We just received an e-mail Welcome the new Permanent Resident! We're so relieved! We hadn't heard a word since our case was transferred to CSC in March! Now we've just got to wait for the Green Card to come in the mail! We couldn't be happier! Now we have the option of visiting his family this summer!

I have a random question. Is there any way to tell if your application is in the process of getting the FBI name check (or done, or hasn't begun, etc) without calling? IE. Do they update your case online when it is complete? Or do you just have to call and harass them for information?

We can see our Employment Authorization online but still cannot see our I-485. Why is USCIS taking SO long to put our cases online?

A friend of mine works at Best Buy and has said that when they turn the Plasma TV's off at night they all have the image of what was playing stuck on them. Ick.

We have a 32" Sharp AQUOS LCD and I love it. NO GLARE! Maybe it's just me, but considering the massive amounts of windows (facing east no less) in my house, I appreciate finally not having glare on my TV from 9am to 6pm.

My aunt had many troubles conceiving children (but with much effort had two beautiful girls). Around her 40th birthday she started feeling really moody & just off. She went to the doctor assuming she was starting menopause only to find out she was pregnant with her third child! She had no troubles during her pregnancy, and I know many other people over 40 who have had successful & safe pregnancies.

A lot of it is just taking all the necessary precautions during your pregnancy- but there is still a chance of troubles due to the fact that women are born with all of the eggs they will ever have. The older you become the older your eggs become. Deteriorated (old) eggs can lead to having children with abnormalities such as down syndrome. (It's not a guarantee of problems, you're just more likely than a younger woman)

I would suggest that you and your husband get tested for any kind of genetic diseases that you could pass to your children if you are really concerned about having a child with some sort of abnormality. It's not a guarantee, but it can definately help you if you are afraid of passing something on to your children and want to know what you are up against.

This kind of thing always dumbfounds me. My mother in law is married to a horrid man who abuses her (physically & verbally) on a regular basis. Not only that, but he abused her THREE CHILDREN and drove one of her children to the point of being in a mental institution (then forbade her from seeing that child). Yet she has been married to him for over ten years (he is not the father of her children/my husband) and stays married to him simply because she does not want to have to work to survive and enjoys the financial lifestyle he allows her to live.

I think sometimes people in abusive relationships will never wake up, regardless of the reason they stay in the relationship (love, money, etc.). I hope that your SIL can wake up and see that a person of that character doesn't need a reason (ie. cheating) to act on his threats.

We just received an RFE saying we didn't submit his Birth Certificate (with translation) although we did. Should we just send another?? I know we sent it because we had his translation notarized. Maybe USCIS is retarded and couldn't recognize what it was?

I think its about 6 or 7 months for a Green card right now. Seems like 2-3 months for EAD and a month for Biometrics. Everyone is different though.

Both of our families have been totally accepting of Yuibi and I, which we are incredibly thankful for. Most of the negative comments have been from total strangers. For example: When in Japan, a hobo came up to me and started to cuss me out for being a non-Japanese person with a Japanese guy. It was more creepy than anything- he smelled like feet.

More positively (but also strange), when we were first dating we were getting out of my car at Best Buy when I teenaged guy saw us holding hands and yelled, "WOOO! INTERRACIAL COUPLE! RIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!" Starling, but at least he meant well.

Unbelievable. I have to find out what abominable crime Mrs Clinton has pepetrated to allow for these kinds of comments. It's one thing to find her policies and beliefs contrary to one's own but all this transference of hate to her as a person is just bizarre.

I think its multi-layered. For one, she's a public figure and most public figures are either despised (ex. Brittany Spears) or adored (Princess Diana). Second, she is a political figure and politicians are often despised simply based on their political views as well as voting record. Third, she has said and done some things in during this campaign that have cause many people to wonder about her integrity. Bill Clinton faced a similar amount of despise. And then of course, she conveys to many, the embodiment of a strong feminist and some find that repulsive.

My overall impression is that both Clintons seem to have the capacity to be well liked by some, and really despised by others and it goes beyond just their political views. However, the same thing could be said about Nixon, Carter, Reagan, and the two Bushes. So while I think there may be an element of misogyny in it, I don't see her sex as fueling the flames.

I'm too lazy to search more, but everyone takes their fair share of bashing in politics. I'm under the impression most of the banter in this post is at least semi-jokingly. It's clear some people don't like her, but I highly doubt that they REALLY want to 'beat up' Hillary or any of the other things jokingly suggested. Tons of people suggest pretty vicious things be done to Bush every day, it just comes with the territory of wanting to be president.
