  1. 1st, Thank you guys for all your help.

As it turns out SMS had his passport this whole time and was trying to deliver it to our old address. He called them every day and they kept telling him they did not have it. He ended up having to make a 2 hour trip north to our old house yesterday to get it.

We still have not gotten any response from the Embassy even though it's not needed now.

Such a fantastic bunch of people.

I plan on posting my timeline on here when Paul brings all the stuff so that maybe I can help someone too. We have been doing this since February 2006 so it will be a long ONE!!

Again, Thank you guys so much. You really have been very helpul. :D

  2. I thought we determined in your last thread - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;#entry873546 - that it could take about a month. Are you just now at the one month mark?

You never got any more concrete information from when you called at day 15?

The Embassy recieved it on the 7th of April.

At the 15 (working days) day mark they gave him authorization to email so he did. That was on the 30th of April.

As of today he still has gotten no response from the Embassy.

What did mags do about hers? She waited a long time too.

I emailed them (sans "code" ). Got a reply after two weeks. Buggars.

How long did they have it for?

  3. You might want to get his MP (Member of Parliament) involved. When we were stuck in a gridlock with our application, and were getting nowhere in our efforts to contact the embassy in London, our MP stepped in and used his contacts to get some straight answers for us. Sorted out a lot of stuff that otherwise would have delayed our visa for much much longer than it needed to be.

    Cant hurt to try...

Awsome. I will call him right now and tell him to get on it! Thank you.

What did the embassy say when you (or he) phoned them?

You know that stupid answering service, they just keep telling him to wait. But they have told him before that it doesnt usually take this long. There is absolutely no way to someone inside that embassy.

Sorry, I didn't know. We've never tried to call it.

If even they said it shouldn't take that long, perhaps its time to see if your congressman's office can get any further information from them?

We got ahold of our congressman yesterday...... Hopefully he can get some answers.

Yeah, that phone service they has SUX!!!!

  5. It's been 30 days since my husband has sent his passport to the London Embassy to get his visa. He has emailed the embassy several times with no response (He sent his 1st email on April 30th), called the expensive phone line, and has been contacting SMS regularly. Help??!?!?!?

  6. When I went for my K-1 visa, I got the blue slip and had to send the passport back via SMS, now for me it didn't take too long but it can take them awhile to issue, like mags said it can be up to a month. I found that with SMS they would confirm it was delivered but they wouldn't tell me it was back in their system unless I REALLY nagged

Thank you. He has been calling SMS every day. He's definatley nagging them. Bless him

  7. He 'sent' his visa to the embassy? What type of visa is he getting?

The turnaround time has varied here from person to person, but its *generally* pretty speedy (a few days).

I suggest contacting the embassy, either by phone or email, and making an inquiry.

He called the Embassy today after they made him wait 15 days, then they just gave him authorization to email them. Now he has to wait 5 days for them to reply to that. THis really sux. I havent seen my husband since the begining of January.

Unfortunately, when dealing with contacting the London Embassy this is what you have to expect. It's ####### but you just have to suck it up and deal.

If you could give us a bit more information about his Visa we may be able to give you a better idea of what to expect. :)

He just got his I-601 waiver of ineligibility approved. It was for an immigrant visa so that he can live here in Texas with me.\He calls the courrier people everyday to see if they have revieved it and he has verified that it has been recieved by the Embassy.

OKay, so he sent it to the Embassy via SMS?

If the Embassy have received it now it could take up to a month or so for them to send it back out. I wouldn't worry too much yet. It's a pain in the #######, but unfortunately when you have to send something in after the interview you get put at the bottom of the pile.

So hopefully soon. It's getting hot here and I was hoping to ease him into the HEAT. THanx for your help.

  10. My husband sent his passport to the London Embassy 15 days ago to get his visa- He still has not recieved it back

Anyone know what happens if they loose a British Citizens passport?

How long does the turnaround take when you send it through their courier service?

    THanks

  11. I-601 questions - My husband has been denied his visa-we have already gone through the process of the i-601 waiver and now he has an appointment on Monday. Can anyone tell me how the embassy goes about informing you of an aproval or disapproval?

Do you mean he was denied his visa at his initial immigrant visa interview and then was required to submit the waiver in London?

Did you receive any information from the embassy regarding the appointment?

Normally USCIS sends that approval notification to the appropriate Embassy for issuance of the immigrant visa. If the waiver is denied, the applicant will be notified in writing of that decision and the immigrant visa will not be issued.

Is it possible your appointment is in regard to something else i.e. fingerprints?

    http://london.usembassy.gov/dhs/uscis/ivwaiver.html

Form I-601 - Application for a Waiver of Ground of Inadmissibility

    Filing the Application

In certain circumstances, individuals who have been found ineligible for an immigrant visa under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) may file an Application for Waiver of Ground of Inadmissibility (Form I-601). The I-601 and the Extreme Hardship Statements (PDF, 16Kb) are filed with the Consular Officer at the Embassy where the beneficiary of the petition applied for the Immigrant Visa. The Consular Officer sends the application for the waiver and all the required supporting documentation to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office with jurisdiction for adjudicating the application. If the waiver is approved, USCIS sends that approval notification to the appropriate Embassy for issuance of the immigrant visa. If the waiver is denied, the applicant will be notified in writing of that decision and the immigrant visa will not be issued.

Hey there! Thanks for the response. He had his fingerprints done at the initial visa interview. His case on the web site for I-601 was moved to completed about a week before he got this appointment letter to go to the embassy. So maybe this is a good sign??? I hope so. Andy says they straight up sent him a denial letter so I am hoping this is a good thing.

  12. hi ,can i ask why he was denied ? and what did the notice for appointment say ? thanks ,andy.

He got denied for a crime invovlving morale turpitude, basically he got into a pub fight 10 years ago and got convicted of actual bodily harm. The letter just says he has an appointment.

hi ,seems odd ,not really sure how they would notify of approval/denial .seems strange they would ask him to come in ,did they ask to bring any docs ?passport etc?

No Sir. Just a letter to come in. He did say it wasnt one of those post cards. It was an actual letter.
