  1. Really, insufficient data, computer does not compute, marriage for four years is short of five year, but how long as a LPR? Has to be an LPR for five years to use the conventional non-marriage application. OP should specify whether applying for the three year marriage privilege or the standard five year in regards to what evidence is required.

married for seven years and LPR for four years, will be five in september 2010.

  3. Hello Koo,

First of all, I wish you a successful interview in your upcoming interview at Atlanta. Hope your journey will finally come to an end on a happy and cheerful note. Mine would be there proabably, but don't know when. Will it be possible ( only if it is possible ) for you to ask your IO for oath dates in December 2009 or January 2010. Just wanted to prepare myself and plan my trip ahead of time, as my date of interview will fall in those months (hopefully). I would really appreciate your help.

    Thanks

    Well Wisher

    Hi TLABL,

I will try and get you the info. I am just hoping for a good interview.

  4. Hi,

Today My interview was at 10.05am in Atlanta. I arrived at 9:30am and gave my letter at check-in counter. I waited for 45 minutes for my name to be called. The interview as such was quick. The lady asked me to do oath and went through quickly all the Yes/No questions and asked me if I owe any taxes which did not. She asked me about my recent travel. I told her I travelled once after application was filed. I offered her amended travel sheet,

which she didn't take instead modified the original sheet with additional travel.

Then She showed me the sheet with question, who elects the congress and she asked me write down the answer People elects the Congress.

    She asked me

what are the major political parties now in US,

Which party current president belongs to,

Who is commander-in chief of military

    Author of declaration of Independence

3 of the original 13 colonies

Then she asked me If I am willing to attend the oth cermony today , I gave her emphatic YES answer.

Finally she told me she is recommending me for Citizenship, however before I do oath, her supervisor will do one final review which made me little nervous.

I waited for another 1 hour before I received the Oath letter at arround 12:15pm

My oath cermony was completed at 2:30pm and I became US Citizen.

  5. Hi everyone,

Some weeks ago I posted on this forum about an email I like many other people received and continue to receive.

I decided that until I get a paper letter from USCIS I was going to wait.

Well, last week, I received the yellow sheet.

Just yesterday, I received an invitation to appear for my N400 interview, at Atlanta District office on the 12th of Nov.

So for your information, those RFEs are for the Biometrics and nothing else.

your case status will pop up.

  9. Hi Everyone,

My biometrics appointment is on August 19. My husband and I would like to do it on Saturday August 15 (walk-in) coz he can't get off work on the 19. I'm wondering if there's anybody that go to Lubbock, Texas for their biometrics. We tried to call the UCSIS 1-800 number but no luck to get the local office number.

Do we need to call the Application Support Center if they allow walk-in?

Thank y'all for your help. We really appreciate it!

    Princess

my biometrics appointment is on 18th. August. but Iwalked in today  saturday 15th August in Atlanta and had it done  . It was empty. I was the only person in there apart from the five staff members and two security guards. it took me only six minutes.

Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, call 1-800-375-5283 to update your address.

i wonder if anybody here got experience leave in gov. housing and what kind u show up to uscis for the evidence if ever they needed that in case.

any help i will appreciated thank you,

It seem we are running the same timeline. I sent my application on July 28 2009, check was cashed july 31, received NOA on the 3rd august, Bio letter on 10th August with appt scheduled for 18th August. Since I have other important things to do on that 18th, I walked in today Saturday 15th August and had my fingerprint and BIO done.

I checked the on-line case status for the fun of it and found a request for further evidence. One just like yours. I have not received any letter in the mail, even though they claim to have mailed something on the 4th of August. If they had, I would have got it by now. I think it is standard. I am not going to do anything till I get the said letter.

Like someone said, it may be for the fingerprinting.

I am just waiting to see what happens.

  11. I got my NOA yesterday and it has an NBC-number (I assume it's National Benefits Center). My understanding was that NBC doesnt do N-400s and those are all done in local offices. Is that true or I got something wrong? Anyone else had their application go to NBC?

Yes, Mine also went to NBC. We have the same timeline. I sent mine on 28th july 2009, check cashed 30th July and received NOA1 on 1st. August 2009.

I hope you hear from them soon.

  12. Hi everyone,

I know I came here too late with a question, should have looked here before sending the package, but I hope you can still advise something. I already submitted N400 based on marriage and just learned that I should have put marriage certificate, my husband's US passport and other proof. :o Silly me for not reading the guide till the end, but only the instructions to the form.

I only submitted the form, pictures, copy of the g card and the fee that's it.

What should I expect to happen? Will they return the package or send me an RFE? Did anyone have similar experience? I could not find any similar topic here, I might be the only one to not have followed the instructions properly :crying:

Please advise, what I should expect and what can possibly happen now.

    Thank you.

    Hi once again.

infact i sent mine the same way 27th july, and they received it the next day 28th july. I just realized that they cashed my check on 30th july. I bet they need the cash more than anything. I hope they use the same speed in processing my stuff.

  14. Hi Everyone,

I have a quik but very important question. I know this is not the right link but I chose it because the citizenship link is not vibrant. This where the action is . in case anyone has seen something, experience or any useful info I will be glad to get that. :help:

I am preparing to file for my US citizenship by middle of next year. Recently, my USC wife filed for an immigrant visa petition for my daughter( her stepdaughter) to join us.Everything went on fine and

our daughter is now with us here in the US.

During the IV interview, the CO asked me to submit proof that my wife and I are still married and living together. The CO's reason was that when they pulled our background information, it showed that we were living at different addresses. Our explanation was that she (my wife) has two teen-age children who opted to live with their grandmother. Because of that we have been renting apartments (in my wife's name) for the grandmother and the 2 kids since my wife's mother was depending on her before we got married.

My name has been on the lease at the apartment where we live, but have both our names on some utility bills, bank statement, life insurance.

My question is will this be enough proof to submit that we have been in legal marriage relations for the whole 3 years ?

If it may not be enough, what are suggestions ?

I need to get things ready before it comes up again at my citizenship interview.

What other documents do we need to get ready as I prepare for it. ?

Sorry guys I know this is a distraction. Just that I trust YOU ALL.

  16. hello everyone!

i am writing with good news! as of 30 minutes ago, Nana and I have been APPROVED! i am sooooooooo happy and excited and i feel wonderful.

YAYE YOU!!!!!!! I am sitting here in Ghana now reading this with my SO. It brought tears to my eyes... I am so excited for you both! It's about time! Make sure that you keep in touch and don't get lost once he gets to the states... lol! I am so very happy for you all! God bless you!

Congrats. that's goooooooood neeeewwwssss.:dance:

this kind of news we all want to hear.

  17. Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your input. I left for Ghana for my daughter's interview. I arrived the night before the interview in Accra.

The next morning, we went to the embassy around 7:15am. We were allowed into the embassy compound at 7:30 am.

An embassy staff started calling out names and going through each person's documents and collected the relevant

documents and asked us to sit down and wait till we are called to any of the booths. We sat there for almost three hours

before it got to our turn.

The officer went through our documents and the first thing she said was that my daughter's birth certficate does not have

Akosua on it even though its in her passport and the NVC forms I filed. She therefore asked me to have Akosua added or have a new one issued before they can continue with the process. She again asked me if I had any evidence of my relationship with my wife(whether we were still married, because their background check on her indicated she lived in a different address. and not at my address. I told her that since they never asked for evidence in the interview letter they sent us, I did not bring any proof, however I had a copy of our bank statement which bore both our names( joint account). I gave her that

and let her know that I had to call US to have some proofs forwarded to me by fax or email, because of that I cannot

bring original copies of what she wanted. She agreed to take copies.

I had some documents sent to me the next day, (she asked me to bring the evidence on any

monday, tuesday or thursday at 1pm.

I was able to get new birth certificate issued by friday 24th Aug. which cost me 15GH cedis( $ 15 ) with Akosua inserted.

and with copies of our car title, life insurance, some utility bills, a copy my wife's driver's licence, we went back to the embassy on Tuesday 28th. We had to wait for another 4 hours before we were called. I handed the documents to the

Officer. She went them and then asked for my daughter's passport. She then asked my daugther " are you happy to go and live with daddy?'' she smiled and said yes. The officer then handed me a blue slip(visa collection ticket) and asked

me to come for the passport the following friday  ( in 4 days for the visa) .

There were no questions, NO DNA tests (even though some people I met at the embassy were asked to go get it). It was all so simple.

We (my daughter and I) arrived back in ATL on thursday( 6th Sept) afternoon.

So guys, thanks for your wonderful encouragement and advice. In case anyone has any questions, I am ready to share.

My advice is get all your names on documents to match every document you are submitting.

  18. Hi All,

Gota questions, Who Make interview NVC or Embassy. I read couple of threads some of VJ's members got interview through NVC.

    is that true?

    Hi Asif,

I received a letter from NVC that my case has been forwarded to the embassy and that same letter said that

an interview has been scheduled for us at the embassy so I guess they are now doing the scheduling. What

is confusing is whether or not we still need packets 3 & 4, because it looks like all those documents for the packets

    were sent to the NVC.

  19. Guys.. :help: Is there anyone pursuing a IR1/CR1 and the NVC has scheduled your interview in the last couple of weeks; :help: can you please tell me how long it took from when the case was completed at the NVC before you got your interview date. Did you have to wait to get the letter before you knew the date? Was the automatic voice system ever updated with this status?

Monday will be exactly two weeks since the NVC completed my case and I have not heard anything :crying: :crying

    Jenice

    Hi Janice,

My daughter's case was completed on 20th Dec. 2006 and NVC forwarded it to the embassy in Ghana on 5th July, 2007

with an interview date of 28th August 2007.

  20. Hi everyone.

My 8 year old daughter is migrating to the US from Ghana. NVC completed processing on 20th Dec 2006, and held on

to the documents till July 12th when I received a letter from NVC that the documents have been forwarded to Accra the

week before. The NVC letter also stated that an interview had been scheduled with the Embassy for August 20th 2007.

The letter from NVC also listed that we need to bring to the interview, completed proof of vacinations and medical report in an envelope sealed by the medical office.

it stated that since she is a minor, she only needs physical exams. two passport pictures, and proof of sponsorship.

The I-230 (1 and 2) had already been completed and signed.( as part of what we sent to the NVC).

The notice also listed the following and its status.

    OF-169 - document complete/reviewed

    OF-230-I document complete/reviewed

    OF-230-II document complete/reviewed

    Passport document complete/reviewed

    birth Certificate original document received

    Police report exempted/document not needed

    Financial evidence - document complete/reviewed

    My questions are

    1. Are we supposed to pick up any packets (either 3 or 4) from the embassy? or once we have the interview date, we are fine.

    2. Is the embassy going to write to us or we just have to go for the interview on the date with just the items listed by NVC?

    3. we have not been asked for any DNA testing, but can we go ahead and have it done at one of their accredited doctors

or its not necessary? ( my problem is that I have only 7 days permission from my job to travel for her interview, get the visa and travel to the US with her.) So I am trying to get everything done before I leave the US.

    4. How long does it take the embassy to issue the visa if every condition is satisfied at the interview?
