  1. Thanks Boflex this really gives me hope. So do you think he should give them all of his paperwork for his pending case. Although the US Consulate is only asking for a letter from the Canadian Immigration on his pending case should he send in everything he has on his pending case with the Canadian Immigratioin?

I definitely would provide absolutely everything he can as our lawyer told us he's seen similar situations where they would only send a RFE or request for one document at a time and it just made it last all the longer. We just gave them a pile of documents and never received a request for additional info. Good luck!!!

  2. I spoke with my hubby last night, and he told me that he received a letter from the US Consulate. The letter said that he needed a letter from the Canadian Immigration on his pending case there. Now I called the DOS yesterday and the lady didn’t even tell me that they had sent out a letter the only thing she told me was his file had been touched this month. I sure hope they can issue his visa once they receive the letter from the Canadian Immigration on his status there. His case is still in AP pending the letter they just asked for. This is totally driving me crazy. Can anyone give me any feedback with him not having any status in Canada, but a pending asylum case with this letter from the Canadian Immigration can he still be issued a visa? :help:

When my wife and I were going for her CR-1 in the States her family and she had a pending Humanitarian and Compassionate case pending in Canada. We were using a lawyer for our case as it was a pretty unique case, just a FYI. He asked us to provide all of the information that her family had on their case (application, copies of their passports with the date they entered Canada stamped on them, any updates/additional information requests/processing status updates they received from the Canadian Government, as well as copies of any immigration documents they received while in Canada (medical cards, etc...).

After we provided all of that it seemed enough to show the US Government that they were in Canada legally and our file was moved on. I think this should work for you guys as well as my wife technically didn't have citizenship or any other status in any other country in the world at that time as she was born in the former Yugoslavia and Serbia doesn't like to recognize anyone that left :)

    Hope this helps!

  3. My husband does it too! So does his dad. It's sooo gross. The first time I went out to eat with him I was kind of horrified...

He has quieted down, he doesn't make the smacking noise now, so I do avoid looking at him... he say's it's because he can't breathe out his nose.

My FIL though.. he smacks and chews and it's gross. I can't stand it.

Lol If your guy can go underwater when swimming without his mouth being wide open, make him shut his friggin mouth when he eats haha

That is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves, it's just disgusting and there's no way to give an excuse for it haha. If you can't breath through your nose, guess what, if you're chewing for more than 15-20 seconds you might want to rethink your strategy for eating Lol.

  4. Lol Hope everyone enjoys the holiday, I'll be at work for normal hours as usual, woohoo

Although I guess in these times I'm still happy to just have a job :wow:

  5. Psh. Luongo's playoff stats are great! He had one bad game -- one bad game at a critical time, I'll admit -- but one bad game. Even including that one atrocious game, he has a 2.09 GAA and a .930 save percentage! If you believe, like I do, that save percentage is the most important goalie stat, I'm not sure how anyone can knock him overall as a playoff goaltender. One bad game!

I wouldn't be too stoked about him after seeing that REALLY rough game against the Americans, looked like he was controllling those rebounds off his chest like a soccer player :)

Gonna be a great playoffs though, I seriously can't wait, I just hope the Avs don't continue to choke Lol

  6. Neither of them are going to catch my Canucks for the division title.

Haha Luongo will just give it up in the playoffs though. I guess having a banner being raised in the rafters is okay, even if it's just for a division title

  7. My vent for right now? The stupid Avs LISTLESS play...I was getting ready to watch them in the playoffs this year, now it's looking like I'm going to have to watch them choke :( Pick it up!!!

  8. Okay so I eat VERY regimented, only certain foods, certain ratios of protein/carbs/fat, and only at specified times. Well today is not only a baby shower type thing for one of my co-workers, we have a huge cafeteria downstairs yet everyone keeps bringing their food back to their desks so they can surf the net while at lunch.

Here I am, about another 35 minutes away from lunch, and all I can smell is pizza, pop, crazy bread from Little Caesars, freshly made french fries, and chocolate. This is going to be a rough day Lol.

  9. Lol After going through some hassle getting some stuff done for my wife we both came to the conclusion that the immigration process for her spousal visa as well as all that she went through with immigration with her family the 15 years before that has COMPLETELY taken away any patience we have now. Whenever someone in a customer service job or anything like that starts giving her the run-around I swear she turns into a 5'2 wolverine and starts going nuts on them. Somehow it really seems to get stuff moving Lol

  10. Soooo I just got back from a job interview. I think it went well, but it seems like they're interviewing a million people. He said he'll call late next week if they decide to do a follow up interview, so I just need to wait I guess. I'd be surprised if they didn't want to do a second interview, but we'll see, you never know.

    Good luck to you!!!

  11. Same here. It's so easy to read a map, study it, figure out where you're going before getting in your car. I am always so surprised with people who just plug in their GPS and drive. I couldn't depend on a computer like that... no sir-ee-bob. :P

Lol I did that ONE time when I was driving to a completely new area and the stupid thing kept saying "Acquiring Satellite Connection" and would just not offer any help. I now just look up directions on Google Maps or something, just can't be completely dependent on them ever when driving, too many stupid tweaking issues Lol

  12. I have like the least amount of patience for people who call the office lost and who use a GPS.

I wouldn't mind giving directions if people would just shut up about their GPS. Listen, I don't care what your GPS says, I'm letting you know that you've gone the wrong way! Oh but your GPS says what? Well I am telling you to shut the hell up and listen to me.

It's like they call.. tell me their GPS has led them to the wrong place, I'll tell them where to go, and they'll say: "Oh well my GPS says go here.." Fine go there, what do I know? I just live here!

I swear these are the same people who would say in grade school: "Well that's not true because my mom said..."

Sorry I think I have vented about this before but it happens so often why not vent about it one more time! :D

Lol This is always great, it's like "Hey I'm already here but if your GPS that got you lost is telling you to turn somewhere else, hey go for it"

People are amazingly addicted to technology Lol. I saw some show on MTV on Monday where there were couples actually going through hard times or breaking up because one was addicted to facebook or their Blackberry Hahaha

    :bonk:

  13. Got a new phone this weekend. Between all the overage and international calls, we were getting hit for about $150 per month on our cell phone bill each month, and that was just for basic phones with basic service. We never went over our minute alotment or texts each month, just got reamed by calls to Canada, and nickel and dimed to death with minute service fees. So we started looking elsewhere and found out we could get top of the line phones and service for about what we were already paying. First thing, i now understand completely why they call them 'crackberry's' The sad thing though is that I still don't get any service in my office. It's like the black hole of mobile service here. I can go 2 or 3 levels underground, in the basement and get a great signal, but not in my office. To make things even better, they have shut off the wi-fi here at work. So i managed to get myself addicted to my blackberry and now facebook, and I can't even check them now. You gotta love poetic justice.

Lol My old room at my parents' house became known as The Vault because for some reason I couldn't get phone service in there, no idea what that was all about.

Also after getting my new phone I made sure not to get the Internet option in my plan just because I knew I'd get addicted to it and probably would stop doing anything but playing on it all day Lol

  14. A lil somethin' somethin' for you folks from Canada, might take a second or two to load Lol

    Link

P.S. I wanted to post as a link but the stupid link box opened up half off my screen so I didn't know what the ####### to do Lol :)

  15. Yep I know exactly where you're coming from too, when my wife first moved to the States we lived with my parents for about six months. She got a job after about a month or two of getting here and we just started saving up money, got her a car, all that kinda jazz that needs to be done. Once we realized we'd have enough money to not take a huge dip in our lifestyle, such as having cable tv, having the internet, being able to afford to go out here and there, my wife started looking for apartments and then we moved out.

I'm sure once you get a job and are making all the benjamins everything will work out :) Good luck to you!!

  16. Haha I keep hearing people on the radio show I listen to rip into people that are at the bars wearing green that aren't Irish. I just want to say to these people: "Psssst, you're in Michigan right now, you've never been to Ireland, fairly sure you've been out of the tri-state area twice in your life, you are AMERICAN, not Irish, suck it up and let them drink"

On that note Happy St Patty's to everyone!! Lol

  17. I am so happy I lived in Amherstburg, is it such a nice little town.

We've got a bunch of pictures we took of the military stuff by the water & have it on our walls. Something to remind me.

We actually have three pictures of the Ambassador Bridge on our dining room wall to keep us from forgetting the times that we were so close to each other yet so far away. It was odd hearing my wife telling me stories of how she would go and pick up dinner and eat right on the water's edge there when I'd log off and head home from work everyday.

I was in the car with her coming back over the bridge after spending an awesome day with her family and it just made me so glad that we're together and not still dealing with that stuff. With the economy problems and everything it's easy to forget that things are so much better now than they were when we were apart :)

Enjoy Windsor for me too! Amherstburg is one of my favourite towns! I used to participate in the re-enactments at Fort Malden every Civic Day holiday weekend in August. It started as a predominantly War of 1812 event but has morphed into a TimeLine event. It is well worth a visit this summer since you are so close. I miss camping alongside the river - it was always so easy to imagine that I had actually stepped back in time to 1812.

Except for the fact that last time we camped there we just slept in the back of my Jeep I know exactly what you're talking about :) Was really cool to just camp so close to the water and be at peace without having all of the stupid ####### that invades our lives on a day to day basis in the city :)
