I just got my interview for my wife in April and we filed in November

FROM USCIS:

I-134:

You must sign Form I-134 in your full name. (Note: Signing Form I-135 is under penalty of perjury under U.S. law). For this reason, it is not necessary to sign Form I-134 before a notary, nor to have your signature notarize after you sign it.

Where you submit the form depends on whether the alien you are sponsoring is in or outside the United States and what type of application is being submitted. See the instructions provided with the corresponding application for detailed information on where to submit this affidavit of support.

I-864A( the one you should be filing for joint sponsorship):

Should be filed with Form I-864, Affidavit of Support Under Section 213A of the Act.

The signatures on the I-864A must be notarized by a notary public or signed before an immigration or consular office

The immigration offiicer might overlook the notary public stamp but it all depends on the officer as it is a requirement

Copies of 2007 should work fine as it did in my case 11 days ago.

Immigration Visas are printed in Islamabad and thus will be given to you either the same day or next day if everything else is OK

Hi!

Seems like a silly question, but I was wondering, if the USCIS would object to colour photocopies of documents that are to be attached to the AOS application. Since i am using a home laser printer, I wanted to confirm if they would object to it.

Anybody?

You can make B/W copies from you home color Printer, look in the application and you should be able to find an option.

If you can't find one then Scan the doc and print it in B/W, color might cause confusion between original and copy

So I got my I-130 NOA1, and the directions for the I-129 say that I need to send ANOTHER translation of our marriage certificate.

My questions to you are:

1) is this necessary?

2) does it have to be an original of the translation certificate or a copy from the one sent for the I-130?

The reason I ask is because according to my folks in Pakistan, it is difficult enough to get a the official marriage certificate translation once, let alone twice. And I believe them given how hard it is to get paperwork through the bureaucracy in Pakistan, because the one I got for the I-130 was absolutely festooned with stamps and signatures from a minimum of 5 different departments. If you guys sent multiple translations, how did you get these translations done in Pakistan?

Get a translation done from the Magistrates siting outside the city courts in Pakistan for 50 to 100 PKR and it will suffice.

Answers in red:

1) How and whom should be addressed while attaching a covering letter/statement to AOS application. Is there a proper format?

I addressed it to:

"United States Department of Homeland Security

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services"

2) My NOA1 for the I-130 was lost/never received. The USCIS told me to attach an online copy to the AOS application. Should I mention it in the covering letter, as the original NOA1 was never received and that might create a confusion, if they don't find a copy of the original NOA1.

NOA1 is never attached, only the NOA2 (letter of approval) is attached

3) If accepted, do they issue EAD and if so, how much time does it take?

EAD is farely quick and you could get the EAD card in 3 months approx.

90 Days. Sigh!

How soon do they ask for the biometrics? Would I be able to acquire a SSN and apply for a Drivers License on an EAD Document.

2 to 3 months for biometrics and yes you can apply for a license with EAD

Hi, every one by the grace of Allah my wife got the visa. I called DOS and they told me that embassy issue the visa on 3rd December, and mail it via Amex on 5th of December, finally with Allah hlps its over. My wife Security clearence done on earlier November, i try to ask the date but DOS is not telling me, any way her interview was on 20th of june all together 165 days after interview, oh i forget to mention about my daughter, she also got the visa.Allah mercy

hey everyone oki gorii sure i will keep everyone update . ok one more Q/ my wife sent her 2pics with packet 3.5 rite . and today when she got her packet 4. it has her both pics sent back to her is that normal . i mean i dont get it y do they ask for it on the 1st place . and the packet does not say y they were sent back or anyother information . anyway thanks to Allah that she is going to have her interview in june . and also thanks all u VJs for beeing so kind . anyway take care all talk to u soooooon

Packet 3.5, is delivered via TCS to beneficiary's home address ( at least in Lahore ) and then submit completed forms and other documents to American Express Travel Service office for delivery to ISB embassy.

Packet 4, beneficiary need to pick up at American Express Travel Service office ( on Mall Road in Lahore )

hmm, in Karachi American Express delivered it to my home but in anyway it answers Asmo's question that is delivered by private courier

It should be in her letter, but

she will need 100$USD....she can get it at any western union or money gram as well as certain banks....BEST OF LUCK!!!!

Judging by DOS Website it seems there are two fees they would have to pay but the letter of Interview should make it Clear:

hey khurumm bhai congurate took a while but it worked . my case is still at 3.5 packet the police certi taking soo long . how long its taking now for the interview after u send them packet 3.5 . and can u request them to have interview early . anyway i have one more thing to ask ./ my sister is also a us citizen rite she got married in pakistan . she filed the paper work here . she did k3 now she got both approvals at the same time i129/i130 now what happens next . and which one is faster . cuz its says on the i130 approval somting about i824. what is that ./ can somone thanks

When you get both approvals, USCIS will put the I-130 on hold and will start processing the K3 visa application (i-129f), You could send in the I-824 to take action on the I-130 but it will take a lot longer so i would suggest letting USCIS process the the I-129f and keep the copy of the I-130 approval for when her husband is here and she can apply for the adjustment of Status

Thanks Khurram. DOS tells me that although my case is still pending, they can see that Islamabad has asked me for resubmitting forms DS-230 (I have not received the letter yet). The lady I spoke with at the DOS said that I should send those forms asp and hope for the best.

Send those forms and I pray that they issue the visa after that
