That I know, as I have legal residency now. What I'm asking is can I file, then leave the country or do I need to be present during any other step of the process. I don't want to have to fly back here.

I'm submitting my 1-130 at the Bangkok field office shortly. Do I need to be present for any phase after that? Reason being I need to head back to the states to start a job. I can only find information stating that I need to physically submit the first step.

So I'm about to file petition for 1-130 DCF from Thailand. Problem is I'm having trouble rectifying my US tax filings which I'll need for the next step. If I file now, after the petition is accepted is there a time limit on when I need to make the next step?
