  1. We got packet #3 today in the mail. Today, while I was in a work meeting, Isabel called and let me know that she received packet #3 from the U.S. Embassy in Lima, Peru. We have an interview dat of December 3rd., 2007. Soon we will be together and it will be a great Christmas here in Ohio. Keep the faith June filers, your dates are coming.

Brian - That's fantastic! Augusto has his interview on the same day.

  2. Great, just when we thought things were going to really get going after the NOA2. I guess we will plan on a January 08' interview date. We got our NOA2 on Sept. 24th

    I don't think so....

    Don't scare please.... :(

Good news. I just received the letter from NVC (dated Oct 12) that our package will be sent this week. So even though our NOA2 was approved Sept 4 but didn't reach NVC until Oct 9th...NVC has moved quickly.

  3. Whoooo, I just received a letter in the mail that NVC has our package dated October 11th. and will mail it on to the embassy in Peru within a week. Keep the faith everyone, especially the June filers, here we go!!!

I just received a letter from NVC dated October 12th with the same message. It took awhile to get from CSC (Sept 4) to NVC, but NVC has processed it quickly! Perhaps our fiances will have interviews the same week or even the same day.

  4. Just wondering if anyone else experienced a longer time between receiving a notice of approval on an I-129F from USCIS and NVC receiving the info from USCIS. I received USCIS approval on Sept 4, and an e-mail from them on Sept 5. I just called NVC yesterday (Oct 10) since I had heard nothing from them. The operator informed me that NVC just received the USCIS approval notice on Oct 9. When I asked her if it's still about a 2-4 week process from NVC receiving the USCIS approval to the NVC sending the application to the embassy, she replied with a reluctant "Typically." Do you think the influx of applications prior to July 31st has anything to do with the delay?

  5. Hello everyone!

I am getting married to a Peruvian national in November. As of right now we have all the neccessary documentation together and even all the documentation neccessary for the religious ceremony. Everything looks good. However, I am worried that once we are married that the process of getting her here with the K3 visa will be overwhelming. I think the only thing that will be a hang up in the process is the evidence of a bonafied marriage.

    My question is the following:

Since I do not live with her in Peru, and we have only seen each other 3 times in the past 2 years. How am I supposed to present evidence of a financial mingling. We cannot share a bank account because of national boundaries, although she is double checking on that now. We don't live together so we cannot present receipts for paying rent or a lease together. We do not co-own any property. Basically, the only thing we can think of is splitting the costs of the ceremonial and keeping the receipts as proof that we share financial responsibilities. I just don't understand how I am supposed to show evidence of something that is seemingly impossible. I would be petitioning the visa to that end, so that we will be able to mingle our financial resources in the years to come, but right now due to be in different countries, this is extremely difficult. Does anyone have any suggestions, or ideas on how to mingle our founds? I have thought about using paypal to show that we exchange funds, but her bank will not accept paypal use.

Also, in the case of not having any evidence to demonstrate a "bonafied" marriage, would it recommendable to just go through the K1 visa process? We really want to get married in both countries, so both families can participate.

    Thanks for the help!

My fiance and I have chosen the K-1 process instead of getting married in Peru first and then filing for K-3. It just seemed easier to do the K-1 route. Once the fiance visa is approved, then we will have our weddings.

  6. I guess its different for everyone, I agree with Roseariel, it is supoused to take only 2 weeks. In our case, we were approved in August 15, and didn't hear from the NVC until September 12, that was almost 1 month.

Our package arrived 1 or 2 weeks later at the Consulate (I still don't know the exact date when the NVC forwarded to the Consulate), I got in touch with the Consulate, last wednesday and found out, our interview was scheduled for November 19, almost 3 months after the approval.

After all, I'm not dissapointed for the processing times, by the time I have my interview it will be 7 months since we filed. Personally, I think that's a very 'acceptable' processing time. When we first filed we were expecting to wait from 6 to 9 months. So far, everything has being going as we thought it would be.

Congratulations on having an interview date. Hoping Augusto gets his soon.

I agree that the processing times are within a reasonable timeframe...it's just difficult waiting for the next step. Still hopeful that Augusto and I will be together before Christmas.

  7. I received a notice from CSC that our I-129F was approved on Sept 3, 2007. I still have not received any information from the National Visa Center. Does anyone know how long it is taking to receive notice from NVC, and then how long before the interview is setup at the embassy. My fiance lives in Peru, so his interview will be in Lima. Any insight or suggestions on if I should contact NVC would be greatly appreciated.

I think you should call NVC to find out whether they have received your petition. We were approved on Sept. 1st and have already received packet 3 from the embassy. Who knows, your petition may already be at the consulate in Peru.

The number for NVC is available in the K1 flowchat.

Thank you for recommending I call NVC. I will do so on Monday. Also, thank you for the K1 flowchart link...I hadn't found that yet.

My fiance has gone to a fiance visa interview in Lima. Just be sure to arrive early and get in the right line. He didn't have any problem with the interview. Even if your fiance could be in Lima, they won't allow him in the interview from what I've read.

    Hang in there!

  11. First I thought it was a big waste of money to hire a lawyer for our K1 visa process but since I read your post, I think I'm gonna start calling my lawyer on monday....I haven't called him in a month though, maybe he will get some good news for me.....

I don't think the lawyer will help much there, I think its a matter of they won't blow you off as it gets witnessed by someone who if they complain gets paid more attention to than just any old random person.

The real reason I hired a lawyer (outside of checking our paper work and being present at the POE to represent my angel in case something happens) is to have one more person to complain too that at least has to have the pretense of doing something.

They are not infallible though, just a second set of (hopefully better educated) eyes. After all the filings and papers we did, it was reading here on VJ that lead me to find out that we need a police clearance from japan (where she once worked) at the interview. My lawyer who is ranked very high in the state (and by far not the cheapest) didn't know this was a requirement, but once I read it here, they were able to do the research and confirm it.

You should consider them an extra resource, but they are no substitute for your own mind, nor your own research.

My $0.02 billed at $350 an hour ;)

If you've checked and double checked your paperwork and the requirements in the application, you shouldn't need an attorney. Just seems things have slowed down...maybe due to an increase in applications???? My fiance and I originally filed 2 years ago, and got thru to the NOA2 and visa interview rather quickly...4 months from submittal of petition...the problem he ran across was getting a medical appointment in Peru. Now we're back in the petition process. Filed late April; CSC received May 2;now we're anxiously awaiting the NOA2 with the petition approved.

  12. With an exception of those lucky enough to file at VSC, you are looking at at least 3 months before an approval from the CSC. I got my NOA1 on January 29 and my NOA2 on May 24 just to give you an idea. Use the time you are waiting to gather important documents you will need at the interview stage and relax! Against the advice of a friend I drove myself nuts on checking my USCIS case status online! lol Good luck to all of you on your journey!

This helps me out. The CSC received our petition May 2; NOA1 received May 10; and am anxiously awaiting the NOA2...it was disappointing to hear the CSC was having computer difficulties...still hoping for a visa prior to Christmas.

  13. I would like to find some friends who are in the same boat...I'm in a few boats. Here they are:

    Anybody who is

    1. dealing with the beloved, yet overworked, CSC...

    2. Anyone with a Peruvian love who wants you to speed up time...

    3. Are there any Latter-day Saints (Mormons) on here? Would like to talk Temple policy (if you are LDS you know what the whole temple thing is about) And

    4. People who have filed in Feb...it would be nice to keep in touch to watch the progress.

Reply to #2: I met my Peruvian fiance three years ago on a vacation to Peru. Our I-129F was approved within 8 weeks of filing, and an interview with the embassy was set 4 months after I filed the I-129F. The interview went well. The difficulty we've run into is getting an appointment for a medical exam. So we're having to refile the I-129F and will have to be very persistent on securing a medical appointment.

Looks like you've received the response letter indicating your I-129F application was received. Hope you hear of the approval soon. Be sure your fiance calls for the medical appointment as soon as you receive the interview appointment date. Please let me know if you find out any of the ins and outs of securing a medical appointment in Lima.

I spoke with my fiancee. She has a friend from Lima who went through the process. She said she went to a female doctor in San Isidro in a clinic. She said it was easy to get in. A week or so.

Thank you. That's good to know. We just resubmitted the I-129F, so hopefully we are on our way...

  14. Hi, I have been pricing plane tickets for my fiance from Peru to the U.S., and I have found that they are really expensive (like 1500 or more for a one-way ticket) and also really long. But the only website I know to search planes that leave from Peru is this one:

    http://www.lan.com/index.html

Does anyone know any other sites where I can get cheaper tickets that leave from Peru?

    Thanks,

    Sara

Prices do vary by time of year. American Airlines also flies to Peru. I take it from Miami. One way tickets are more expensive than 2-way, so try checking on the cheapest 2-way ticket.

  15. K1 - Peru -- please help!!

    Situation:

My fiance has not received Packets 3 & 4 yet, but we called the US Embassy in Lima last week and they confirmed that he is in their system and the interview date is set for August 3 -- just 5 weeks away, not much time to get all the documents ready!!

    Question:

Without waiting for the Packets to arrive, he is going to Lima next week to get the 3 police reports. We want to know if the Medical Exam has to be done in Lima only, or can be done in his own city (Cusco?) -- does anyone have the list of the Doctors/Hospitals from their recent Packets handy, can you please check for me and tell me:

    - if Lima-only for the Med. Exam,

    - and what are the names of Doctors given for Cusco, if that is listed.

    Thank you very much!!!

Did your fiance have any difficulty getting a medical appointment in Lima? This has been a stumbling block for my fiance.

  17. I didn't have any problems with receiving approval for the petition for fiance visa. Also the interview at the embassy was scheduled rather quickly. The problem my fiance has encountered is getting a medical appointment in Lima. He lives in northern Peru and when he calls the doctor offices they tell him the doctors are very busy he will need to come to Lima. Then when he goes to Lima they will not give him a day and time to come for the medical exam. They just tell him to keep coming back. Help. Is there a trick to getting a medical exam appointment in Lima????
