  1. USCIS Extends Relief Measures for Filipino Typhoon Victims

    Release Date: January 14, 2014

    WASHINGTON U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) reminds those affected by Typhoon Haiyan, which struck the Philippines on Nov. 8, 2013, of agency efforts to provide relief to victims of the typhoon.

    Filipino nationals in the United States should visit www.uscis.gov to learn about a series of existing relief measures that may be available to them if requested. These relief measures include:

    A change or extension of nonimmigrant status for an individual currently in the United States, even when the request is filed after the authorized period of admission has expired;

    An extension of certain grants of parole made by USCIS;

    An extension of certain grants of advance parole, and expedited processing of advance parole requests;

    Expedited adjudication and approval, where possible, of requests for off-campus employment authorization for F-1 students experiencing severe economic hardship;

    Expedited processing of immigrant petitions for immediate relatives of U.S. citizens;

    Expedited adjudication of employment authorization applications, where appropriate; and

    Assistance to LPRs stranded overseas without immigration or travel documents, such as Permanent Resident Cards (Green Cards). USCIS and the Department of State will coordinate on these matters when the LPR is stranded in a place that has no local USCIS office.

    In addition, USCIS has proactively identified and is expediting pending I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, forms that have been filed by U.S. citizens for their Filipino immediate relatives. Our standard security checks remain in place.

  2. Trying to help out my Filipino mother-in-law here: when she filled out the application to sponsor two of her children to bring them to the USA, she marked "Unmarried" on the application for her married son. Even though later in the application she listed the information on the son's wife and children, now she has received notice that the application has been approved, but the son is again listed as "Unmarried" on this approval notice.

    Does anyone have experience with this, and does this present a major problem with her application process?

    Thanks in advance!

  3. Since your timeline indicates you've been here for a while I'll assume I-130 petitions were filed for your children by your husband as a USC.

    If you filed I-130 petitions for them as a LPR then they will have to wait in family preference category as they don't qualify for immediate relative of USC if you petition them.

    If your husband filed then you should have contacted NVC a couple of weeks after their approval. Do it now because after 1 year NVC will close the case.

    If you filed then have your husband file now to get the ball rolling.

    pls dont look out the timeline this is my sister account i am using ive'd been here for 9 yrs my sister arrived here last 2007

  4. Post Decision Activity

    [On February 17, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

    For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.]

    THIS IS THE STATUS OF MY PETITION ON USCIS WEBSITE...THANK YOU ALL

  5. Hi - we're wondering, when my wife applies for her 10-year green card, will our financial condition/status be submitted and examined, as it was when we applied for the 2-year temporary green card? Do they require recent tax filings, employment documentation, bank accounts, etc.?

    Another thing we're thinking about: per other postings, it looks like we'll both have to be in the US for an interview, but other than being physically present for the interview, is there any restriction on foreign travel before or during the application (for 10-year green card) process?

    Thanks much!

  6. Just got my biometrics notice today. But unfortunately, there's an error in the notice on my alien regstration number in one of the number in it. They put 4 instead of 1. So what would i gonna do? inform USCIS so they can recorrect it or just correct it on my biometrics appointment? need input here!

We're wondering if we should call to check, even though it's not free to check. They wouldn't be waiting for someone to call and check would they?? That sounds crazy... :help:
