There is no need to provide evidence you live at a new address.  Yes, you can contact NVC, or just have your spouse give the new address during the interview.  They can check at POE to see if the address is correct.  Next written correspondence should be the green card, so very important.

What make me furious is this type of response, where are getting your information and why are you going people bad advice?     The NVC specifically gave me this information on how to change my address and what I need to provide to do so.  Call them, it takes 5-8 times to get in a queue  then once in the queue, allow yourself 45+ mins on hold to talk to an agent to only learn that what I wrote is the process they will convey.

  2. Hi,

if it is with the NVC,  then update via the ASK NVC form here:  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html

Be sure to provide evidence of your move (utility bill, lease, anything that indicate your new official residence).

You can check the timeline to email responses here: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html   They only look to be a week behind.

    Good luck.

  3. Hello - we had the same issue, for the ones where we were traveling or on vacation or not living there legally, so we just wrote that in the comments section and included the purpose of our stay (vacation or travel) and the duration of our stay (30-60 days) and did not upload anything -- there were about 4 counties of 10 listed that we did this for and this was accepted and our application was transfer to the US Embassy. The other 6 we legitimately needed to provide PCs for.

My partner has his Visa interview this week in Brussels, so I will write back if anything comes of this but this send to be the safest way to go.

    Good luck!

  4. To be clear, we were required to submit 6 Police certificates due to our circumstance which is complex - my partner LEGALLY lived/worked in 6 different countries, and was a resident of each country for longer than 6 months since the age of 16 (he is now 52).  He is a Belgium citizen (25 years) originally from Argentina and both our immigration lawyer and the CEAC civil documents listed the required country specific Police Certificates we needed which were: Argentina, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Canada, and Italy.  We have submitted all this with translations and our documents were finally all accepted late last week (after being a the NVC for over 6 months).

This was an incredibly painful and costly experience.  My partner had to fly to Spain and Italy to acquire the Spanish and Italian one in person since they were both "lost in the mail" according to administration, the Netherlands certifiate was mis-mailed and we had to request a new one,  and Canada was pure nightmare and we had to do it TWICE since the first time we forgot to request the below,  so I am sharing our pain to help others.   As for Canada - you need to submit original ink fingerprints to an authorized RCMP agent -  we used Fingerscan.ca they were the best price and had great customer service - they are very responsive via email.

Make sure you call this out in your request - this was the costly error we made by just asking for a RCMP police cert:

Procedure for Obtaining: To obtain this document, you must submit your fingerprints to a local police service or RCMP-approved partner agency.  YOU MUST STATE THAT YOU ARE REQUESTING THE RECORD UNDER THE PRIVACY ACT.  Do not select “Visa/Border Crossing” as the purpose of the request. You must also specifically request the record which includes the “RCMP National Repository entire holdings.”

Every case is different and I am sure the variables of each case may vary based on the applications history and details and from what I understand the NVC can request more or less -- we have zero control but it is wise to over-prepare.

  5. Hi, hate to be the negative one,  but based on your individual situation, it can take longer than the 60-90 day people quote from info you can find on the internet.  Ours took almost 7 months to complete for just the  NVC process to get the to the "interview stage" and our priority date is 01/29/2019 so it  took 9+ months from 1-130 filing to our with the USCIS to receiving our NVC case number. There is nothing strange about our situation and we have been married for over 6 years.   We had to learn how to be patient and that there is no way to speed things up,  you have figure out how to cope with the long wait.   My husband has had to stay in the EU and we have been  separate for over a year now since i are back to the US.  It sucks, but there is not much you can do but wait it out.

We received our NVC case number in early Oct 2019 - it took roughly 30 days to complete our application, pay the fees, acquire all of the civil doc w/ translations, 6 country police reports (yeah that was rough), and we hit the submit button mid Nov. with fingers crossed.

On 2/19/2020 the NVC finally revived our case / docs, requested several replacements / additional documents which we delivered very quickly (within 3 weeks).   It took then an additional 60 days for them to them to re-review and finally accept everything - so on 6/12/2020 we were finally informed that our case was sent to the Embassy in Belgium for the interview stage.

Now we wait since all of the embassies are not processing IRC visa only humanitarian and emergency request (i.e. non immigrant-requests).   With covid-19 and the canceling of existing interviews, anticipate a backlog wherever you are in the process because there is most likely a line of people infront of your case waiting as anxiously as your are.

Hopefully things will get back on track in July.   Good Luck.

  6. Hi we had to do this several times (like 6 eve rate occurs of 6 months)  - sometimes you just get an automated response and sometimes a real-live person responds it is a game of chance. Mid May there was a system issue and they had to do a mass email purge and they are now getting caught up.  you need to go here:

    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html

Submit any relevant document supporting the reason for change (we sent rental receipts and national documents to justify where my partner was and why we needed to change his interview location).  It was well worth the trouble because we were able to eventually get it moved.   You can track where they are in responses  here:  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html   it is pretty reliable and updated almost every Monday.

    Good luck!

  7. HI - my partner needs to acquire 6 police certificates and one of those countries was Italy.  He had to fly to Italy (pre-covid 19) and get his in person in Milan (He is from Belgium).   This was the quickest route after requesting via post and email failed (we even had a PEC email address) -basically it never showed up and added 8 weeks to our schedule.  Since you cannot go there yourself, the only option you really have is to pay ($$$) for a legal agency to do it for you.   I would highly recommend having whomever courier it to you (DHL, UPS) since the regular mail is not reliable at all.

    Good Luck!

  8. Hi,  hate to rain on your parade but we have to acquire 6 police certificates so the above info people are posting is correct.  Any country the visa applicant has lived in for more that 6 month since the age of 16 requires a police certificate.

    Two points of advice:

    1. Make sure you research the type of police certificate on the US travel.gov website you need prior to requesting it - each country has different requirements.  We made an error with one for Spain and it took an additional 6 weeks including a a flight to Spain to request the correct one in person.

    2. All foreign police certificate need to have certified translations if they not in English or have dual language.

    Good luck!
