My husband filed for AOS on June 16th and we received NOA1 on June 23rd. We received an RFE on July 1st and sent in the requested evidence and they received it on July 20th. My husband still hasn't received his biometrics appointment. I submitted an e-request for an update on his case because it's starting to concern me a little bit and my husband is getting bored not being able to work. We moved and I updated my address with the post office and with USCIS and I received a notice that our address has been changed in the USCIS system. Also can my husband travel by plane in the US? Technically his K-1 visa is expired.

Yes, your husband can travel inside US only. Im in the same situation as his and I have traveled already couple of times inside US. Just show the passport as his ID and everything will be fine.

I''m also bored of not being able to work but there is nothing we can do besides waiting for the work permit.

I haven’t checked my I-145 status since last month due to COVID-19 . Today, while at work, I was tempted to check my status and behold! My status says “new card being produced”.  I wasn’t expecting this, I feel overwhelmed.

I am really short of words right now lol, feels surreal that the K-1 journey has now ended and the path to citizenship is now opened.

    Goodluck to everyone waiting!

    Hi,

Did you need to do your bionetrics? and how long did it take you for them mail your appointment for the biometrics?

    Thanks

Did you talk to them recently? Due to the current situation with COVID-19 they accept emails.  I did that without mailing my documents. They will state in you evaluation report that this is a  "provisional evaluation" which is acceptable by USCIS.

Hi! yes,  that is correct. I talked to them but it was little bit expensive comparing to another company so i decided to go with the Evaluation Service, Inc. http://www.evaluationservice.net/esipolic.html. After i did with them the IEE offered me 10% off but it was too late cause ive already done with the other company.

I am using IEE which is a NACES member: https://myiee.org/

Here is the list of NACES members which I found from i-944 instructions: https://www.naces.org/members

Non-UACES members are cheaper and faster. I don't know how strict USCIS is about not being a NACES member.

I just talked to someone from IEE and it seems I need to mail the documents. Because of that i gave up doing with them. I dont have time to send ot them by mail. And I agree, the company that isnt part of NANCES are cheaper and faster.

Are they NACES member? Because, it seems USCIS suggests NACES members for evaluations.

Just the degree equivalency should be enough, as they only want to know what is your education level. The USCIS does not care about your GPA.  I am planning to do only document-by-document evaluation, specifically asked the agency and they said that is acceptable.

To be honest just today i saw that the USCIS recommends to use any services from NACES. Which services are you going to do?

That's a good point... I sent them my transcripts but they did not mention it in the report and I was wondering why. I bought the document-by-document so it makes sense with what you said. But I would say that what I have should be enough for the I-944. You normally need a evaluation of the transcripts when you apply to a school or something.

Any other thoughts? I still did not send my package to USCIS so I do not know 100% if it's enough

ohh Ok! No more thoughts. I found another company where they evaluate the diploma and transcript for $110 (3 - 5 business days). I think i will go with that. Thank you for your help!

just in case someone want, this is the link of the other company: https://www.trustfortecorp.com/AcademicEquivalency.html

Yeah! I asked them that and both are $100.

For the form I-944 the immigration is asking for only the evaluation of diploma or they also need the transcript? the FIS told that if I actually want my transcripts evaluated (converted grades, converted credits, GPA) that would be the Course-by-Course evaluation report. But I saw that you asked for document-by-document. Was it accepted from the USCIS only the diploma evaluation?

Hi! Well basically when you start the process in the website they tell you to upload the documents you have so yes, scan the originals and you can upload them there.

Remember that they have to be in English or else you have to scan the official translations as well.

    I hope this helps,

Sorry but i have another question.

I will get the evaluation from high school. So it will cost me $100 (2 weeks). If I  add my Diploma and its transcript from university then the price will still be $100 for both diplomas and transcripts?

    Hi Dexter,

I agree with you that is safest to have the high-school degree evaluated as well, so here is what I finally did. I used FIS (Foundation for International Services) and request a document-by-document evaluation. They are actually really helpful and communicative, so they have been helping me with my questions. They do not need original copies of the documents, but if you send certificate copies or photocopies they state it in the final credential evaluation. I scanned and sent them all my high school diploma and college degree diploma from Spain, with legal translations, and for $100 they do the credential evaluation that USCIS needs (FIS is a member of NACES). If you pay more you have the evaluation done faster. Also, and this is important, if at the time of application you request it, they also evaluate the high-sschool degree, with no extra cost. So well, I believe this might be enough for the I-944, hopefully!

They explain it in the website: https://www.fis-web.com/credential-evaluations/

Hi, I have a question! Im thinking to get my degrees evaluated with FIS as well. So based on what you said I dont need to send any docs by email or mail to them, right? i just need to scan my original certificates in their webosite? Please, let me know. Thanks!

I have been able to get my transcripts evaluated through an acredited NACES member. International Education Evaluations (IEE) are still operating during the corona pandemic and can get you same day evaluation (expensive, but possible). This is a link to their website: https://myiee.org/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwmpb0BRCBARIsAG7y4zYPzSnhbu6EcTd0aMDtpXpvU9L514f9KdwmMHoqQxuAAF9yK6VHEIQaAvwCEALw_wcB

HI, sorry but when did you apply for the IERF evaluate your transcrips?

Hi thr! So Yes I got in touch with them twice over phone before I paid the fees and applied(completely online). The way it works is you start the application online and all you need is scanned copies of the original(good quality) to be uploaded. They do all the documents at once, meaning the high school and college from the foreign country. Atleast that is what I was told on the phone before I applied.

Regarding the I-693, I live in SC so its not as tight of a situation here and I was able to access couple of places for the medical examination. I went with one of the lowest costing one( $375 including everything). I dont think it is utmost important to do so while initial application, but the only reason I did it because I had to wait anyways for the I-944 evaluation and the I-693 will be in my hand(sealed) before that. Also I might as well send a complete package once and for all. Hope that helps, please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks.

I have a question. In their website they give you 2 options: 1) your school needs to mail or email de docs 2) you can scan you docs however they will contact your schools to confirm them. So you probably did the second option? but then it cost extra money the second option. I dont know why

Did an evaluation eventually. Took a week, $140 and they accepted copies of my diploma (I have my apostilled though). The company is called FIS.

    Maybe it will help someone.

Hi. So you just added a copy of your docs? the university didnt need to email or mail anything to them? I also have all my orginal docs with me and its translation. it would be easer if i only can scan.

No limit that I am aware of.  Just curious, were both rejections for the same error?  If so, time to get rid of your lawyer.

    Good Luck!

Thank you very much guys for your advice, I will not risk it and take the time to manage to provide an evaluation!

Hi! Im in the same situation as you! How and what did you do?

  14. Hi, I need some help with the Form I-944 for Adjusment of Status (for K1 visa). In the form they request about the education skills. Should I also provide an evaluation of equivalency to my degree from my university from my country?  I provided already my Diploma and transcripts but those need to be evaluated to a credential evaluation services in the US?

    Please, help me!

    Thank you!

    Good Luck!

I'm still not sure yet what was the second error because I contacted the USCIS and the agent told me about my case. I need to wait till my lawyer receive the docs and check it.

    Thank you!

  16. Hi,

I applied for my adjustment of status (I-485) and also the EAD all together on Jan 17th, 2020. For the second time my process was rejected by the USCIS due to improper filling.

Is there a limit to apply after beeing rejected?

Ps: I have an attorney since in the beginning of my process but it seems she's not beeing able to fill my forms correctly.

    Thank you!
