The "joint" things that you sent, did you just send evidence of their existence at one point in time? They want to see bank statements, for instance, covering the whole period of your marriage.
What about joint lease?
And no, don't send anything you sent already.
I did provide ...copies of checking account statements showing a joint account.
Joint Lease- I am sending the letter from my landlady. We do not have a rental agreement/lease per se. The letter indicates the amount paid for rent and how long we have been renting
-
so we got the letter requesting more info. Very frustrating. This is what we included on the initial submittal:
- Copies of the passports and green cards
- Copies of two years of tax returns
- Original letters from my company of the designation of my life insurance
- Copy of a car insurance policy
- Copy of the title of one of our cars showing joint ownership
- Copies of mail addressed to wife (green card holder)
- Copy of our health insurance cards showing a joint policy
- Copies of checking account statements showing a joint account
- Letter from a friend
I was planning on sending the following this time:
- Copies of our DL showing the same address
- Copies of Tax Transcripts for two years with W2's
- Letter from bank verifying that we share the same checking and savings account
- Notarized letter from our landlord indicating that our rent covers all utilities and that is why I can not provide copies of utility bills
Is there anything else that would be recommended to include?
I was not planning on re-sending anything listed in my fist submittal. Is that a mistake?? Should I send items that were included in our I-130 from our wedding to the present?
thanks!!!

...well evidently just having the I-797 notice and the expired grren card in the dependents possession is not enough. USCIS conceded, after 90 minutes on hold that only the primary applicant receives the complete I-797 and the dependent has to have a travel doc (stamp in the passport) and only with that can she fly.
Sure wish I had known that prior so I would not have to pay the additional fees for a quick flight reservation for mom and daughter as well as the wait.
And here I thought it was the Nica system when it actually was the good Ole' US of A!!
Well now its to the Embajada en Managua they go...
-
I am getting nowhere with this. Is there anyone from the Nica family that has experienced this? The "Verification of Inclusion of Dependent" notice that was mailed directly to the dependent is being rejected because the dependents name only appears at the bottom of the form which was the Addressee.
Anybody with any experience with this please chime in!!!!

Today the airlines would not give my step-daughter a boarding pass because they said her notice was written different that the main page for my wife. Have they not seen these before? Since the document is proof that her residence status has been extended by one year they wont let her fly. I don't know what to do!!! Can some one from the Nica Portal help??? PLEASE
I need to add that she was trying to fly from Managua, Nicaragua back to Los Angeles

...I received the "Notice of Receipt" with the one year extension for the I-751 filling for my wife and step-daughter. However, the one page notice does not mention my step-daughter. Is that normal? I am worried that my step-daughter not having this letter with her name on it will cause her problems when she visits Nicaragua next month. She will be traveling with her mother but what if she didint? What proof would she have that she is here legally since her Green Card will have expired while she is in Nicaragua

...thank you Navyk. Do I need two cover letters- two seperate submissions? Or just one? If just one, do I merely reference that the application is for my step-daughter too?
thanks!!!!
please disregard, I found my answers and a sample cover letter!
-
Yes, it is one I-751 application, one application fee and two biometric fees (675 = 505 + 85 + 85). Enter this child's details in Part 5 of I-751.

really??? thats great news. I figured since I had to pay a seperate fee for the I-130 petion that I had to for the ROC as well
for clarification, just by listing my step-daughter on my wifes filing, my step daughter will receive-if all goes well- a ten year green card as well as my wife? name
-
if the step daughter was under 18 years old and mother came to gather to the united states at the same time you pay only one fee for the 1-751.

Hi all, I am not clear on how I file to remove conditions for my step-daughter who came with her mother at the same time. Do I merely list her on my wifes I-751 and include her processing fee and thats it? thanks for the help

Is there anyone one who has considered or has done this?

I have read several posts but have not found a clear answer. On my 2010 taxes I filed married filing separately-my foreign spouse and I were married in 2010. Her and her daughter immigrated last week to the US and yesterday they received their Social Security numbers. My question: Can I amend my 2010 taxes claiming married filing jointly? Also, can I add my step daughter as my dependent? If I am able to claim her by virtue of the fact that she is my spouses daughter and no else can claim her even though she did not live with me in 2010, I am not clear on what option to choose in the "Dependent Type" section of the tax form. Thank you!!

I wouldn't risk to have it one day before because even though they give you the results to you right away, what if God forbid something happens and they don't have them ready? You can have them whenever you want as long as they are still valid on the day of the interview. I had my medical examination about 5 weeks before the interview, I had plenty of time.
Also, tell your spouse to go request her police certificate as soon as she has a chance because they don't give it to you immediately. I've been told by people they had to wait 7 days, when I went for mine they gave it to me 3 days after so it seems to vary but it's better to be safe than sorry. I see the interview is on 5/26 so I would be moving with the medical and the police certificate.
Good luck!
good advice, thank you so much

Hi nicagirlover, you can review this information:
http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Nicaragua&cty=Managua
To answer your questions directly:
1. YES. Very important to have, the police certificate is valid for only 60 days that is why it is not required at the NVC stage, make sure to have a recent, valid one for the interview.
2. There are 3 doctors listed by the US Embassy, YOU choose which one do you want to go. I personally chose Dr. Rolando Esparza in Altamira, I paid $185.00. Once there they gave me the address of 2 places I had to go for the blood test and for the x-ray but you get the sealed envelop from Dr. Esparza. Good luck and congrats on the interview date.
Thank you Nica_In_Love. We are choosing to have any vaccinations that she lacks have done on that day too. How close to the interview date can we make the appointment? I prefer the day before as my time to be in Nicaragua is very limited
-
I am very excited that the finish line is near but I have a couple of questions especially with those familiar with Nica Immigration:
1) Does my spouse need to have a police certificate in hand? I read differing opinions on this.
2) How do we know which is the primary doctor we need to see who will be sending us around town and how is a reservation with that doctor made?
THANK YOU!!

A week ago I paid my application and AOS fees and they both indicate PAID but the funds have not been withdrawn from my checking account?? How long does it typically take? thanks
-
you could wait for instructions, but be prepared to wait 3 months.
USUALLY - if you have the PRINTED COVERSHEETS from the online payment portal, yer golden - is TIMETICK to 'send all in'.
If you need to review 'stuff' - please do so - see
DS-230 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html
I-864 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3730.html
General NVC stuff - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1335.html
and then strongly suggest you send all in to the address in the IV coversheet, with all in the same packet - will save about 3 weeks of time.
Are you saying send the AOS in the same envelope as the DS-230 and send to the address on the bar coded application coversheet?
-
Should it be submitted like I did for the I-130 with plastic sleeves, in a binder etc.? Does the NVC prefer a simpler package?
thanks
-
The instructions to the I-864 says :Line 23: Enter your current individual earned or retirement annual income that you are using to meet the requirements of this form and indicate the total on this line.
So, it depends on what type of income you have. If all you have is your W-2 income, than yes, it's your wages, tips, other compensation. It's not the adjusted gross income line from your tax return because that might be reduced by some deductions, like student loan interest, tuition, etc - so don't use that.
From how I read the instructions, they want different information on line 25 - there they specifically state they want adjusted gross income.(line 37 of the 1040). It's possible, that line 7, line 22 (total income) and line 37, are exactly the same number, it just depends on your tax situation. Good luck!
thank you, good answer!
-
Is current annual income (line 23) considered the same as my adjusted gross income (line 25) or is it my annual income (wages, tips, other comp.) as noted on my W-2?
-
I understand that I need to complete two I-864 forms, one for my wife and one for my step daughter. Since my step daughter is on a separate visa petition, would she be listed as the principal applicant in Part 2 of her application?
Thank you!

Hi all, I am unclear on whether I have the green light to submit AOS form and DS-230 application. I have paid the fees on-line and they have a status of "PAID". It instructs me to attach the bar coded coversheet to the application. Will I receive written mailed correspondence telling me to submit the application with instructions on what documents I am to include? Will I also receive similar correspondence advising me to submit AOS form?
thanks
