  1. Hi there,

after my interview in Newark, NJ on 11/18/21 walking home with an RFE, I finally got approved and put in line for the oath ceremony. Does anybody from Newark have experience as to when to expect the oath notification?
    Thanks for any help!

    Timeline:

    11/17/20 - Receipt of N400

11/18/21 - Interview (with RFE to follow)

01/20/22 - Approval and put in line for Oath

Has everyone been following the news about the Trump administration and USCIS changing rules of naturalization to make the interview tougher? They're  trying to make the interview involve 20 questions, instead of 10. We need to get 12 correct, instead of 6. And they're also adding and changing questions. Apparently, the officer will also ask all twenty even if you get twelve correct early on.

    😞

Yes but I don’t see the issue. You still need to pass the 60% threshold - so relatively speaking it’s the same. If you’re prepared, it won’t be an issue to pass no matter what, I’d say.

My case was just changed to "ready to schedule for interview". Waiver case. Sept 2019 filer.

...and my card was supposed to be delivered today and now the status is “returned to sender” as the addressee could not matched with a mailbox lol. Not that my name was on it or so.
Gonna cry. This system either makes or breaks you. Today I’m feeling closer to second.

  4. Hi there,

We got the lucky (or unlucky?) news on 7/20 that our I-751 filed with EAC got approved. Yay - so far.
As I read through the approval letter, it is stated that I shouldn’t travel outside the US as long as I‘m not in possession of the new card. Bummer - since my wife and I have a vacay to Cancun, Mexico planned for 8/22 as we didn’t anticipate to get the approval at such an „early“ stage.

Could anyone with approval potentially share the timeline with me how long it took to receive the physical  GC after approval? Thanks - any guidance much appreciated!

Good luck for anybody still waiting!

    Hey Everyone,

I am also joining this club!

    08/21/2019: Sent in application

    09/26/2019: Received I-797 Receipt

    10/04/2019: Received Biometrics Appointment

    10/22/2019: Completed Biometrics Appointment

Heard nothing since! Traveling next week and feel a bit nervous that immigration will be weird about this!

No need to worry. Just bring your passport along with your expired GC + Extension Letter. Neither immigration nor the airlines give you a hard time.

I have travelled to Europe 2x already after expiration of my GC and haven’t run into issues at all.

We filed our service request on 10/9 and they said it could take up to 30 days just to get the service request completed. I checked the case status this week online and to my surprise our service request was assigned & completed on the same day (10/17). They said they mailed a notice and we got it on Wednesday of this week and the notice was dated 10/17. It was the NOA1 with the 18 month extension. Hopefully you will not have to wait any longer than we did!

Thanks - that leaves me with some hope receiving it until mid November. Need to travel...

Just called USCIS since it's been a month and no NOA 1. They said they'll file a service request and it'll be 30 days before it gets looked at. So, potentially 30 days for them to look at the request, and then potentially another 30 days to receive the NOA 1. Meanwhile, my husband has an expired license and cannot legally drive. I love this process :protest:

Why don’t you guys try to get the passport stamped? That’s what I have been trying and now awaiting for a call back from USCIS to schedule my infopass.
Let’s see how that works out haha

I'll keep hoping your paper copy comes through sooner rather than later 🤞 my husband's license is expired and we need the extension letter to renew his license. The waiting sucks! I plan on contacting them on October 9th right away if we haven't received anything by then.

Thanks - fingers crossed for you guys, too! Let’s keep each other updated!

Do you know where your file went? Ours went to Nebraska. We received the text on 9/13 saying the official receipt (paper copy) was to follow in the mail and we haven't received it 😒 I don't think it should make a difference though with how slow/fast they are whether you filed on your own or with a lawyer 🙂

We filed in Lewisville TX and it was then sent to EAC which is Vermont. Now I’m sitting here and don’t know what to do lol. Need to travel with my expired GC by the end of November.

Tried to call USCIS myself to see if I can get an I-551 stamp in my passport. However, they said it’s way too early lol.

So yeah...I really don’t know what’s going on. Kind of a reminder how it felt during the Adjustment of Status 😄

Currently counting down the days until October 9th when I can contact USCIS, only a week left! Going on 3 weeks this week and still no official receipt notice :bonk:

I’ve got the same issue. So far I have only received the “Courtesy Copy”; however the official original receipt notice is still missing.

Anybody an idea in respect to the timeline? I filed with a lawyer (don’t know if that makes a difference at all)...

    ...gotta love it!
