  1. Had the oath ceremony this morning.

Came in at 8AM. The guests went in the room. After 10/15 minutes, they called the new citizens. We had to register and give away our appointment letter along with our Green Card. The ceremony started around 9:20. Every one of the 129 naturalized citizens had to stand up when their country (from a total of 30 countries) was called. We took the oath. They showed a clip of G Bush welcoming us to our new country and telling us that from now on, we are "as Americans as the most direct descendants of the Founding Fathers". They then had a clip of the song "Proud to be an American". We then went to get our certificate. And that was it! We were done by 10AM.

I went to the SS office, applied for my US passport and registered to vote. What a full day!

My journey is over. I still don't realize it! :goofy:

  2. Back with some good news! Not only did I pass my interview, but I will be a citizen in less than 10 days!!

Below is an account of my interview experience in Chicago DO:

    • My appointment was at 9:45. We arrived 30 minutes early. They called me at 11:30.
    • It was packed, so I would advise sitting next to the doors in the area you have been assigned to. When the officers call for people, they don't always raise their voice. My husband was not allowed to go in with me. I saw some people going in with translators.
    • I got sworn in. The officer asked me 6 questions that were printed out on a piece of paper

      - How many Senators are there in Congress?

      - For how long do we elect each member of the House of Representatives?

      - Who becomes President if the President dies?

      - In what year was the Constitution written?

      - What are the three branches of our Governement?

      - What is the Bill of Rights?

    • He then asked to see my Green Card. Asked me the questions on the N-400 form. Asked to see my marriage certificate and my spouse's birth certificate (I gave him my spouse's passport.)
    • I had to print my name on the form as well as on the pictures.
    • He told me he was "recommending" me for approval and told me to go sit back in the room. The interview portion lasted approximately 20 minutes.
    • After waiting for about 20 minutes, a woman called my name and handed me the letter of appointment for my oath ceremony. I heard that they didn't have any spots left for this Friday, so I'm taking the oath on Friday of next week.

    Yippee!!

  3. OMG!!!!!! I got my interview letter in the mail today. I have to get ready for August 6th. Hurray!!! :dancing:

congratulations! That is very exciting (and encouraging for the rest of us!)

    K

Thanks! I must admit I'm surprised at how fast that went. The NOA date on the interview letter says "May 30th", 2 days after my biometrics. I can't complain.

  4. congratulations!!

Quick question for the ones that got approved do you guys see that when you enter yor case number and check it online, i know you received emails but i was wondering if you see the approval when you only enter your case number online and hit search

Yes.. the status online has changed as well.

Same here. When I check my status online, it indicates that the card production has been ordered.

Good luck to those who are still waiting! (F)
