I had my medical today and like eveyone else, about 6 years ago, I suffered depression and made two suicide attempts. Since then, I've been fine, not seen a psychiatrist for 6 years and am not on medication. I looked at the posts on VJ and got a letter from my GP confirming all this and saying there had been no problems since.
Now, they want another letter, stating the possibility of causing harm to myself, others or of needing psychiatric help in the future. Sorry, but I don't have a crystal ball and neither does my GP, who's refused to amend the letter in case he gets sued in the future! Luckily, I can obtain a report through my occupational health department as I work in the NHS - but anyone not lucky enough for this may struggle - unless you get a report from a clairvoyant!

Hi all - one question
underneath question 5 on the DS-156K, it states that all birth certificates must be attached - does this include the birth certificates of my children, even though they're remaining in the UK??
Help!!
Thanks

how should i answer question 11 on the I-134 Affidavit of Support?
11. That I [] intend or [] do not intend to make specific contributions to the support of the person(s) named in item 3.
(If you check "intend," indicate the exact nature and duration of the contributions. For example, if you intend to furnishroom and board, state for how long and, if money, state the amount in U.S. dollars and state whether it is to be given in a lumpsum, weekly or monthly, or for how long.
of course i will support him with everything he needs until he gets comfortable here and a work permit. should i just stay that?
thanks!

We found this thread, which helped Julie fill out the I134 question you mention - hope this helps!
Oops, answered the wrong question! sorry - Andy

Before I thought I should put down that I will be sure to give my fiancee at least X dollars a month, and whatever else she needs beyond that for as long as she wants or needs anything from me (or something from that nature). It just sounds weird though. I really don't understand what they're asking for in question 11. I mean, we're getting married, we're not setting up payment plans. We both promise to take care of each other however we can.
Also, my parents are co-sponsors since I'm a student. Should they put something down for question 11? They don't plan to make a specific contribution, but they will offer room and board if needed (for that matter, I'm ALSO offering room and board, so its double covered).
What is this question really asking? Have other people in a similar situation filled this out with anything useful? It seems like a really strange question. Thanks!!!!

HI,
i,m a nurse and hopefully when i get to new york i will be taking the nursing exams. MY QUESTION IS THIS... Is there any of you females on this site ..oh and perhaps some guys too
have jobs as a nurse and can you give me some information on the nursing exams.
I have registered with a couple of agencies here who organise things for you, but i am looking into just doing by myself can anyone help??/ plz
thank you agnes x
Where in New York will you be living? I'm not a nurse, but I notice your local office is listed as Buffalo, which is where I live and I have a few cousins that are nurses and could ask on your behalf for more info.
Hi
I've been trying to explore nursing in Tennessee and organising things myself, as most of the agencies don't have any options for there. Also, being mental health trained (and a guy) with 25 yrs experience doesn't help much. You need to have a generalised education, including adult, Paeds, Mental Health and Community/public health. I've been going round and round in circles trying to organise things by email and telephone, having made some contacts on my last visit there.
I've gone as far as having my transcripts sent over by the NMC to the university so that I can get some idea of what additional training I would need to do, but get sent back to the Tennessee board of nursing at every point - who just reiterate that I need a generalised education etc.
so, my advice would be, if you can use an agency to help with the NCLEX etc, go with that option - its seems to smooth things along somewhat. The international department at the NMC and RCN can be a good source of advice too.
Good luck with the process
Cheers

So Chas and I just mailed back packet 3 on Monday (4/16). Today, we got packet 4 in the mail with an interview date of June 8th at 9 am!!!!!!!!!!
The letter was dated on Thursday. I cannot believe the fast turnaround on this - have no idea why or how we got that so quickly. But I'm not complaining!!!
AND today is Chas' birthday.
Finally we can start making more firm plans instead of talking about everything in more general terms.
WHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Tracey - fantastic news on Packet 4. Glad you had a great trip to Blighty and here's hoping a speedy month to June 8th!
-
Fantastic news - congratulations!!
-
Hey - thanks Tracey and all who replied - I'll pop into see the local police and get a form.
Tracey - have a great holiday.

Yeah - I can only imagine how they'd take to an answer like 'what are you smokin?'
Hey Chas and Tracey - no answers - but YEEEEAAAAAA on the packet three. Have fun on your vacation.

They will tell you what to bring (via packet 3). Obviously you'll need the originals of the documents in your petition, and your (physical) NOA2 as well.
http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...&cty=London
That link has some more info as well. Isn't VJ informative?
Thanks for that Tracey - yep, VJ is soooo informative - wish we'd found it in January!
By the way, I have a current enhanced police check through my employer - do you know if that is acceptable in place of a police certificate?
-
Could anyone advise me what documents I will need to take to the interview in London? We've not yet received an NOA2 but I want to prepare as much as possible in advance so some guidance would be appreciated.

We just booked our flight from Nashville, TN to London Gatwick. ( not a direct flight, stopover in Detroit ) We used Northwest (www.nwa.com) The cost was $642.00 per ticket. It was actually the cheapest we found and searched several different sites.
Wow - thanks for that - I usually travel to Nashville from Gatwick via Charlotte in North Carolina - last time was $680 with US Airways. Julie has flown via Chicago with American Airways to Heathrow.
Where in the UK are you or your SO from?
