I attended my oath ceremony at the Seattle District Office this afternoon. Very glad to say that I'm now a US citizen, wrote a more detailed report here:

It was painless, pleasant and an altogether enjoyable experience!

Congrats! I attended mine yesterday. It was very pleasant indeed. It makes you reflect on the journey to get to this point, and the immigration officers running it do acknowledge that. The moment when you make the oath and they pronounce you a Citizen just feels absolutely great.

It was 33 people from 21 different countries getting naturalized. I would have thought there would be more people

I would take them and mention that you have them -- for reference, I had them with me, didn't upload them with the application and they did not ask for them.

    Thanks for the tip.

I took them with me and mentioned that I had them when the officer asked the question on the application about owing any taxes to the IRS. Similar to you, he didn’t really care for them.

I passed the interview and I’m now waiting for the ceremony date and time. If anyone is wondering, the folks that were getting interviewed yesterday that I talked to were a mix of April and May 2018 filers.

I received the RFE today. I had to wait 71 days for it to arrive but it is finally here.

They requested tax returns and proof of payment for the year 2018, However I sent them both 2017 and 2018 tax returns and transcripts just in case because I didn't have them with me at the time of the interview. Hopefully that is sufficient and they finally approve my application.

The funny thing is they take their time to process the applications but only give you 30 days to reply to the RFE :P

BTW, Does anybody know if responding to the RFE and uploading the files online enough or do I have to mail them too?

    @AHG

Seeing how many people have mentioned tax returns, I’m taking returns for 2018, 2017, and 2016 with me to my interview tomorrow, even though I didn’t upload them when I submitted my application.

I would much rather they ask for them, and I hand them to the officer on the spot rather than have them send me an RFE 70 days later.

Do you you think I should initiate and mention that I brought my tax returns with me, or wait for them to ask. My concern is that they don’t ask for them and decide later that they want them.

I am trying to figure out how long it's taking for people who got "Decision Cannot be Made" to get the decision after the interview.

I know @El79 anyone else who got a Decision Cannot be made and still waiting or got a decision? Let me know your timeline please.

I am still waiting, already 70 days and counting.

Why in hell would they take this long? Did they give a reason at the interview? Is there any special circumstance or special answer on your application that warrants this long of a decision making process?

    This is torturous.

  5. To add to the raft of April 2018 filers, I filed on April 24, 2018 and this week I was notified that my interview is on July 22, 2019 at 12:45.

I guess based on reading this forum, if things go well, I would expect to have to expect to come back another day for the ceremony because it would be too late in the day to do it in the same day. No complaints, at least I’m relieved that it’s been scheduled.
