the application at that time all 3 were younger than 21 years old. Last month we receive the Notice of Approval for all three children.  My son   whose birthdate is February 4th 1997 turned 21 year old in year 2018. We contacted NVC to obtained the case number from them, at that time we were informed that my son case will take longer because his visa status changed from F2A to F2B.

We would like to appeal NVC for this decision. When we filled the paperwork at that time my  son wasn't 21 year old and also USCIS took longer time to process the application.
