  1. UPDATE:

We had something really good happen:

We had the infopass meeting set for today 3/6 and were all ready to go.

What do you know, his EAD shows up in the mail the day before (we got in from a movie at 10pm and there it was..waiting for us happily)

after of course it hasnt updated status online since Jan

so i cancelled the infopass, we already sent out RFE reply back so waiting on Greencard now

  2. OK soooo! sigh of relief on one count - we got notice that the copy of our RFE paper was mailed out today.

so what do i do about the EAD issue? We filed in time and we just need it renewed by March 19th. Do i bother making an appointment regarding the work authorization since my husband's job is involved? We aren't past processing time so i dont know if i should. i feel like we'll walk into the info pass and they'll laugh us out of the room.

  3. Our green card case has been pending for over a year, and we finally got an RFE. RFE was for a new medical that we technically didn't need but instead of fighting it we were good and went and got the medical done and were ready to submit the form until ... my husband loses the paper that HAS to be returned for the RFE. what a nightmare. we try to find it but it is lost dead and gone. we requested a new one two weeks ago. we still dont have it. Green card RFE is being delayed because of that.

On top of that, we applied to renew his EAD in the beginning of Dec. He has a job and he needs either a green card or the work authorization card to keep working at his job. I checked the status on that application today and its still pending.

I have exactly one month to get a green card or a work card so that he can keep his job. I am in a new job and theres a potential lay off that may affect me.

    STRESSSS?

    end rant.

  4. Good luck - just wanted to let you know that when our file was transferred to California, we didn't receive our AOS approval until 8 months later - without an interview. So, while it is rare, it does happen. I had to renew my EAD and my AP as well.

    Thanks Kathryn,

well it appears they got on our case after we called, cuz we got an RFE to go get a full medical (opposed to allowing the supplement sheet as per instructions). So now we are making that appointment. hopefully all goes well and we get approval once thats sent!!!

  5. The RFE is for the I-693 medical form filled out by a Civil Surgeon. We dont have to return til April so lots of time. When we sent our case in we knew this may come up because when we read the guides here it said "If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement (I-693A), not the entire medical report. You may include the vaccination supplement with your adjustment of status application.)"

We did that, but they'd like the actual I-693 from us. we knew that sometimes people would get RFE'd for that regardless of the guide, so here we are. Now I just have to call around and see who will fill it out without a full medical. Though its been over a year since he got his vaccination supplement so maybe he needs a full medical anyways??

  6. We submitted our case about a year ago and haven't heard anything since the end of March 08. Now this morning hubby had an email update stating that they've sent an RFE to us. No idea what it's for but it's a little blah that we're going to have to get yet another package together... we just sent out a form to renew his EAD. It feels like this process never ends sometimes.

I know it could be anything but I'm assuming that its to prove our relationship is legit (i have a joint bank account, a lease, and photos..could send more than that) or unfortunately it may have to do with money, which will be more complicated since i left one job in sept and started a new one in dec and hubby is working now too. We make wayyy over the poverty line but just updating all that info is going to be a huge pain.

    anyways.

  7. Our I-485 has been pending most the year, and we are coming up to the time that we need to renew my hubby's work EAD card (I-765) and hopefully his Advance Parole doc (I-131).

I am looking at the instructions for both, and it appears to me that we dont have to pay anything for the renewals since we have already paid the new fee structure (that started in July 2007). Is this correct??? can i just fill the forms and include the proof that i filed I-485 (and passport photos, copies of card, I-94...)????

Also, I-765 has the question "Current Immigration status".. would i say "Adjustment Applicant"?

And it asks the office and date we applied at. Is that just "Chicago" for the lock box and what date do we use? we were transferred to CA but we didnt originally file there...

  8. We filed for AOS in January 2008. We were transfered to CSC in February and got EAD and travel docs in March. Our last touch is in March and not a word since on a Green Card. Is anyone else stuck like this? Is there a line or something I can call for an update or will they tell me I'm still in normal processing time? I'm mostly concerned that it got lost or that we'll have to pay to renew EAD.

  9. i'm having a hard time understanding this. why are there people who get approved in a couple months .. we were transferred in Feb 08 and still nothing!

Same here. I submitted in late feb and got transferred 3-17 and have heard nothing.

I wouldn't mind being added to the waiting list...

    NOA1 2-27-08

    biometrics 4-12-08

    transfer 3-17-08

    EAD approved 5-02

It's frustrating! I'm afraid we're going to have to reapply for EAD/travel doc now which i heard costs money.
