  1. Hi Guys,

I know the question of "how long does it take for approval on AOS application?" has been visited times and times again on this site. Lately I heard a few horror stories about how the USCIS lost the applications, not once but twice or thrice. Talking about bad luck. This makes me jittery. I sent in my AOS application in August 2007, got my Biometrics in Oct, and received a notice stating that my case has been transferred from Chicago to California in Nov. Since then my online status has not changed. It remains as:

Current Status: This case is now pending at the office to which it was transferred.

It is coming 6 months since I filed AOS. I started to let the horror stories get to me. What if they loose my papers or something bad had happened.

I just need to air this off my chest to anyone who understands what i am going through now and has some thoughts on the above.

    Thanks for reading this.

    Going crazy.

  2. Hi all,

The last I heard from USCIS was on Nov 7 when they sent out a NOA informing me that my case has been transfered to California service center in order to speed up the processing.

Nothing since. I am wondering when will I get my green card and what are the following steps required from me. Can anyone give me a clue please?

Ps- I have sent in my AOS and done my biometrics.

    THANKS! :help:

  3. Hey guys, wondering if there will be problem if I travel within US a bit before I got my Green card. I going in for my biometrics next week, and I assume I wont get the greencard for a few good mths. However my husband and I have plans to go travelling to diffferent states for thanksgiving, xmas, new year etc. Do you forsee any trouble? The last trip we took they didnt require me to show them a passport only some form of ID. However I wasnt worried then cos my K1 visa I entered into US with was still valid. It ended end of Sept.

  4. I see that you have no replies yet. I just got my bio appt letter too, and just my two cents worth, i think the marriage cert is "THE" document you will need to prove you have taken on yr husband's surname. I changed my name at the banks etc. with the marriage cert. It was the only doc they ever needed. Well, see what other's in VJ say too. :)

  5. Hi guys, I sent in my AOS on 13 Aug and just received my NOA. It states I need to wait for my appt letter (biometrics) ... I am just wondering how long usually does it take for the appt letter to arrive in my mailbox and after that how long do I need to wait for the interview notice/appt letter. And after the interview I am not required to do anything but just wait again for my green card? I just needed to know the timeline .... alittle more to keep me sane.

    Thanks,

    cheryl

  6. I sent my I - 485 in on 10th Aug, from the delivery information on US postal service tracking system online, I understand that the package has reached USCIS on 13th Aug.

It has been 15 days but I have not heard anything from them yet, no NOA, nothing. They have not cash my check either. I am getting very worried especially when i realised most of the people here received their NOAs in a week or so.

Should I be overly - worried? I understand that you can only call them if you didn't hear anything in 30 days.

Sighhhh...any advice would do me good here. Thanks.

  7. Hi anyone,

Before I make an appointment for an interview I need to fulfil a checklist the consular sent, among the list is marriage certs. It states to bring with me my marriage cert and divorce decree if I had been married previously.

The problem is 1) My marriage cert has been taken back by the courts when my divorce was finalised. 2) I find it illogical for the need to present my marriage cert when the marriage has been dissolved more than a yr ago.

so i called the consular and ask if i need to seach for the marriage cert from authorities or will a certified divorce decree be sufficient. I was told that I absolutely need the divorce decree and the marriage cert if available.

I have been thinking and am not too sure if that means i can just rely on the divorce and bring a photocopied marriage cert (that's all I am left with after the divorce) or I am better off to go hunt for a certified true copy of my marriage cert.

anyone in the same shoes as me before? appreciate if you can advise me. many thanks!
