  1. I guess that is normal... They always take at least 2 weeks after the Biometrics Appointment to update the cases into the system, in the mean time if you try to check it, It will always appear as not founded, I have seen cases that take more than 2 weeks after Biometrics and still they aren't in the system.

Don't Panic... Everything is  .....I understand you... I felt the same when I did not find my case.

    God Bless you.

  2. Hello Guys... Today we went to the Social Security Office to get my SSN, we wait on line for almost 3 hours to get attended.. Finally we got at the windows, I thought that I was going to get my SSN immediately, but oh surprise  They told me I should wait 3 months to get it, because They must verify the information I gave them... Anyone that already pass from this experience and would like to share with me How long they wait for it????

    Thanks in advance.

    Blessings to all!!!...

Hi. Well I had a K-1 and K-2 visa, so I dont know if it is different from your situation. But I'm still trying to get my SSN. I had went to the SSA office 6 times and it hasn't gotten easier. I have my EAD and have had it for over a month now. I got my application in for a SS card, but they need to verify with Immigration that my EAD is "valid" and that can take up to 8 weeks they say. I had to wait about 3 weeks for my son's EAD card to be valid, but mine was still coming up "pending" on their computer. I called my Senator and apparently a day after my application was put in, they got an approval from Immigration on my EAD card. Now I'm just waiting for my SS card to come in the mail. Who kows how long that will take. Its been a long journey to get a SSN for me, but not everyone has to go through what I have. From what I've seen, not many have.

    Mary

Thanks very much for all that share their experience with me....

Mary I hope that your SS card will be on your mail very soon...

    God Bless us!!

  9. Are they mailing the approved 129f visas now from Bogota or can the ladies still pick them up the next day?

It used to be that the beneficiary could personaly go to the Embassy 2 days after the visa had been granted to pick up the visa package. Now DOMESA is the Embassy chosen delivery service for visa packages and there is a kiosk in the Embassy that the CO will send you where you will make arraingements for delivery. You can have it delivered anywhere in Colombia including Bogota. We had it delivered to the place that we were staying in Bogota...it arrived in the morning on the 4th business day. (buisiness days = Monday thru Friday...not including holidays) Scott and Yenifer posted this reply

  10. I am so confunfused about the bank and paying the visa, the interview is wednesday. Do I pay the embassy 380 dollars for an immigrant visa and the bank 150 dollars for the nonimmigrant visa. Why do I have to pay both for a K1 visa. Some one please reply.

The K-1 visa is a non immigrant visa and you only have to pay $131.00 USD at the bank. (Banco de Credito)

I highly suggest you read this thread from the beginning and you will learn all you need to know and all your questions will be answered....

  11. I think similar questions have been asked before, but I could not find one that matched my exact situation.

Fernanda has her passport and visa with my last name. She has changed her name in Colombia, but she has not received a new Colombian ID card (cedula). Does anyone know if this will be a problem when she tries to leave? I thought she could just use her passport and that would be sufficient.

I Matt y Fernanda!!!.. I did exactly the same, I changed my last name for my Husband's Lastname... I did not receive my Permanent Cedula, I just Receive a Temporal ID Called CONTRASENA, That was enough to leave the Country, I did not have any problem at the airport at all Thank to God. I guess she still keep her Old Cedula with her Single name on it... in the case she has a problem she can show them her Old ID Doesnt matter that the name Doesnt Match the most important is that the number ID will match.

    God BLess You

No worries bud...you will do just fine!!!

Say hi to Bob & Luz Eleina...and don't forget Johanna.

Thank you! I also wanted to thank the both of you personally, because I closely followed your process and posts. Thank you for all of your help.

I couldn't agree more, Scott & Yenifer, Brian & Yenis and Diana, their help and support throughout this process, and those who just by sharing their different experiences will help others that just come by, read and take the knowledgement to go on with each personal case.

Good luck!!! to the new appointments, just follow your heart, if you guys know that what you're doing is honest, there is no need to feel nervous, just leave it to God's hands.

  13. This question is a little late since Fernanda has already had her interview, but when you are approved for a K-3 visa are you supposed to get this sealed envelope I hear so much about? Fernanda did not receive any envelope at her interview. I'm concerned, because I do not want her to arrive in Miami and then be asked where this envelope is. They told her the visa would be delivered in about a week. That was all.

That sealed brown envelope will arrive with the visa from domesa, so dont worry !!!!

    Congratulations !!

    (L) BRIAN AND YENYS (L)

  14. Congrats on your approvals!

The way that I read it, does that mean that you (snoopy or Matt y Fernanda) didn't go to the interview?

Could your spouse say how many people were there that where not with a husband/wife?

For the past year I have been thinking that I would meet my wife in Bogota and go to the interview together. Afterwards we would return to California. Now with the recent Visa/Domesa delivery change I am not sure what to do. I want to go to the interview and I want to enter the US with her, but it is sooo possible that I can not do both because of time restraints.

Right now, I am thinking that maybe it might be better to let her go to Bogota and then if she is approved I would fly to her city and come back with her when she receives the visa.

If I had one choice I would prefer to enter the US with her, but I am not sure if it would be wiser to choose the interview. I know for a K1 it helps to have the spouse at the interview, but does anyone think it would make a difference for a K3?

    Thanks!

I WAS THERE FOR MY WIFES K-3 INTERVIEW AND NEVER WAS ASKED A SINGLE QUESTION...(lucky) i HAVE BEEN TOLD IT DEPENDS ON YOUR PAPERWORK AND CIRCUMSTANCES OF HER BACKGROUND AND YOURS ALSO... THIS IS WHY THERE ARE 5 MINUTE INTERVIEWS AND LONG ONES, SOME UP TO 50 MINUTES....

    GOOD LUCK

  15. hello everyone...congratulations to everyone who has been approved or has made it to the next step in this long process!!! I am posting because we have our interview on the 14th and maybe can give some information that could help others out who are in the same or similar place as my fiance and i...if you plan on going to the lab exam with your boy/girl friend bring a book an ipod or something that can keep you occuppied for more than an hour...you will not be allowed to enter the waiting room with him/her and therefore have to wait outside for who knows how long...we got there at around 730 am and i have to wait a good two hours outside...also bring a jacket!! Again if you plan to go to the phsical appointment with him/her you will be allowed in the waiting room which is nice..haha...you both could be in for another long wait...just so everyone knows...lets see what else can i offer for advice...know that the day after you have your physical you will have to return to that doctors office to pick up the results from both the physical and the xray blood test...that is all i can offer for advice for the time being i think...i will make sure to post what happens at the interview as soon as possible...hope this helps some of you who are so eagerly awaiting the next step!! Also, if you are looking for a place to stay in bogota as posted earlier-www.bogotacolombialodging.com is a wonderful site...i am staying in a guest house for 20 dollars a night the room is clean and perfect for a quick few days in bogota..there is free internet and free calls to the us and hot water!!! It is close to the airport and to the docters and embassy...we went to doctor gonzalez and it was less than a 10.000 cab ride from the hotel..i didnt think that was too bad...let me know if there is anything else at all that i can help you with or answer for you...good luck to everyone!!!!

Erika, Good luck on Monday! We are arriving on Sunday to the same apartments, our interview is on Friday! We are nervous, after such along wait Good luck to all of us as I know there are several interviews coming up this week!

:thumbs:GOOD LUCK STEVE AND SANDY !!!!!

  16. hi all, .

would like to ask , whats the difference between hiring a lawyer for cr1/cr2 application or do-it-myself thing..

aside from paying extremely expensive fees to the lawyer, can they make the process faster?

hope members here can give me their ideas.

    thanks a lot

    larry

SAVE YOUR MONEY and do it your self !!!! and visit this forum for advice.... Good Luck !!!!

  17. I heard that the process for issuing the visa and wait time has changed. I've been told that the new wait time for issuing the visa is 8 days and that they mail it to you instead of issuing it in Bogota. Is there any truth to this?

READ THIS THREAD AND YOU WILL FIND THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION MANY TIMES, GO BACK A FEW PAGES !!!

    GOOD LUCK !!!

  18. Ok...this is my first post yay!! As you can see by my timeline I am still waiting for the response from the California Processing Center.

I dont want to count my chickens before they are hatched but...once we are approved and everything is it a good idea for me to be there when Andres is at his interview?

I would really like to know...thanks your any :help: you can give me!

  19. Hi all, I have a Friend, she is in her K3 and K4 Visa Process, She is waiting for the BGT number for the NVC, Her son is also applying for the Visa Process, She wants to make the shortcut, but I have a Doubt, Does She need to fill out the DS 230 Form for her son Too? What Does she need To fax to the Embassy For Her son? Does she need to fill out a separate OF 169 form?

Any Advice will be Grateful appreciated.

    God Bless You

  20. Byron & Leidy Congratulations!

This is great news, and further proof as to how wonderful and helpful this forum is! I have one question Byron, did they make you show the document with the fathers permission? Sandy and I have one, just not sure if we should bring it with us to the Embassy!

    Thank You everyone!!!!

SteveSandyHill, i brought the signed document with us...he didnt ask to see it but he did ask Leidy where the father was and was he ok with her leaving the country with Daniel....Leidy told him that she had the document with his signature authorizing her to take Daniel with her...that was it..never asked to see it and no more questions...but like bill said ...take it anyway!!

The only evidence that was asked from us was the pictures...no e mail's ...phone records , NOTHING!!!

I had taken 3 years worth of w2's and tax transcripts but they only wanted one .

I had a ton of stuff and even if I saw someone writing what i just wrote I would do it the same way all over again.

Better to be overprepared than to not have enough!!!!!

Scott...Neophi was approved also!! he was the first one called!

:thumbs:CONGRATULATIONS TO BYRON AND LEIDY, NEOPHY, MV-JR :thumbs:

  21. I need a little help, My fiancées interview is scheduled for the 23 of January, My plan was to go down there on the 15th, help here with doctors app and paying the bank, get the visa and leave together on the 27th.

How long does it take to get the Visa after the interview? I am in the military so it is not easy for me to stay a long time. I was planning on buying us both tickets to leave on the 27th or 28th. When can we pick up the Visa after it gets approved?????

    anyone know?

DOMESA is the shipper and located in the kiosk area of the Embassy in Bogota. They will tell you 6-8 days.

But we got ours in 3 days and called and picked it up at the DOMESA office in Cartagena.

You can NOT pick up the Visa at the Embassy anymore, they changed that rule last month and must be shipped to address of the

    passport holder....

YOU WILL NEED AT LEAST 3-5 DAYS TO GET THE VISA AND THAN BUY YOUR TICKETS OR BE PREPARED TO PAY THE PENALTY FEE FOR CHANGING YOUR FLIGHTS......GOOD LUCK !!!!

  22. Good Luck to all 31st. appointments, I know you guys will do just fine; we want to hear how things went.

I have a question regarding a K-3 visa documents, they're almost the same as for the K-1 but I need to be sure on what to do.

My husband’s interview will be on January 14, 2008, I paid a lawyer to do all the documents, BUT, my husband called me this morning and he’s kind of worry because the putting all the documents together, and in the same order the Embassy is requesting them the "Affidavit of Support" I sent is not the one the Embassy is asking for, the lawyer gave me I-134 and the Embassy is asking for the I-864 which is a longer form, he’ll be traveling to Bogota next Tuesday and if I need to send him I-864 it’ll have to be done by Wednesday.

PLEASE, any of you guys who already went can suggest on what to do? :help:

    Thank you ……. Ana

 HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU.

You will need the I-134 for the embassy interview and get it notarized. You will need the I-864 for AOS filing.

I know this to be true for a fact, because I brought both of the affadavits with me to the Embassy and they only wanted the I-134 and returned the I-864 to me. These affadavits should be notarized and include 3 years tax returns, although your only required to have one year. the other two are optional, but give more evidence for them to approve faster....Good Luck !!!

  23. Just drop by to share the good news with you: OUR VISA WAS APPROVED. The interview last few minutes, three questions: how many times have your fiancé has visited you, how many times have you visited him and where did you live while doing your masters degree in USA. Did not ask for any evidence and everything was in Spanish. I will post more details latter on.

It was nice meeting some people from VJ, please let us now how it went for you guys!!!

:thumbs:CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR INTERVIEW AND APPROVED VISA !!!!!

  24. Thank you everyone for your input on the dual citizenship issue. All this information gives Fernanda and I a lot to consider. I do not see the kids staying more than 3 months at a time in Colombia. I do not know if it will really be necessary for them to have dual citizenship.

Also, Fernanda had her appointment today with Dr. Roa. She said that she had to completely undress. She started to tell me something else was strange, but said she did not know how to explain it in english. So I will find out tomorrow. She is a nurse and told the nurse at the office that it was completely unnecessary. But the nurse insisted that she must undress.

I have another question for those of you who have been to your interview. Fernanda was saying something about having to pay more for the K-3 at the Embassy. I told her that the $100 at the Banco de Credito was all she had to spend. Are there any additional fees besides the interview fee at the Banco de Credito and the Domesa fee you must pay for the K-3 visa?

The charge now is $131.00 USD for the k-3 and k-1 visa application fee....you will not pay any other fee's at the Embassy, except the shipping charge from DOMESA to send the approved visa in passport to your house address....good luck

Thank you for your help. It is greatly appreciated. Did you pick up your visa at the Domesa office in Bogota or did you have it sent to your home?

HI Matt We Pick up The Visa at DOMESA OFFICE CARTAGENA, But we paid for the service that will Deliver it at your house because there is not more option, We Pick it up at the DOMESA OFFICE because we keep calling to DOMESA and They told us that they had our Visa there.

    God Bless You,

    (L) Brian and Yenys (L)
