It should be her current address in Canada.
Hi there everyone,
My wife (USC) will soon be filling-out the I-130 and I was wondering if she should be putting her Canadian address (where we are now), or a US address in the B.2 area (information about you)?
Thanks

Last time Montreal had no interviews it was for about 3 weeks and when I called them they said everything had been booked until the end of September and they weren't sure when the next 3 month block would be open. I know when they did open it up, the dates went really quickly and went from October to the end of November. They are usually about 3 months out when you are finally able to schedule and only if you are really lucky will chance upon a much earlier date. I think it was around the 5th when they opened them up, but they are also known to open additional appointments around the middle of the month. My husband left to do the same at the beginning of July and we have a 4 yr old, so I know how hard it is. Although we spent August down there with him and he's coming up this weekend to become a Canadian Citizen!
I hope you get something soon.
I have been checking since the end of July and I still have yet to see an appointment come up My husband has been back in CO since May to reestablish domicile, we have a 2 year old daughter and I am a about to lose my mind with that stupid website!!!! We both miss him so bad, hoping an interview comes up soon, but seeing yours were in October I am skeptical it will be before Christmas When did you get your appointment (as in on a Monday morning?? 15th of the month, etc??)

So my husband left for the US at the beginning of July to re-establish domicile but he has yet to find a job. He has to be my primary sponsor and although we were really hoping he would be able to find something quickly (i know, why him and not the 11 million other unemployed us citizens) he hasn't. His parents have agreed to be co-sponsors but they have both recently retired and are living on social security (as well as investment income i'm sure, although they haven't mentioned it). They used to have a combined income of over $200k. If there combined social security is enough for their household (the two of them and one dependent child) and me and my child will that be ok? My interview is in a couple of weeks and unless some miracle happens and my husband gets a job offer in the next couple of weeks, this is all I've got.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Oh, we also have about $25000 in our bank accounts.

Mine is September 29th!

Uh ya, if you think that you can get the packet 3 and packet 4 and an appointment that quickly, you are frakked, sorry. All appointments are booked until the end of November and there haven't been ANY available appointments for about 2 weeks. She will absolutely not be going with you, sorry to be so bold, but there's no possible way. I would make alternate plans now for that move.
But definitely start getting all the Packet 3 requirements in order so that you are ready to shoot the checklist back the day after you receive it.
My fiance got a letter from the NVC saying her application was forwarded to Montreal on the 12th of July. We still haven't received packet 3! I need to leave the country to go back to the states next month and I am worried she won't be able to come with me. We only have enough money to move once and my stuff is in limbo.
Are we frakked?

Sorry to tell you but no, a co-sponser does not offset the need to prove domicile. Search visajourney for "establishing domicile" and do lots of reading, it's a sticky situation. My husband left for the US at the beginning of July, we have two kids and it's been really tough being apart. Although we've been here with him for the last two weeks and will spend the next two weeks here as well. Our interview is at the end of September.
so if you have a co-sponsor do you need to prove domicile still? or does the co-sponsor off set the fact that the USC is in canada and intends to return with the IR1 beneficiary once the visa is issued by obtaining a job and moving back. (but no job lined up before then.)
also, would a co-sponsor need to fill out a i864 for each beneficiary... i.e. spouse, and "x" children if applicable? or just 1 period regardless of how many applicants?
-
Wrong, sorry, she will schedule her own. I too applied for IR1/CR1 DCF.
Unfortunately, all appointments until the end of November are booked, so it' a waiting game until they open the next block. However, always check the site because there are often cancellations. Congratulations and good luck!
If you filed a I-130, then you filed for a spousal visa and you will be assigned an interview, date and time. I found out the end of June that my interview was for mid August.

What interview package? Are you referring to Packet 4? You can find the details of packet 4 on the montreal consulate's website. I don't think they send you an interview package.
Thank you!
Hi - I have my medical scheduled for July 25th and my interview in Montreal is scheduled for August 2nd but we haven't received the interview package yet.
Has anyone else had any luck so far?
-
Congrats! So happy for you.
After all that...I just got my DHL email to say that my passport is on it's way!!! Woohoo! Thanks to all of you that eased my mind, hearing those dreaded words really worried me.
-
It depends but around 5-10 days. Another VJer had her interview on the 12th and she was notified yesterday that her passport was on the way.
-
I don't recall having to show anything like that at all. We showed mortgage statements, utility bills and our marriage certificate. We also have a daughter so a copy of her birth certificate. But we didn't provide any photos or emails. You are married correct?
-
you could also try posting your question in the Australia Regional Forum, they would probably have more info over there.

I am not sure how quick the consulate their is at processing but I know that once the visa is issued you have 6 months to actually use it. So if it takes 6 months to process then you would be good!
Thanks for your reply, however it does not answer my question.
We have made up our minds, but for many reasons cannot make the move until July/Aug when his semester would start. Sydney is not accepting I-130's after Aug 14. Therefore, we need to either try and file through the Consulate now and slow down the process or after the 15th of August file through Chicago and HOPE it gets approved before Aug 2012.
Can anyone provide any advice?

I think I've heard some good news. I called DoS again this morning (thanks to you guys and what you think may have happened! ) and the gentlemen I spoke to this morning did NOT mention the words Administrative Processing...he didn't really say what it was really. He said, "when did you last call?" I explained I called on Friday that I had called and was told I was in Administrative Processing and that I wanted to get a head start on any issues now if that was the case. He then said, "well, there really aren't any issues, Montreal just has a lot of cases at the momemnt so they haven't gotten around to printing it out yet, so just wait to hear from them".
I really hope all of you were right on this one! That would be awesome. I'll still worry until I hear more (as it's my nature, LOL) but at least it's promising.

I've got my fingers crossed for you. I'm sure it's just a misunderstanding on DOS's part and that's not the case.
Yes to both. His income is above the poverty limit ($30+) and we had a signed and dated letter from both his Mom & Dad stating we were welcome to stay as long as we like.

I just wanted to say hi really. You mentioned your car was registered in Tennessee and that's where my hubby and I are going to be moving. Well he's already there, he left last week to "reestablish domicile". We are going to be in the Memphis area.
-
Congrats! That makes me really nervous now. We did DCF also, however my hubby left last week to try and "re-establish" domicile in the us. He is going to get a DL, voter's registration card, lease agreement with his folks, we have the uhaul bill and storage bill (he already took all of our stuff). The kids and I are going to go and see him for 3 weeks in August so i'm going to try and get details from the schools for them. Oh ya, he opened a bank account....what else? He doesn't have a job yet but he's spending 9 hours a day looking. I'm so ANXIOUS!
Thank you. My husband made a similar comment (since we live near the border and cross often), that they tend to do that at the border too sometimes, just to see if you mess up. I knew from reading here that Montreal was pretty hard on domicile, so I'm glad I read up and brought sufficient evidence.
I'll just keep logging in to the CSC website and wait for a Waybill number

I personally emailed them after not hearing anything about receiving a packet 3 and asked if they had received my papers and a few days later they emailed me my packet 3. It wouldn't hurt to email them or like someone else said, all the information on what packet 3 contains is right on the Montreal consulate website and you can just follow the instructions. You don't have to physically receive it to send in the documents. [

Hi Everyone,
Our package 3 was sent out on June 23rd. And, I still haven't received it in mail. It's been over 2 weeks. I called DOS they said call the Montreal consulate. But, Montreal consulate doesn't take any live calls. How can I get them to resend the package. I am so lost.
Please help!!!
Thanks!!

You definitely have not been chosen to do Direct Consular Filing, you aren't "chosen". If you filed directly through your local US consulate where you lived in Canada then your file would never go to the NVC. [

Hello:
I want to know why we were chosen to do DCF. The mail is so much easier. My husband is in Missouri ,and, I of course in Canada..............waiting. We are at the AOS, paid and fill out. I also did the DS-260, complete, it says. Haven't heard anything for 10 days now. My interview will be in Montreal. Which will cost at least $1000 for Hotel. Panel physician, I have all the vaccinations and tither test. I still don't know how to send files a la PDF. It is complicated, I would rather just do snail mail, but NVC, says we cannot, we were chosen to do DCF. There is a rumor going round that DCF is stopping, in August? Wait and wait, it is driving me crazy.

Well that's nice, i'm sure you'll want the moral support.
He wants to be there, I told him that he doesnt have to go. We already talked about going without him.
-
You know that he doesn't have to go to the interview right? Because if he does come you are still going to have to wait up to 10 days to get your visa and passport back, just saying.
My Fiance is at work, sometimes checks his cell phone. I told him the date asking what does he think cause the 29th is on his work week. He works one week on and one week off so he would have to take a whole week off. Hes in ND drilling oil and he drives to where we are in Southern Ontario...lol. But he may say yeh take it. The date is still there too teasing me, wishing it was on a date i have written down! Ill keep looking. October 5th is far away but maybe another one for September will open up.
-
LOL. Did you get a date?
lol i came here to post that sept 29 is up, unfortunally its not a date on my list. If it was the 22/23 i would be so there.
-
September 29th is available right now! I just snagged it, but it's still available.
-
No, if you register their birth abroad you won't have to file for them.
Thanks for the info! Would I still need to fill out I-130's for my kids if I just register their birth abroad?
Thanks!

just wanted to add my two cents. I had my interview on Thursday the 29th and I just got the email that my passport was picked up from the consulate! So excited! When I receive it in my hands I will be sure to add to the poll.
