you can call uscis and ask for your case number, usually it takes 4 days for them to receive the docs from DoS. 

If anybody is struggling with getting fav recommendation from DoS, it could make it faster if you email them and come up with some excuse for expedition.

Have you received approval mail already?

hi guys,

i've been waiting an approval notice from uscis for 13 days already, my lawyer received a courtesy copy by mail, and they assured that they will soon receive the original approval notice this week. Does it really take that long to get a mail or is it just lost somewhere? Also is it common that uscis mail a courtesy copy and original approval notice to the lawyer (g28)?

i am not sure, it might be a receipt notice since it is 797c.

Congrats! which state do you live in? My lawyer is in CA, and my case was approved on 13th sept, still no mail from uscis   nor they received receipt notice.

FYI

I sent all the waiver documents to DOS on Jan 4 and USCIS recieved my case on April 10 with favorable recommendation.

I had waited the approval notice for almost four and half months.

I couldn't wait more, so I had made inqury on "Non-Delivery of Notice" on Aug 17 because I just want to contact a person who is really handling my case in Vermont office.

They replyed on Aug. 23 that my case is still pending (need more security check?) and approved my case on Aug. 29.

I guess my case was just missing...

 

It looks like they don't care our case is missing or not.

Does anyone know how long does it take to get the mail from uscis? i've been approved on 13th of sept, and i have a visa appointment on 8th of oct. I am worrying because i still havent received the receipt notice which dates 4th of sept.

Yay finally got my approval from uscis on 13th of septermber, it was updated on website but i have not received anything yet (nor receipt notice).

my timeline:

Nos sent to Dos: 21st august

Nos received at DoS: 22nd august

DoS fav recommendatoin: 28 august

uscis accepted my case: 4th sept

uscis approved my case: 13th sept

the way uscis works does not makes any sense, there are cases from august that are still pending and there cases received  in september 4th and accepted on 5th lol

I just hope its an approval notice and not some other surprise, I am scheduled to leave tomorrow back home to wait for the H1B petition and I am leaving a full apartment with my stuff here.

 

I wonder how often USCIS goes against DOS recommendations or if it does...

same, my case was received on 4th of september, but my lawyer hasnt received anything from uscis. the status on dhs site says it was received at another office but uscis web site says it is accepted by lockbox.

My application arrived at the DOS office on Aug 3. I received the USCIS receipt yesterday. The status has been changed to "approved" today.

i called the USCIS today and they kindly told the receipt number.

22 august - NOS was received and DoS site updated

28 august - fav recommendation sent

4 september - uscis lockbox accepted

Question: I was already selected for h1b and waiting waiver to apply for the visa. Once i get the approval, can i apply for the visa or do i need to wait for the approval mail from uscis?
