  1. Jonathan,

Not to rain on your parade.... but you and your future wife have some mountains to conquer !

First after you get married.... get your wife a SS, drivers license and start applying for the AOS, EAD and I-131 travel parole, AP, I-751 remove conditions.... you will be up to your ________ with paperwork for the next two years.

Now if you try to sponsor her that will affect your I-864

    Good Luck !

  2. My fiancee from Peru recently got her K3 visa and is now here in the USA. We will be married soon. Her sister in Peru would like to live close to her in the USA. She is not married and is 34 yrs old and still lives with her mother. She is progressing very nicely in the english language. Would it be better to wait until my wife is a citizen and then try to get her sister here via the k2, or should her sister try for some kind of education visa. Also, how long would it take for her sister to get here via the k2 process? The local immigation office here in Dodge told me it could take 10 to 15 years. But the USCIS told me that it might only be 3 or 4 years.

First did your wife arrive as your fiancee or wife.

If she arrived as a Fiancee she would come here on a K1 and dependent children would get derivative visa , a K2.

If you were married before she arrived in the US, the your Wife would come here on a K3 and dependent children would get derivative visa , a K4.

A sibling or family member brother, Sister Mother Father etc is not eligible for a K2 or K4 visa

  3. Thanks All !!!

OK a stupid question... just trying to recap somethings......

DS 230 Ours was returned during our interview and told we didn t need it.... now I am a little confused because there was a question there about wanting a Social Security card.

How much did everyone pay at the Embassy.... There was a 131 MRV fee... what about the 400 USD Visa Fee?

  4. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were approved at the Caracas Embasy on Feb 28 and entered via San Juan on Feb 29 !

Thank You for all your help and support!

I attended the interview and can say they go thru great lenghts to make sure the facts are real ! Also was told they do not rely much on photos as they can be easilly doctored. We were well prepared with three expandable folders with receipts and documentation.

Met two couples there (One K1 and One K3) I don t think they had much luck

  5. Easy! Just fill out the W 7 and have hubby file it WITH his return. I had my wife [K3] do so while she was still in PI and didn't have any problems.

    They wouldn't except my daughters W 7 [K4] tho.

IRS will mail the number to hubby . Main thing is to have the 2007 Joint ITR. No need the ITIN at interview.

Attach letter explaining you,he filed for ITIN but haven't received it yet.

Why wouldn t they accept your daughters?

  6. Any tax return associated with an application for TIN will not receive it.[/font] This also applies to amending later on. So with that information in mind I decided to go ahead and file married separate. Just thought you all might find this helpfull.

Curious, where did you get the info that Any tax return associated with an application for TIN will not receive it ,when I called the IRS I was told that I (US Citizen with a Social Security #) would still receive a rebate but would not for my foreign wife or daughter as they would have a TIN

  7. Congrats EDP33, YGandMat

We had an interview scheduled for the first week of Feb and had to cancel due to Carnival , would not find a physician for the Medical. We were then given March 21 and due to a conference being held in Caracas we couldn t find air to Caracas

We now have the interview scheduled on Feb 28, 2007

Thank You for the Embassy Staff in Caracas who have managed to help us
