We just sent GC application for my mom to Chicago office on 03/02/09. Checks have not been cashed yet. How long does it usually take for USCIS to cash the check? What is next, shall we expect a NOA from mail?

Can some body possibly share some experience?

I am getting ready to file the GC application for my mom (file I-485, I-130, I-864, G-325a, I-693 together). Shall I send the package to lock box address at (per I-485 instruction):

Chicago, IL 60680-4120

I noticed that the instruction of I-130 provided a slightly different address (with zip code 60680-4107). Can some body help to confirm?

Also which type of postal service is better, priority mail with return receipt?

Yes and No, The I-130 only requires G-325A bio sheets in Spousal visa cases. However your Mom will have to fill one out for the I-485.

I am the citizen to-be, and am planing to file GC petition for my mom. She came to the States as a visitor, and is currently in U.S.

My question is, I can file the petition for her right after I get my naturalization certificate in oath ceremony, correct? (we will file I-130, I-485, I-864, G-325a, I-693 all together).

Another question is, after we filed her petition and get the NOA (not sure how the process is, assuming there will be a NOA), can she wait for her GC here in U.S. even after her current visitor visa expires?

YES YOU CAN PETITION HER ONCE YOU RECEIVED YOUR NATURALIZATION CERTIFICATES IN HAND.

NO, AS A VISITOR, SHE MUST GO BACK WHERE SHE CAME FROM AWAITING THE DECISIONS OF THE USCIS, THEN SO FORTH AND SO ON. IF SHE DONT COME BACK TO NATIVE COUNTRY, THEN SHE WILL BE ILLEGALLY IN US AND THERE IS PENALTY OF 10 YEARS BEFORE SHE COME BACK IN THE US.

YOU CAN'T CHANGE YOUR MOM AOS IN THE US AS A VISITOR... JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE SHE HAVE TO GO BACK, YOU FILED YOUR PETITION, WAIT FOR THE USCIS TO GET HER APPROVAL, THEN FROM THERE ON ...PROCESS TO NVC ONCE APPROVED... THEN VISA ON HER HAND.

DO NOT TAKE THE CHANCE OF HIDING OR INVADING THE SYSTEM, OTHERWISE, SHE WILL BE PROHIBITED TO COME TO THE USA FOR THE NEXT 10 YEARS AS A PENALTY.

You need to double check the information you are giving because as a immediate relative of a USC she can file to adjust her status to LPR as long as she was inspected on entry and did not enter with the intent to circumnavigate the immigration laws.

She can remain in the US while her AOS is being processed and she should not attempt to leave until she has her greencard in hand.

Correct, a copy of W2 will show your part of the income listed on your return.

1. on I-485, Part 2, Application Type, shall we check (a). petition based on immediately available immigrant visa number (I'm planing to file I-485,I-130,I-864,G-325a, &I-693 all together), or (h) other basis of eligibility?

2. For I-864, item 24, My current annual household income, I only put my annual income here bcoz my income > 125% of Federal Poverty Guidance. But in item 25, Federal income tax return information, I have to put combined AGI including my husband's and my income, bcoz I am married and filed joint tax return. So the income numbers in item 24 & 25 looks a little bit inconsistent, IS IT OK to file this way? (I will include IRS transcript of 2007 and my w-2 in last 3 yr as supports).

3. If the answer to my question #2 is OK, my husband would NOT need to file I-864A, is that correct?

Hi aka.racer, it looks like we have very similar timeline. I never received NOA1 either, but just received biometrics notice today with an appointment next week. I tried the application number WSC*...... on uscis' website, it does not work. I wonder whether it will work sometime later, or my case will be just fine like this. Do you know some real case where the case number does not work, but the case was approved just fine?

That's it - we've made it to Star Status now . My case number also has a *.

Anyway, here's my report from the Biometrics Appt in Boston. It was at 1pm on a Friday. Short and sweet. I showed up only 5 min early, thinking they would make a big fuss about it, but there was absolutely no line. Barely half a dozen people in the entire waiting area. In and out within half an hour!!!

I can't wait for my interview now. Oh, and don't forget to pick up a copy of your civic questions brochure when you get to you bio appt.

Where can I find my case number? I haven't got my NOA1 yet, but I saw there are some numbers on the front and back of my cashed check.

Can any body possibly help me with this?

I had heard from others that my wife can apply for Citizenship 90 days before her 3 year GC anniversary as long as she meets the continuous residence (she has been here since 9/2004 with only a few trips out of the country and none over 2 weeks) and marriage (married to me a USC since 11/2004) requirements.

She received her original green card 10/25/05, does that mean she can apply end of July/beginning of August or does she need to wait until 10/25/08?

I want to be sure so we don't waste time/money applying early but would like to do asap since bringing her parents here requires her to be a citizen.

Any confirmation we would be grateful for.

"If you are applying based on 5 years as a Permanent Resident or 3 years as a Permanent Resident married to a U.S. citizen, you

may file for naturalization up to 90 days before you meet the continuous residence requirement. For example, if you are applying

based on 3 years of continuous residence as a Permanent Resident married to a U.S. citizen, you can apply any time after you

have been a Permanent Resident in continuous residence for 3 years minus 90 days. You may send your application before you

have met the requirement for continuous residence only. Therefore, you must still have been married to and living with your U.S.

citizen spouse for 3 years before you may file your application. You must also meet all the other eligibility requirements when

you file your application with USCIS."

Everything looks good now... looks like small list for month of May.... Well I had my fingerprint taken today at ASC Atlanta and was done in 15 mins.

I guess now real journey begins with USCIS and hope don't take as long as 751....

The address for your employer does not really matter. Just tell them who you work for and use whatever address you want. Lots of companies have many address and you can't list everyone. Use the one that you beleive it true, your W-2 will show you work for that company. As for your Husband US passport, that is not necessary the N-400 does not ask for it, just his naturalization certificate. You don't need to submitt copies of recoreded grant deed or monthly mortgage statements or copies of bank statements all of this is not on the list, never voluteer more information unless ask to do so. Check out PUB M-476 on the USCIS website.

Hi everyone, I need some help on the following questions.

I am getting ready to file N-400 base on marriage to a US citizen. Attached below is the list of my application documents besides the two passport photos. Does it look sufficient, or do I need to include more evidence?

1. Completed and signed form N-400 Application for Naturalization.

2. Copies of my green card (front and back).

3. Copy of my husband’s Naturalization Certificate.

4. Copies of the inside of the front cover and signature page of my husband’s current U.S. passport.

5. Copy of our Marriage Certificate.

6. Copy of my social security card.

7. IRS tax return transcripts for joint tax returns for the last three years (2005, 2006 and 2007).

8. Copies of recorded grant deed showing joint ownership of our house.

9. Copies of monthly mortgage loan statements showing us as co-borrowers (one statement per quarter).

10. Copies of monthly bank statements for our joint checking and saving accounts (one statement per quarter).

I also have another question on N-400 Part 6. B "Where have you worked?" Years ago when I filed I-485 Application to Register PR or Adjust Status, I put the headquarter addresses of prior employers for employment history. Now for N-400 Part 6.B, should I use consistent information and still put the headquarter addresses of prior employers, or should I put addresses of the offices that I worked in? The two addresses would be different. I am not sure whether information consistency is that important in naturalization process.

Four of the four last companies I have worked for with all these hostile takeovers, moving to China, etc., don't even exist anymore, so have the same problem with my resume. But I just use the last known address, what else can you use?

You would think Part 10 would be exclusive to such organizations that are anti-American, but that part doesn't state that, had the same question with the number of charitable fund raising organizations my wife belonged to. My attorney said list them, maybe in the future this form will be more specific. I would tend to spell out your acronyms, CPA may be interpreted as the Communist Patriot Association or something like that. Didn't see anything to explain what these organizations were, but did spell them out. AHA is the American Heart Association, and not the Americans for Hitler Association.

Hi every one, I just started preparing for filing N400, base on 3 Yr marriage to US citizen. This list looks much simpler than what we need to prepare for removal of conditions. Just want to ask whether this is all we need, or this is the base line, we need to add on more detailed materials (I had about half-inch supporting materials for removal of conditions)?

When you're dealing with USCIS, there's NEVER any applications that don't require extra documentation.

For the N-400, you will need to include:

1. Birth certificate of US citizen spouse.

2. Current marriage certificate.

3. Proof of termination of all prior marriages of your spouse and yourself.

4. IRS tax return transcripts for last 3 years.

In your cover letter, as well as in this thread, you might want to briefly explain what point you're proving by each item of evidence. Sometimes it's obvious, but sometimes not. For example, I assume the reason you're including the two drivers licenses is because they show that the two of you share an address. But I don't know why you're including your passport front page.

Most of the items will likely show you share your finances, share your home, and/or share a social life.

By listing the points each item of evidence proves, you'll help the person reading your submission to know what to look for. You'll also help yourself to organize the evidence, including the most relevant things and perhaps deleting a few things if they don't demonstrate a relevant point.

Overall, the evidence list looks good.

You only need to have the letters that you want to include as affidavits notarized, not the other evidence.
