Hi All,
I hope everyone is doing well...
I just have a few questions about moving to Florida..
1) How long does it take to get your Social Security once u land on US soil
2) Will i need to take a driving test to get another licence or can i use my UK one.
3) Does anyone know of any good websites for car insurance, where they give u a quote online...like uk sites.
Thanks
Andy

I really appreciate all the help I have received from this EXCELLENT forum and it would have been a nightmare if I had never come across it. The support has been wonderful and it's such a huge weight off our shoulders...now onto looking for a Job, a place to stay, a car, ermm basically everything! gosh i dont even know if i can manage moving anymore!
PS...i woulda opened up that Brown Envelope if i hadnt read that Post about someone opening it!
Thanks Again

And.....it was indeed a lovely Visa and MBE! Extremely happy right now, and I Feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
Lansbury - on my previous visits to the US (on student visas), I'd always been very impressed with the quality and prices of gyms out there - in particular the one I went to in San Diego was 24/7, which helps a great deal when you have a bit of a random work schedule as I frequently do.
NICE ONE
CONGRATS!!!
As for mine...im in the same situation as when i left the embassy 30 mins after u .
I'm ready to stay in england...
Speak to u soon

hi again all,
Can you please tell me what we should put on the I-864 form for Part 5 Q21.
If my father in-law has 3 children including my wife but all children are above 21, should they still be included in "if you have dependent children" they are all working full time. But live at home with him.
Thanks
Andy
If he cannot claim them as dependents on his tax return, then they are not included in the household size. If his income meets the requirement for his household size without them and he can't claim them as dependents on his taxes, then definitely don't include them. If his income doesn't meet the requirement, then the children and their incomes can be included and they would fill out I-1864A forms.
Thanks alot Margot for the reply...it makes alot more sense now. I will call him tonight and ask him
Thanks again
Andy
I LOVE THIS FORUM!!!

Snappy Snaps in Shepherds Market, Mayfair makes you check you are happy with the photos before accepting payment. If there is anything you don't like, they simply re-do them with no fuss.
The Chemist between Oxford Street and Grosvenor Square shows you the back of the camera before printing them out, and will retake them if you don't like them.
OK maybe i was unlucky with my photos but I'm only passing on the message from the woman at the embassy. The ppl at Snappy Snaps seemed to know what they were doing, but the actual finishing of the photo was not fantastic...this was at the Snappy Snaps in Southampton...they print it off on some home digital photo printer!
I wish i done it myself..

Hi All,
I wanted to ask if it was possible for my Brother in law to be a joint sponsor using the I-864A form. My father in law is going to file the I-864 but i also need a co-sponsor. They both live in the same household.
Thanks again
Andy

Just a quick message to all of you who need to get Passport photos done...
Try not to go to Snappy Snaps...they charge £10.99 for two photos and the quality is not good at all. The person at the embassy was not impressed by the quality and said not to go there to get them done.
Cheers!

Thanks for the reassurance - I don't know why the Consular Officer wanted me to send in both the I-864A and the I-134 for my Mother-in-Law (who is a household member to the co-sponsor, my Father-in-Law), but as he asked for it, I got her to include it for me.
Good luck mate...i hope u get ur visa soon...
As for me, i doubt my in laws have even printed out the form again....they are kinda slow like that haha
Speak to u soon

Hi All....
I have just got back from our Interview at the embassy today...the people there seem to be really nice.
Well, we arrived at 8am..it woulda been 7:30 if we didnt have to do a full circle around the building! got our ticket and waited...we were guessing who was "Future American" at this point...my guess was Number 3...
I was called to the little booth type place, number 1. Took all my forms and everything seemed to be going well...then handed my I-864 forms over...one from my wife (all zeros as she was a student) and our co-sponsor, my father in law, we had all the photocopies apart from a form called 1040, it's some tax return form. Anyway, the nice lady said i wouldnt get my visa today because of this... she told me to go and pay at booth number 15 and bring the receipt back to her. I thought oh gosh...i didnt see Number 3 (Future American???) do that...
I paid...took receipt back to the nice lady and waited for the interview...
The interview lasted about 3 mins..they just ask how we met etc and what we have to do now that the i-864 isnt up to scratch. Anyway, it's pre-approved so it's only the i-864 and i hopefully will have my visa..

Hi, I filed with the london office and i think if they are processing your application you should receive an email. Also, check your bank account to see if they have taken your $190 (if they have i'm pretty certain it's being done in london). Then..you will have to wait another 3 months for a reply....once you get your pack it should be smooth sailing from there.
Good luck

thanks all for the replies...
I have checked out rogaine over in england but it's quite pricey ...in the states it's fairly cheap, hopefully i'll still have some hair left when i reach American soil so i can try it when i get there....if i get there....

Hi All...this forum rocks and i just have a little question about hair growth....

Always reach the place 2 hours before the interview. Infact though the time given for my interview was 8:30 am, i was asked to be there an hour or so in advance..I went to the consulate the day before my interview to be sure of the location since it was not in the city i lived and was told by the security guard to reach well before time.
Further, be in semi formal or formal wear, that reflects your sincerity towards the matter.
Hope this would help!!
Dress for success. Generally, its good to arrive early but check on the recommended procedure for arrival time in the Consulate forum.
Thanks for the reply...i will start ironing a shirt tonight, even though the interview isnt till the 12th of june....i've lost soooooooo much hair over this visa application it's unbelieveable!
thanks again all.

Hi All,
I have my interview date now...but it does say a time too...does 9:30am mean that i will actually have an interview at 9:30 or will i have to arrive at 7am and collect a ticket at the embassy....then wait my turn.
Do you have to dress up for the interview? or will jeans and t-shirt be ok..
How long does it take for them to go through all our documents? im filing the DCF route...so I-864, police records etc is going to be taken with us.
Thanks again all (this forum is the best)

Congrats!!
I have been to miami on several occasions...she can expect...
Crazy & rude drivers...alot of road rage etc.
Sitting in traffic for 2 hours to travel 10 miles.
Many spanish speaking people...if she doesnt speak spanish ask her to get an electronic translator, or a spanish dictionary.
Good luckkkkkkk
