  1. Hello,

I am a US citizen and my spouse is a green card holder through our marriage.   We used to live abroad,  were married in a foreign country and moved to the US about 4 years ago at which time she got a green card.

It occured to me, that at no point did we ever take our foreign marriage license and go to a US city hall/town hall where we lived and get a US based one.   My question is, does this matter?  It was never required as part of the immigration process,  and is there any legal transactions or point where it could be requested in the future?  Looking back on it I thought this was odd that the US government doesn't require you to do this,  but I was wondering what other people's experiences are and legally what should be the best course of action.

    thank you,
    Matthew
