From reading USCIS service center reviews and interview feedback here on this forum, I think they say to generally wait 2 weeks for greencard to be mailed. If on the 3rd week it hasnt been sent, to contact them.

We already booked our flights but we gave it 3-4 weeks time to process and mail the approved green card. Just in case they want to be unhelpful again.

From reading around other places on the site I think that if we are approved we can ask for an I551 Stamp in her passport. Maybe we will have to go back to the office later in the week once we are oficially approved to get the stamp. This would allow her to re-enter the country without the physical green card. I will ask the officer in the interview on Oct 28. I will bring our itinerary as well showing proof we are leaving. I will report back what they say.

  2. Hello All,

Our greencard appointment is 10/28/2019. I know I am tempting fate by saying this, but we really want to leave the country on Nov 10 for a family vacation in Mexico.

Assuming we are approved can they Stamp her passport in the office? I have heard that is an option to allow travel / re-entry. It seems like if you are approved the card is produced fairly quickly. But it would be great to get something in the office so we don't have to wait. Anyone ever hear of anything like this? Thanks!

another question guys, my husband filed tax with his ex wife last 2016, in the I 864 form the total income that we need to write is his total income excluding his ex wife right? because they filed together at that time. thank you

Thats what I would do. Maybe add a little write up on a separate piece of paper at the end saying why the totals do not match the tax return.

So we definitely have a statement like that and a signature, but no official seal/stamp.  We had a friend do it for us.

I've heard you can get the translation certified through some online websites and that is acceptable enough to USCIS?  Or do we need to go find some place that would notarize or give me some fancy gold foil stamp?

Extremely annoying to us.  Especially because I have a business trip coming up and we don't have any idea what the RFE entails.  Can I call USCIS and would they tell me over the phone what the RFE is asking for?

My wife translated hers and signed them herself. Just a statement saying she had a working knowledge of both languages.

  5. Got the appointment letter for AOS yesterday with an interview date of Oct 28. Like a lot of people we never got the biometrics letter until way later, I think early September. But a week after getting the fingerprints done they sent the interview letter.

Has anyone had any luck moving their interview up? We are in the Cleveland office and Its less busy, so maybe there is a chance. I think they just auto schedule you 6 weeks out so who knows.

    Hi All,

I need to make a proper profile. here are the details - Wife is from Peru, came on a K1 visa. Date of NOA1 for AOS was May 24.

We got an RFE at the end of July for my 2018 taxes for I485. I had filed an extension so I didn't include them at the time of submission in May. I sent that out and the case status was updated on Aug 6 that the national benefit center has received the evidence and will be processing again.

The good news is at least someone is looking at it. But I have not received anything for biometrics appointment. I see from the prior posts that a lot of people are having the same issues. I will give them a call tomorrow morning and try to see what the problem is and report back.

Thanks all for so much detailed information. It has been helpful to me over the last year and a half and I figured I should at least make a profile to load in my dates to help others. Thanks.

    Hello,

Biometrics letter received 8/28 and scheduled for 9/11. It only lists i485 on the notice. We could have probably done a walk in, but it worked well as we were out of state on vacation most of that time. Hopefully we get scheduled quickly. I think the Cleveland office normally goes pretty fast. She is anxious to get back to Peru to continue planning our church wedding.
