  1. Hi everybody. I assume this might not happen so frequently, but I do not longer know if getting married is the right thing to do or not. I'd rather not to dwell that much into this, but as soon after I arrived into the US, after almost 2 years of being in a relationship with my fiance, things change. He wasn't nice to me, actually, he was cruel and mean in many ways, and I got sick of this. After two months and a huge fight, I couldn't put up with his attitude anymore and I broke up with him and flew to Chicago and Maryland, to see a friend and my aunt there and recover from the break up. As soon as I returned to Dallas (my back then ex fiance lives in Houston, TX), he came to Dallas, to where I was staying, and asked me for forgiveness, saying he had changed. It broke my heart because he seemed to mean every word, and I missed him and hated the way things turned out to be, so I forgave him and came back to live with him in Houston. However, I told him I didn't trust him like before, and I still wanted to return home and finish my studies. I am an archaeology student and am in third year, in my country, and therefore have 2 years left. Mi K1 expires on July 25th, and ever since I got back with my fiance, he tells me he wants to me my husband badly. He seems to have changed, now he's the nicest guy in the world, and we stopped having daily arguments. However, I have only been with him 11 days, after I forgave him and came back... friends say it might be a trick and lie to get me back and then cause me to live in hell! However, I love him and feel that he loves me, but I'm uncertain about the marriage. He insists he wants to be my husband... but we're running out of time! so if I accept him, we'd pretty much get married a few days after my visa has expired. How bad does this affect us? getting married after my K1 has expired, for a few days... this situation sucks, and I really hate the government for the few months they grant to engaged couples. I really wish I could get to spend more time with him, my biggest fear is to call the marriage off and once in my country, miss him badly and just want to be with him, or also, in case he has really changed, my fears are to think I could have left a good man go! anyway, any advice on the matter?

    Greetings.

    RUN! RUN LIKE THE WIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I spent 8 years as a friend to my husband, and married 2 years ago come October. I thought I knew him well. 10 years?

Your story, although some differences, repeats to me what I already knew in my heart when it started falling apart. You know it, too.

Pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and move forward.

  2. Run.... Run like the wind.

It's all very safe and romantic and wonderful until the REAL responsibility comes into play.

Trust me, my friend... I've been in your shoes and your story struck at the very core of my heart.

There are good things waiting out there for you .... run.

    Don't look back.

OK seems like I need to give some more detail here.........

My Fiance expects me to just up and leave with nothing taken care of.I'm not willing to do that since I would face serious legal issues.

He makes enough money to cover my rent until my lease would be up ,but he doesn't want to do that as he rather spends his money on a new bike, gun and other toys.........

He also expects me to come to the US without Medical Insurance for my son and me,my son has ADHD and NEEDS meds ,also he is a kid and accidents do happen.........

James does not support me and my son finacially and never has,we live off of Unemployment since due to my son's ADHD and him being at a special Day acre I can't work here in Germany for the lack of fulltime DAy CAre for a child like mine. The only family I have here is my sister and she works fulltime so she can't take care of my son either.

The reason why I'm flying out is to see whether this relationship could be saved.I wish I could just use the VWP but I doubt that is possible.

James has always started going crazy after we haven't seen each other for a while and it happened for the 5th time now.

He all over sudden became terrified of making this commitment and left me out in the cold again.

I have to go overthere to check out whether it can or can not be saved. If nothing else than at least to get a clean cut to the whole thing. And since he loves his money so much I know that he will NOT cover my rent or other bills until my lease is up which means that I would depend on Unemployment,so therefor we can't get married as by German Law he would have to fully support me finacially and I would no longer be eligable for Unemployment checks.

Unfortunatley James did not let me know about getting cold feet until AFTER the Interview........so now I'm the one that has to deal with it and to be honest I'm GLAD I did not cancel my lease any earlier cause now I at least have an apartment to go back to.

  3. OMG.... Teenager Hormones Kicking In and our lives are in the balance....

The 16year old has gone into a typical teenager rebellion... I flew to Canada on Saturday, we are leaving tomorrow to drive to Montreal for our interview on Wednesday. The 16 year old says he is NOT going to the interview, that if he does he will tell them that he does not want to go to the states.

What do we do? Will we be denied if he is not there? Will we be denied if he makes that statement?

Lord knows WHY he's chosen now after all of this time......

Anyone have any answers or advice? HELPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just want to curl up in the fetal position and CRY!!!!!!!

  4. Hi Urge!

Could you update my info on your spreadsheet?

Rec'd letter from NVC on 11-29. Letter was dated 11-22. Case received & sent to Montreal.

12-5-07 husband received packet from Montreal

    Woooohoooo!!!!!!!!

    Thanks!

    Congrats pennyflower99 and hum tum

Hey pkewl, good to see you back. Not to sound like our old friend gogo, but March filers (even those that had some troubles along the way) managed to bring their spouses in November. Because we filed a month later, we have to wait until February. 1 month later in filing makes it 3 months later in bringing our SO's over. How fair is that? Ok, that sounded exactly like gogo.

    hi all,

just got an email from embassy. They have sent my wife packet4 and interview date is 12-feb-2008. I have done everything using email. packet3 was received via email, and interview date was also received via email. Not sure about other embassies but mumbai embassy (india) provides very good customer service via email. I encourage others to feel free to use it. All my replies from embassy were very gentle with needed information.

I know atleast one person in this world is really happy today.

Congrats Hum tum... I am so happy for you guys. Good Luck

But talk about US Consulate, Mumbai... geez... look at it... Feb 12th... Thats like 7 to 8 weeks AFTER they have received all of your packets. So, based upon your timeline, I am probably looking at mid to late Feb or early March interview date for my wife''s K3 Visa, if all goes well with packet 3. I guess I will take a Feb/March date, better than NOT to have an interview date

Hi to ALL.... UTR, Ed, My Honey, Divine.. et al. Sorry I have been away from VJ for most of the part.. I ' ve been really bz at work and what not..but just wanted to drop in and say HI and GOOD LUCK to all... Hope things are going well with yall.

    Regards.

  5. Hey folks! Add me to the list :) See Sig below.

on a different note, i am hoping all of you here have the same wording written on the I-130 NOA2 as below:

"The petition indicates that the person for whom you are petitioning is in the United States and will apply for adjustment of status. He or she should contact the local INS office to obtain Form I-485, Application for Permanent Residence. A copy of this notice should be submitted with the application.

If the person for whom you are petitioning decides to apply for a visa outside the United States based on this petition, the petitioner should file Form I-824, Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition, with this office to request that we send the petition to the Department of State National Visa Center (NVC)."

    Hi G&A !!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

And wanted to thank you once again for keeping the awesome spreadsheet back when we were awaiting our approvals!

    Good Luck To You!!!

Let me know if you hear something from NVC - looks like we're the two Canadian filers in this forum (Lucky YOU gets to go through Vancouver - I hear the wait time for interview is MUCH faster than Montreal)!

  6. Better yet!!!! Congratulations on the birth of your child bouquets and/ or Bridal Bouquets !

My heart breaks when I read the posts from all of those who have not been able to be there for the birth of their babies or are hoping that they CAN be there for the birth of their babies.... gawsh I can't even imagine it....

Actually, my heart breaks for all of us - young, old, medium, medium rare, medium well and well done!! Tee heee!!!!

    LET'S DO IT!!!!

I think we need to set a date perhaps in August or September and give ourselves time to recruit all of the other forums....

I've been a reader, learner, waiter, but not yet a poster here (thank goodness I've read from all of the other experiences here - bless you all for posting your experiences and sharing what you've learned)

Start a new topic with a great subject line about the true meaning of the LIFE Act? About how our government "talks the talk" about family values but needs a little peaceful protest to help them "walk the walk"? Start that great topic in all of the forums that relate?

Oh how I wish I had more time to devote to this myself..... but I can't believe I've actually had the time to respond to this at all! And I don't know why I said "WE" in that sentence above about setting a date!!! GAWSH I WISH I HAD THE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I THINK IT'S A FABULOUS IDEA !!!!! IF ANY OF YOU HAVE THE TIME TO TAKE THE BALL AND RUN WITH IT PLEASE DO !!!!

Wishing all of you on this journey the VERY BEST and hope that you are ALL reunited soon.

    COUNT ME IN FOR CSC!!!!!

I think it's only fitting that we send Bridal Bouqets !!!!

    LET'S DO IT!!!!

USCIS Announces Revised Processing Procedures for Adjustment of Status Applications. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis

This response from USCIS is in direct respons to the protest they recieved. I seriously think we should organize something like this from this site. Who is with me, we will all decide on what flowers, once we have 50 members from VSC and 50 for CSC. We will all ship out the flowers on the same day. Let them know we exist and we are waiting for our approvals.

I am one for CSC. My goal is to hit 50 for each Center by July 25th Thursday and ship out the flowers first thing the friday for the flowers to be there by the Monday when the open the center doors.

    Who is in.

NO!!!!!! I think it's a fantastic idea and anything can help!!!!!

    Start a new topic?

I am dropping this idea for now, due to lack of response. I guess back to whineing about my approval :(

    Bridal bouquet idea is fantastic!

  8. Hi all!

Does anyone out there with one of those VERY common U.S.A. Surnames have any Visa Journey experiences to share?

I've just filed I-130/I-129F Spousal Visa and in order to cause the least amount of confusion with the already long process have not changed my last name after my marriage.... so therefore have an extremely common name.....

Have you Joneses, Smiths and Browns had any experiences you'd like to share?

I know that several times when renting a car at the TO Airport, they've had to go through their lists of people who share my name before they would give me the car.....

It makes me wonder what kind of speed bumps I can expect in this Visa journey? Despite providing all of the necessary documentation....

  9. Awww.... you're not a Noob...

Hope Springs Eternal in this haze of immigration :-)

    Hello all,

My husband was telling me today that you can use premium processing on the I-129F. By paying about a thousand dollars, you can get your case approved sooner.

I never heard of this... Did we miss out on something? Do people here use it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Nevermind, im a noob ;)

I found my answer, couldnt find out how to delete this though. No replies nessecary

  10. I'm not sure I understand why there is an issue with obtaining your passport.

My husband (a Canadian, Ontario) has legal custody of his two boys (my stepsons - ages 15 and 17) and that is all that was necessary to obtain their passports.

With legal sole custody, there was no question with the passport....

It has been a huge pain trying to get a passport for my future step-daughter. Passport Canada FINALLY at least took the application once we made the trek to an actual Passport Canada branch (in Windsor). The application was signed by my fiancée and the father, now, Passport Canada has called my fiancée and told her that they are cannot reach the father. Well, he rarely answers the phone when my fiancée calls and definitely is not going to pick up the phone for an unknown caller.

Will we still be able to get a K-2 if she can't get a passport? This is getting ridiculous. My fiancée has sole custody, and the father hasn't even bothered to see his daughter in about four months or longer. HE moved two and half hours away and doesn't use his visitation, not even when he literally lived around the corner. We want to live together 7.5 miles away and we are faced with all this #######. They were never even married, why does he have this much say in his daughter's life, especially since he doesn't seem to care one bit about it!?

Does anyone know how I can go about adopting her so we don't have to deal with that putz?

  11. I can't speak for everyone, but I know that in my particular case, every time I am absolutely POSITIVE that I know what I'm doing I find something else that I either a) didn't know or B) read so much that I forgot I knew.

I think a lot of the reason you are seeing 1-2 months is that when it FINALLY HAPPENS you've already gone through all of the "What the? What the? What the?" "Do I really have it together?"

And then, the preparation time to leave your native country.... especially if there are children involved... school, work, etc etc etc.

We all are in the same boat, but each and every boat is different, eh?

    :-)

    Good Luck To You!!!!

Yes we should all stick together and provided moral support (and some light hearted competiveness perhaps? :) )!

My husband (oh I love saying that :) !!!) posted I-130 for me and the children on 23rd May  . He is not able to check the mail regularly for the next couple of weeks so I am just going to relax about it all for 2 weeks! I already have the I-129f stuff put together!!

Best of luck to you all! I'll keep you posted

    Emma

HAHAHA I agree I love saying that too! I mailed my I-130 with the USPS today (to Vermont). It's terrifying and exhilerating at the same time. We're finally in the process! I already see the light at the end of the tunnel.

This thread is such a great idea thank you so much for starting it G&A!! I guess it's time to start on the I-129F now.. eek!

I noticed by reading some timelines on here that when spouses finally do get the visa, many of them wait a month or two before coming over. I talked to my husband (yay!) about that tonight and he said he wants to fly out the very next day lol. I wonder why they wait so long? After putting up all the money for all the trips back and forth and all the filing fees, I can't imagine waiting another day longer than necessary.
