  1. My wife had her interview yesterday morning in Dallas at 9am for her US Citizenship and later that afternoon she had the oath ceremony and received her citizenship certificate and then we went and applied for her passport the same day. She told me the interview went well and was only 10 minutes.

Glad we finally got to this point and its finally over!

  2. I also wanted to know if my wife can travel abroad after her interview and before her oath ceremony?

Untill the oath you are still just a green card holder and you can travel with your green card

:help: at the oath ceremony they take away your green card and you cannot travel untill you apply and receive your passport

    Please confirm the following

Thanks. So this means after the interview and before the oath ceremony my wife can travel on her pakistani passport and with her green card to Pakistan with no issue?

Once she goes to the oath ceremony then she will give her green card and then she may apply for her US passport?

  3. Biometrics itself takes about 30 mins or less(depending on how clear prints they capture), however wait can be long. For me, it was in and out within 30 mins.

For the interview it varies. You just have to wait until you get the interview letter.

it looks like average of 2-4 months... but thers is always exception..

My wife is a permanent resident and we submitted the N-400 application. Within 2 weeks she received a fingerprint notification. My question is how long will the appointment take? I am hoping within 2 hours or less.

Next question is after fingerprint appointment how long will it be before she will get the interview for the US Citizenship?

Thanks for the information. How soon after the interview can you apply for the US Passport?

    International Travel

A Permanent Resident of the United States can travel freely outside of the US. A passport from the country of citizenship is normally all that is needed. To reenter the US a Permanent Resident normally needs to present the green card (Permanent Resident Card, Form I-551) for readmission. A reentry permit is needed for reentry for trips greater than one year but less than two years in duration.

  6. :help:

My wife is travelling out of the USA. Her K3 visa expires in August 2006. Her AOS application is pending her biometrics appointment is this week.

Question is can my wife still come back into the USA before Aug. 2006 even though her AOS application is pending?

It looks like she can travel with AOS application pending on her k3 visa.

Use of the K3/K4 NIV to Travel Outside the United States

    --------------------------------------------------------

    38. According to the BCIS rule, "aliens present in the United States in a K3/K4 nonimmigrant classification may travel outside of the United States and return using their nonimmigrant K3/K4 visa, even if they have filed for adjustment of status in the U.S. prior to departure "The Service will not presume that departure constitutes abandonment of an adjustment application that has been filed."

    39. Note that this is quite different from those holding K1/K2 status who are required to obtain advance parole from BCIS to avoid abandonment of their adjustment application with BCIS, if they leave the United States.
