For what its worth I got an imterim EAD when I first arrived in USA. I walked into the South Portland office and they said as I was in K1 status then I should be able to work so they made an interim one for me on the spot! It wasn't the same as the EAD card I eventually got (it was kinda like an old drivers license) but it was good for 90 days. It said me a lot of hassle as I could work and earn $$$. They were very cool, the security guy at the front door is extremely nice.

That was about 15 months ago so not sure if they will still do it. Good luck and if you are successful we should have a beer (or two) to celebrate, if you are not we should have a beer or two to commiserate (my shout!).

When I first came to the States on a H1B visa I couldn't get a Credit Card. I eventually got one from Capital One which had a credit limit of something like $300. I used this for a few months and before to long it was up to a couple of grand. I would recommend getting one ASAP as it is very important to start building a credit history.

I had a similiar experience as I went to Australia 2 days after my AOS interview. The interviewer stamped my passport and said I was good to travel on the stamp until my greencard arrived. When entered the USA again (2.5weeks later) the pulled me out of the line and sent me to the seperate room, I think it was because there computer was telling them that the card had been issued and they were wondering why I didn't have it on me.... after I explained that it was probably waiting for me at home they let me through

Yep they took my AP when they stamped my passport.

I got a temp EAD card by walking into my local office... I was lucky that they allowed this. They gave me a 3month card which covered me until I got my real EAD card. Not sure where your local office is but its worth a shot.

Congratulations! Hopefully your fiancee gets a work stamp at JFK. The airport will be fun!

Had the interview on Monday in Portland and was successful.

Have stamp in Passport. Interview probably took 5mins, very smooth.
